Harry Potter wasn’t having a nice morning, In fact he wasn’t really having a good life. Life as a 8 year old boy kind of stressful anyway. He of course had no idea what was coming for him, but for now his problems were at home. If he wasn’t so tired, he’d have probably ran away by now.He had already been woken up by the teacher twice in class and to be honest, he wasn’t really in the mood for being told off. He glanced at the clock. The bell was going to go off any minute. 3. 2. 1-
DING
Harry still jumped from the long sound and started grabbing his stuff. All he needed was to get out before she-
“Harry potter, please stay after class,” the teacher said, as she started to tidy up her own things. The class jeered and laughed.
”Of course it’s potter.”
”Bloody pain.”
”Even his family think he’s a freak.”
Harry couldn’t find it in himself to care, but his teacher still stood for him. “If anyone has a problem with a student, come to me. Otherwise, watch your mouths. All that gossiping is sure going to give you wrinkles.” That shut everyone up. The rest of the class silently left, and Harry found himself standing all alone. All alone. All alone.
”I’m sorry miss…”
His teacher chuckled. “I’ve been teaching you for 2 weeks, dear. You should probably know my name.”
Harry hung his head in embarrassment.
”My dear. I need you to trust me.” She said, wiping away the chalk on the bord. ”It wasn’t that long since I myself was a student.”
Harry’s teacher was the youngest teacher in the school, and by far the nicest and prettiest. She didn’t really intervene when things weren’t necessary but was always there to help all her students. She had an incredible sense of style, and all the girls were jealous of her, but to Harry, she was just a teacher. He looked up and stared into her dark eyes.
“Miss, I’ve trusted you with my education. I’m pretty sure there’s nothing else there.”
Her smile faltered. For a second Harry thought she might burst into tears, but then her mask came back. “Of course. You will need to get more sleep. You can’t keep falling asleep in my lessons.”
He nodded to her words.
”Alright. See you next Monday, have a good weekend.” He grabbed his bag and was nearly gone before she called him back.
”Mary McDonald. You must call my Miss McDonald.”
”Have a good weekend Miss McDonald.”
He ran out the door and down the stairs. If he didn’t get home before Dudley, he was in for it. He nearly tripped pushing against the heavy door and legged it to the gate. He was just about to give up when he heard someone call his name.
“Harry!” Dudley cried, panting to try and catch up to him. Harry stopped running.
”You waited. Thanks.” Harry said, looking down as Dudley caught his breath, barely able to stand. “You’re so fast. For a second- for a second-“ he stopped talking and caught his breath. He straightened himself up.
“For a second I was sure you were gonna leave without me” he said. He gave Harry a quick smile, turned around and started leading him home. It took Harry a moment, but then he followed his lead. Dudley being nice to him was still relatively new, so whenever it happened, it took Harry a second. It had all started at the start of the year.
They had just been out for break when they were on the way into their classroom. He was just about to open his classroom door when Dudley pushed him into the wall. He could still remember the grasp on his shoulders, holding him down.
“Your mine you freak.”
Harry was sure he was about to get another black eye when his teacher rounded the corridor. He expected her to let Dudley off like the other teachers did over the previous years, but miss just gave the class work and took them both outside.
”Harry is your cousin. He’s younger than you and is depending on you to look after him. Don’t let him down.”
He had been sure that Dudley wouldn’t actually take the words to heart, but he was proven wrong when Dudley saved a bit of dinner for him, which was a lot coming from him. Over the past few weeks, his acts of kindness were getting more and more bold. He did it whenever his parents weren’t looking, and would ignore him whenever they were. Harry kept thinking it was just a joke, but it wouldn’t have gone on for this long if it was.
As they rounded another corner, Dudley dug into his pocket and took out a chocolate bar. He held it out for him to take. “Take it. Mummy will buy me another.” Harry took the chocolate and put it in his pocket. “Thanks.” He murmured. He knew he wasn’t going to eat it but it was always the thought that counted.
They rounded on privet drive and Harry’s heart sank. He looked up and Dudley and Dudley looked at him. “You’re gonna be okay.” He said. As they walked up the driveway and Dudley opened the door, he spotted his aunt petunia and uncle Vernon in the window the sitting room.
Here we go again.
