Twin Potters
The great hall buzzed with the chatter of students and professors alike. Ron bumped his shoulder against Harry's and gestured, not as subtlety as he thought, towards Draco. Draco looked paler than usual and seemed to have an almost sleepy look in his slightly bloodshot eyes. He didn't look like the typical bully they had come to expect. Confused, Harry shrugged in return and they both realized Hermionie had stopped speaking, taking notice to their wandering minds.
"Harry!" She gripped, "this is important. You both need to focus on what classes you'll be taking! And if we're to study together I've put together a schedule…"
Harry had already zoned out and was staring at the professors lining the head table. He vaguely heard Ron complain that Hermione was taking class selection too seriously, followed by an oomph and snickers. Harry chuckled, picturing the swat he was sure Ron received. Harry was trying to read professor snape's lips as he chatted with professor McGonagall when the doors to the great hall were unceremoniously thrown open and a familiar face with his own emerald eyes stared ahead with determination. The whispers and murmurs started immediately, but Harry was busy looking on at his sister with fear gripping his heart. Hogwarts was dangerous and every year he had closer calls with death, he was afraid for the small girl that stood in that doorway.
"Harry, did you know she was coming?" Hermionie asked at his side. He shook his head and looked on at the girl.
Dumbledore stood at his podium and spoke in his booming voice, "welcome young potter, visiting days aren't until the end of the year but I'm sure we can make an exception,"
"I'm not a visitor," she cut in curtly but with a cheerful voice. She took a deep breath and continued, "I have come to attend Hogwarts."
The great hall grew eerily quiet. Dumbledore smiled but there was irritation in his eyes, "I'm so sorry young one, but registration for this current year is already closed, and…"
She cut in again, this time more firmly, "excuse me professor but the bylaws of hogwarts, put in place by the original founding members in 991AD, section 7,253, subsection 342c, subparagraph 14 'legacy members', line 3 clearly states that a child with legitimate blood relation to any of the original founding members shall be considered a legacy student and always be welcome at hogwarts as students regardless of invitation or registration, furthermore line 38 reiterates that legacy students as defined above shall always be welcome as students and defines welcome as having an inert inability to lose acceptance or be barred in any way from any part of the school or enrolling in any class or test they see fit for they shall have small dominion over the school and can graduate at any level if they have the necessary skills to pass the exams." She finished in a single breath, rivaling even Hermione with her speech.
Dumbledore chuckles and claps, "well done young one, that was an excellent job reciting that. However that would not apply to you as you are not a legacy student and if you were, proof would need to be rendered."
The girl smirks a bit, reminding Harry of Malloy, and snaps her fingers. A piece of paper slips from her pocket and flies across the great hall into Dumbledore's hands.
As he reads the note Harry turns to Hermione and whispers, "is that true? Is she right?!"
She shakes her head, "I'm not sure. I don't have all of the bylaws memorized but I think so…but it wouldn't matter anyway, your mother was a muggleborn and James Potter wasn't related to any of the founders." She tried reassuring Harry but he didn't seem any less upset.
When Dumbledore finishes reading the paper it catches fire and begins to burn in his hands and he watches it turn to ash. After clearing his throat he speaks again, "students, join me in welcoming our newest student." The twinkle was gone from his eyes and he turned to sit back down.
The girl smirked again and walked over to join the first year's, whispers and murmurs staring to echo around them all again.
"Harry! What happened? You're related to one of the founders?" Hermionie hissed.
"Of course he would be, probably has more vaults, of course," Ron grumbled beside him.
But all Harry could do was watch his little sister strutting to the first year's and stand waiting.
She was short. Even shorter than Harry. She was 5 foot tall and thin, with the same color dark raven hair that Harry had but it was long down her back in loose curls that always seemed to dance as she walked. Her hair was half tied up with a black silk bow, and her emerald eyes glowed just a bit brighter than Harry's own. Her skin was pale where his was tan and she had freckles painted across them like her mother. She looked like a delicate, female version of Harry Potter.
