As long as i’m here, no one can hurt you

Remus trudged home from university, the weight of his parents' constant fights heavy on his shoulders. He entered the house to the familiar sounds of raised voices, his mom's harsh tones slicing through the air. His dad, worn out, stormed out of the house without a word. Exhausted, Remus dropped his bag and collapsed onto his bed, barely mustering the energy to check his phone.

He saw Sirius' text: "Did you get home?"

Tears welled in Remus' eyes as he thought about the chaos at home. He didn't want to burden Sirius, so he hesitated to reply. An hour passed, and Sirius texted again. This time, Remus replied: "Sorry, today's been rough. Them fighting again…I don't know what to say."

As Remus struggled with his emotions, Sirius sensed something was wrong. When he called, Remus' voice cracked as he tried to sound okay. Sirius knew better.

"I'm worried, Moony. I'll be there in 20 minutes," Sirius assured, revving up his motorcycle and racing toward Remus' house.

Desperation tinged Remus' reply: "You can't. My parents won't allow it."

Another text from Sirius arrived : "I'll figure something out, love."

Fifteen minutes later, Sirius parked his motorcycle near Remus' house and texted, "Look out from your window."

Remus hesitated, his heart pounding with anxiety. After a moment of inner struggle, he climbed up to the window.

Sirius stood below, his eyes locking onto Remus.

"Jump," Sirius mouthed, his arms

Remus leaned out of the window, eyeing the distance to the ground.

"Sirius, I can't. What if they find out?"

"Remus, I'm not leaving you to deal with this alone," Sirius replied, his voice
determined but gentle. "Trust me, l'll keep you safe. Just jump."

Tears glistened in Remus' eyes as he looked down, uncertainty gripping him.

"I'm scared, Sirius. What if they forbid me from seeing you ever again?"

"They won't," Sirius insisted, his gaze unwavering. "We'll figure it out. But right now, I need you here with me."

Finally, with a deep breath, he whispered, "Okay."

Remus took the leap, and Sirius caught him securely.

"There we go, love. You're here," Sirius whispered, holding Remus tightly against him.

Remus clung to Sirius, burying his face in Sirius' shoulder, his whole body trembling with emotion. Their hug was tight, as if Remus was afraid to let go. Tears streamed down his face, soaking Sirius' shirt.

"Shh, it's alright," Sirius murmured, gently stroking Remus' back. He guided them to a hidden spot, pressing themselves against the wall, holding each other so closely.

"I miss you," Remus whispered, his voice muffled against Sirius' chest.

"I miss you more," Sirius replied softly, running his fingers through Remus' hair. Remus held onto Sirius even tighter, seeking solace in his embrace.

"You're scaring me, love. Are you okay?" Sirius asked, concern evident in his voice.

Remus slowly lifted his head, tear-stained eyes meeting Sirius'. "I don't know... I'm tired of them."

Sirius tenderly kissed Remus' cheek, his voice soothing. "You don't have to face this alone, Re. I’m right here, okay?”

Remus nodded, his breathing slowly steadying. Sirius reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bar of chocolate.

"Got this for you. Thought it might help."

Remus looked happy. "Did you buy it for me?"

Sirius grinned. "Of course, who else would I spoil with chocolate?"

Remus chuckled softly, wiping away his tears. "You spoil me too much."

"Never enough," Sirius teased, breaking off a piece and offering it to Remus. Remus leaned in to take the chocolate, their fingers brushing as he did.

"Did they do something to hurt you?"

Remus shook his head. "No, nothing like that."

"Then come stay with me," Sirius urged gently.

Remus hesitated, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. "I can't. They won't allow it, Sirius. You know how they feel about us."

Sirius sighed, his brows furrowing in
frustration. "They can't control your life, Re. You deserve better."

Remus glanced away, struggling with conflicting emotions. "I know, but... it's complicated. I don't want to cause more trouble."

Sirius took Remus' hand, holding it firmly. "You're not causing any trouble. They're the ones creating a mess, not you."

"I wish it were that simple."

Sirius gently lifted Remus' chin, meeting his gaze. "It can be. You don't have to endure this alone. You have me."

Remus leaned into Sirius' touch, seeking comfort in his unwavering support. "I just don't want to lose you."

"You won't. I'm here," Sirius reassured, pressing a tender kiss on Remus' lips.

As the pull apart, Remus says:

"Did you drive your bike this fast? How did you get here so quickly?"

Sirius grinned, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "I'm just cool like that," he teased, showing off a playful side.

"You're ridiculous," Remus laughed, feeling a weight lifting off his shoulders in Sirius' presence.

"That's better," Sirius said with a smile.
"You should be laughing all the time."

Their playful banter shifted into a more tender moment as Sirius traced his finger over Remus' cheek, following the pattern of his freckles. "Your freckles are so pretty."

Remus blushed, a shy smile gracing his lips. "Thank you."

"I hate seeing you like this," Sirius confessed, his voice softening. "Text me when you're about to sleep. I'll send you my music playlist, and we can listen together."

Remus nodded, a sense of warmth spreading through him at the thought of sharing such a simple yet intimate connection with Sirius. "Okay, 'Il do that.I have to go back now before they notice I'm missing”

Sirius nods understandingly, a mix of concern and reassurance in his eyes.
"I’m always gonna be here."

As Remus go back into his room, he glanced back one last time, meeting Sirius' gaze from below. They exchanged a silent promise—a connection that transcended the chaos around them.

Remus quickly finished his assignment, and climb up to bed. Later his phone buzzed, a gentle reminder of the one constant in his life. Sirius' message appeared, a beacon of light in the darkness:
"Sending you a song. Close your eyes, let the music carry you."

With trembling hands, Remus wiped away the tears, his eyes meeting the screen. He tapped on the music file Sirius had sent. David Bowie's
"Heroes" began to play, its melody wrapping around Remus like a warm embrace.