She was his twin sister, younger by 15 minutes and she looked the part. She was raised in an orphanage while Harry was raised by his aunt and uncle and they had only met when she was 12. She had a burst of accidental magic at and ended up apparating to the burrow into Harry's lap. Dumbledore had decided that she shouldn't attend Hogwarts, saying it was too dangerous. After the first year when Harry had come face to face with Voldemort and second year when a basilisk almost killed half the school and voldemort almost killed Ginny, Harry had to agree.
Elianna had begged him to change his mind. She was sent away back to her orphanage shortly after and when Harry tried to convince her that Dumbledore only had their best interests at heart she had screamed that she hated him. That he was her brother and should be on her side, but Harry was too blinded by Dumbledore at the time to see it. In the last year since then Harry had started to wonder who's side Dumbledore was really on but he still believed Hogwarts wasn't safe for his sister. He was the chosen one. He had to save the Wizarding world. And once he was done he would bring her home and they would have the life that voldemort stole from them.
Harry realized he had zoned out again when Professor McGonagalls voice rang out in the great hall and called out his sisters name, "Eliana Potter" and she walked out confidently to sit under the sorting hat. Harry's heart began to beat harder, their parents were gryfendore but the hat had originally wanted him in slytherin! It could put her in the wrong house and he hadn't had the chance to tell her about the houses before she left the burrow.
He wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans and watched as time ticked on but the hat never spoke. Everyone began checking their watches and clocks and the whispers began again, '10 minutes its been,' 'slytherin I reckon,' 'hatstall for sure,' 'longest one yet,' but Harry just began whispering in his head like a plea…"not slytherin," over and over like he did the day he was sorted. Hoping that his twin could feel him. After 25 agonizing minutes the hat spoke.
"Slytherin!" It yelled and the great hall grew quiet and then the slytherin table erupted into screams and shouts. "And, Gryfendore!" The hat continued. The hall once again is great quiet. "And, Ravenclaw!" The hat added. Everyone began looking at Dumbledore who sat staring at Elianna in shock. "And, Hufflepuff!" The hat finished.
Professor McGonagall took the hat off her head but didn't speak and Elianna gave her a confused look, "where do I go?" She asked but professor McGonagall just looked to Dumbledore who didn't speak. Elianna stood up and looked out at the great hall but every table was quiet and confused.
Draco broke the silence by standing and motioning to the Slytherin table, "the hat said Slytherin first and Slytherin would be happy to have you!" He called out cheerfully with a smile, shocking Harry and most of the great hall. Elianna smiled back at him and seemed to relax just a but and began to walk towards the slytherin table.
"No!" Cedric Diggory called out from hufflepuff, "The hat said the others as well! The order may have been irrelevant! She belongs in Hufflepuff as well and we would be equally as pleased to have you Elianna!" He finished with a bow. Elianna blushed and looked confused between Draco and Cedric both standing with her arms out to her.
"Wait," Harry called out, standing to join them. "Elli, you should be in gryfendore! Like mom and dad! That's what they would have wanted, and that way we can spend more time together!" He ended, sounding a bit desperate and reaching out like the other two. She looked at him and then looked back to Cedric and Draco.
"Ellianna," Luna's dreamy voice said from Ravenclaw, "the hat makes no mistakes and you are very important though you don't know it yet. You don't need to decide, all houses are open to you as you belong to all of them. The school is a part of you and all 4 houses are parts of you as well. You don't need to choose…they are all the right choices." She ends with a smile.
Elianna smiles brightly at her but Dumbledore's voice makes everyone jump, "young Ms. Potter will stay in a private suit until such time as she chooses one of the other dorms to stay in. Of course she can always enter any dorm so no choice is permanent. For now, you can eat dinner wherever you'd like, perhaps with your brother, and I will show you both to her dorm after. Now, let the feast commence." He clapped his hands and food appeared but no one seemed to have the same appetite.
Elianna gave one last look to Draco and Cedric each, smiling and mouthing thank you before bowing and heading to the back of the hall near the door and after speaking some words in a strange language a small stone table and chairs appeared with a similar feast on it. She sat down alone and with exquisite table manners she began to eat.
Draco was the first to move, he immediately stood along with Blaise and Theodore and walked over to her table. Cedric looked on with extreme interest and Harry looked like he was ready to hex Malloy but didn't move yet. When Draco reached the table he cleared his voice softly to get her attention and then introduced himself.
"Hello Potter," he said politely and with a small smile.
"Hello, you can call me Elianna, don't love being called by my brothers surname." She answered with an eye roll and the 3 slytherins laughed.
"Of course, I wouldn't want to be associated with Potter either. My names…" he began saying Malloy and hesitated before finishing, "Draco. Draco Malfoy but you can call me Draco. And this is Theo, and Blaise."
She smiled brightly at them all, "nice to meet you Draco. Latin for dragon, nice. I like it!"" she added. "You guys wanna sit down and join me?" She asked. They all nodded and joined her. Harry stood up so fast his chair clattered to the ground behind him but his sisters didn't seem to notice.
Before he could stomp away hermione yanked him down and hissed, "Harry stop it!"
"Dracos got his claws in her already 'Mionie! I gotta do something! She's my sister!" He hissed back but she slapped the back of his head and glared hard.
"You let Dumbledore send her back to that hell hole," she said cruely. "You don't get to act like a brother when it's convenient to you! She doesn't even see you as a brother, she met you once and you sent her away."
"I know!" Harry snipped back. "I didn't mean…it wasn't like that…i…the school is dangerous he was right…and I didn't…"
"Exactly," hermione cut in. "You didn't. You didn't help her. You didn't even write to her! You go over there and be cruel to her first friend and you'll be no better than malfoy was to you on your first day." Harry scoffed but stayed seated watching his sister laughing and smiling with Draco Malloy.
Meanwhile, Cedric was seething watching Elianna smiling at Draco. His mates tried to cheer him up but ever since his break up with Chow over the summer he had felt so empty, and seeing elianna made him feel more alive than he'd ever felt before. He had to speak to her, but he couldn't just walk over like those cocky slytherins!
"That was some impressive wandless magic, with the letter and even more so with the table," Blaise said to Elianna after Draco had finished ranting about gryfendore. Draco gave him an annoyed look but Elianna blushed and it made Draco stop looking so annoyed.
"Yeah," Theo added. "It was wicked. If you're so powerful, why are you here?"
She shrugged and looked down again sadly, "you'd all laugh…"
Draco lightly touched her arm, grabbing her attention and said, "no we won't." His voice was serious and stern. "I won't laugh and if these two do ill hex them for you," he added in a lighter tone.
"I just wanted to meet people like me," she said sadly. "Dumbledore had me grow up in a muggle orphanage and lets just say, kids aren't nice to the freak that can make fire with her mind when she's upset. Just thought…maybe I could actually make friends or something if people weren't so scared of what I could do…" She trailed off.
"I'll be your friend." Draco said softly.
"So will i!" Blaise added and Theo nodded enthusiastically beside them.
"Really?!" Elianna squealed.
"Yes really. Consider yourself the proud procurer of 3 new friends," Draco said cheekily. "But as a friend…come on! You gotta tell us how you made this table! You didn't even have anything to transfigure!"
"I never had a wand…" She said looking down at her hands, embarrassed. "I still don't," she continued, "So I taught myself to use my magic without one. Snapping helps concentrate it. But with the table, since conjuration is harder than manipulation, I used draconian to concentrate it."
"Draconian, the language of dragons?!" Draco asked a little too loudly.
Elianna chuckled and nodded, "yeah. I'm a parselmouth and draconian is very similar so I taught it to myself. Dragons use magic with their native tongue and thousands of years ago wizards could too so I thought I'd try it…"
"You just thought that you'd learn a language that hasn't been spoken in thousands of years to wield an ancient form of magic because you didn't have a wand?" Theo asked slowly.
She laughed again, " I guess put like that and it sounds insane but I didn't really have any other choice."
"Why don't you have a wand?" Draco asked with a hint of concern in his tone.
She opened her mouth to respond but before she could, Harry snapped from behind her. "That's none of your business ferret!"
Elianna rolled her eyes, "oh look, my big brother has come to save me…from friends. How heroic," she finished with sarcasm and began to slow clap.
The three slytherins laughed and she continued, "brother you've managed to protect me from magic, power, a proper education, safety, food, friends, and everything I've ever wanted for 2 years…how about you just leave me alone and stop saving me. I'm having lunch with my friends." She never turned around to look at her brother.
Harry felt the blow from her words but ignored it and in a low voice he said, "malfoy…stay away from my little sister, or,"
But Elianna cut him off, standing up and turning to look at him, "don't you dare threaten him! He's been nicer to me in 5 minutes then you've been my whole life. You left me in that orphanage to rot! You have no idea what happened to me in there! You don't get to send me to my own personal hell and them act like you're my guardian! You didn't protect me!"
"You don't understand!" Harry yelled back. "It's dangerous here. You got teased a little and the orphanage wasn't very nice! But I grew up with people who hated me too Elli! At least you didn't have a crazed murderer after you! I was protecting you!"
Elianna gasped out, "teased?! You think this is about me being teased?!" She began laughing hysterically and the entire great hall began to watch with interest. When she stopped laughing she shrugged off her robes and began unbuttoned the top buttons on her shirt, everyone seemed to squirm a bit out of discomfort or something else but she revealed a white muscle shirt beneath it. Once she was clad only in that thin muscle shirt she whispered a counter charm for glamours and her glamours dropped.
Her body was covered in burn scars and on top of that were scars where words had been carved into her flesh on every inch that they could see. "Freak," "witch," "satanist," "evil," "antichrist," "repent," and so many more. There were scars down her forearms where a blade had obviously carved up her veins more than once. And her throat had scars that looked like she'd been hung. The skin on the right side of her face looked like it had been burned with a hotplate and probably the worst of all her mouth had small perforations around it and scars where her mouth had obviously been sewn shut more than once and her fingers and wrist stuck out at odd angles like the bones had healed wrong over and over.
"This look like a little bullying, 'brother'?" She asked in a cold voice. Before he could answer Draco and his friends were up and softly reaching for her hands.
"We need to take you to the hospital wing," Draco insisted. "They can heal as much as possible!" She didn't respond but they gently led her away as Harry just stared at where she had been standing. He didn't know what to do or say. His breath seemed to grow labored and he collapsed.
Draco, Blaise and Theo gently led Elianna to the hospital wing and though she didn't speak she didn't fight them. She noticed they were all looking away and avoiding looking at her at all costs and she sighed and with a wave of her hand her glamours snapped back into place. "Sorry," she grumbled.
Draco stopped and tilted his head to the side, "for what?" He asked.
"For leaving them off, I know I look disgusting," she grumbled back.
Draco scoffed, "you could never look disgusting. We were looking away to preserve your modesty and because you were in a vulnerable state, a state of undress, and it's polite. But you don't have to keep your guard up with friends. Or masks. Or glamors." He finished firmly.
She nodded softly and they continued to the infirmary. When they arrived Madam Pomfrey made her drop the glamors before performing standard diagnostic spells on her. She grew Misty eyes while looking the girl over but tried to maintain her composure. She suggested the boys return to dinner but elianna protested and the boys all refused to leave her so she allowed them to stay. Shortly after Hermionie came in with Ron and a floating unconscious Harry. Pomfrey got him a bed and shooed the others away before they could speak to Elianna who had hidden herself behind Draco and Blaise like overprotective big brothers, tho she seemed to press closer to draco's back than Blaise, not that he minded.
When the diagnostic spell was finished a scroll appeared and unraveled to the floor and down the hall before running into a wall and stopping. Madame Pomfrey read it and began crying before reaching even the halfway point. She continued on until something made her stop and drop the scroll to run off the lavatory and vomit. Elianna was busying herself with braiding Theos hair and didn't seem bothered but Draco just stared at the parchment with itchy fingers, as did Blaise. They wanted to know what had happened to their friend, but they wouldn't betray her privacy.
"You can read it if you like," Elianna said in a sing song voice while braiding. "But no pity looks after or I'll wipe your memory of it." She threatened before snapping her fingers and making theos hair grow longer to give her more to play with.
Theo didn't seem to mind and just shooed Draco towards the parchment. Draco had grown up with Belitrix Lestrange as his aunt and his own father was a devout death eater, he'd seen people tortured since he was a child. He'd seen people murdered. He'd heard the screams of women who were being taken advantage of by death eaters for fun. He'd seen his mother beat for no reason. He himself had been put under the effect of the crutiatus most of the summer to "toughen him up," but reading all the horrible things that the orphanage had done to Elianna made Dracos blood boil.
He hated these muggles so much, and the spell the mediwitch used would only list injuries that had effects that Elianna was still experiencing…so she could have so many more injuries not in this list. The thought made Draco turn from angry to disgusted and then simply numb. When he read what happened when elianna turned 10, he had to stop and hand the scroll to Blaise.
Age: 10
Incident: Burned and Buried Alive
Injuries sustained:
4th degree burns sustained on 97% of body
All major organs & 82% of bones affected
Temporary blindness; eyes burned entirely to ash
Fell into a magically induced coma for 3 months and was buried alive while comatose
While buried, dirt was inhaled and both lungs collapsed from pressure
27 bones were crushed from weight of the soil including ribs, arms, collar bones etc
All muscles atrophied
Organ failure of most major organs
After waking from coma with most organ damage healed and eyes regenerated, patient clawed to the surface from 9ft underground resulting in:
48 fractures
37 broken bones
all finger nails being ripped off
7 dislocated joints
1 punctured lung
It took everything in Draco to not to run behind Pomphrey and join her but he took a moment to steady himself before meeting Eliannas eyes again. He steeled himself and made sure to not have any pity in his eyes, only compassion and when he looked up she was already watching him carefully. Draco knew she was deciding if she'd let him keep the memory of what he'd just read and they held each other's gaze for a few moments before she gave a slight nod and continued braiding Theos hair. Blaise read the parchment further than Draco or Pomphrey had and when he finally reached the bottom the mediwitch was emerging with a red face and redder eyes. She apologized for her actions and took the parchment from Blaise to continue reading.
Blaise kept his back to Draco, Elianna, and Theo but in a low and dangerous voice said, "I Blaise Lorenzo Zabinni, lord of house Zabinni and speaker of the houses of Valentino, Mancini, Morelli, and Ricasoli make this vow before magic herself and all present witnesses," Madame Pomfrey gasped softly and made to stop Blaise but Elianna waved her hand and a silver line encircled him, keeping her at bay and he continued, "should I ever meet any of the people that hurt or condoned the abuse of Elianna Potter at that orphanage, I will kill them or do everything in my power to make sure they die, and if i do not let mother magic take back her gifts from me. Magic hear this vow and may the gods have no mercy for their souls. So mote it be."
"Mr. Zabinni, what have you done?!" Pomfrey screeched.
But he met her eyes and in a cold tone said, "what the Wizarding world should have done years ago. I don't believe all muggles deserve to die but I do believe that anyone magic or not who would burn a child alive then bury her do not deserve to live themselves. And before you condemn me, maybe you should finish that scroll." He spit out and walked over to Elianna before encasing her in a firm hug. She gasped softly then hugged him back tightly. They stayed like that for a few minutes, even after Blaise had planned to let go she held on tighter so he stayed, content to stay as long as she needed.
When Pomfrey reached the end of the scroll she began hysterically crying until her breath became labored and she fainted. Draco cautiously walked over and picked the scroll up off the ground and read the last entry:
Age: 12
Incident: Raped and had organs harvested
Injuries sustained:
Mouth sewn shut and resewn whenever stitches were pulled out by the patient
Raped continuously over the course of 10 days by over 100 different men
Tears to the tissue in both the vagina and anus that were then rubbed with salt and raping continued with condoms
Had jaw broken open by force so she could not bite anyone
Had teeth pulled out one at a time to prevent biting
Had arms and legs dislocated to keep compliant
Had vocal cords burned to prevent screaming
Sustained 62 broken or fractured bones during the raping
Had her sternum cut open without anesthesia and her left kidney, uterus, right lung, and parts of the liver, pancreas, and intestines were removed
eEyes and 47% of skin removed
After organs were harvested, patient fell into her 27th magically induced coma of her life and her organs regenerated
Once awake they harvested her organs again, 13 times, and when she didn't slip into a magical coma because her magical core was extinguished, she was sewn up
wrists were slit to the bone and she was hung by the neck in a closet alone to die
Draco felt an arm on his shoulder and realized Theo had been reading over his shoulder. He held the scroll for Theo to finish and when he had they both stood there for a moment, unsure of how to process what they had read. She was a child. And they Raped her, beat her, cut her organs out, and left her for dead.
"How did you survive?" Theo asked quietly.
"The hanging or the burning?" She asked softly, having moved on to braiding Blaise's hair.
"Burning?" Theo asked and Draco handed him the scroll and pointed to the injuries from when Elianna turned 9. When he finished he took a deep breath. "Any of it…" he said sadly.
"The burning actually stopped hurting eventually while i was still on fire…turned out once your nerves burn you stop feeling. So I'm not really sure but when they saw I wasn't dead they quickly buried me. When I came back to the orphanage they called me an 'antichrist' and started cutting words into me. The hanging was just uncomfortable…least painful part of my day really. After having your organs and uterus ripped out and being skinned alive…you kinda look forward to the dying part. My wrists were bleeding but I felt warmth everywhere and a light encompassed me. Then the next thing I knew I woke up in bed, bloody and in pain, but alive. I think some of the organs even regenerated. I assume magic saved me. After that I left the orphanage and decided I'd do whatever it took never to go back…so I figured out how to get here." She spoke matter of factly, like we were discussing potion ingredients instead of her attempted murders.
Draco and Theo shared a look between themselves and with Blaise walking over to pull her into a hug like he had. If no one had protected her in this world they would.
"They cut your organs out?" Harry caught them all off guard, whispering from a few beds away.
"Yes Potter! They did that and many worst things to your sister, where you sent her! Everything they did to her after you sent her back is on you!" Draco yelled out, pulling Elianna tighter into the hug.
Harry staggered a bit and leaned against the wall to hold himself up, "but…but Dumbledore said you'd be safe…" he muttered with his head spinning.
Elianna laughed a cold laugh and sneered, "yeah I sure felt safe when Father Patrick was sewing my mouth shut so I couldn't scream as he Raped me." Harry flinched but she continued, "Even safer when he was cutting out my kidney for a sick muggle boy who he felt deserved it more. You know, they actually used me like a fucking organ factory for their church! For 6 months! Cutting out organs and then letting magic regrow them before they could do it again! Felt real fucking safe during that!"
Harry had tears dripping down his cheeks but he didn't speak, just cried and when his eyes landed on the scroll Elianna scoffed. "You wanna see what they did to me, big brother?" Before he could answer she pulled away from Draco and Theo and stomped towards him and yelled something in a deep and twisted language before saying, "then go ahead and see!" And flinging her arms towards him, a wave of red light struck him and he fell to his knees, eyes glowing white. After a moment he began to shake and eventually he fell to the ground shaking.
"What did you do?" Draco asked softly at her side.
"He's seeing everything they ever did to me," she said, reaching for his hand and squeezing it tightly. "Through my eyes. In chronological order. He won't feel all the pain, I don't wanna kill him. But it won't be painless." The four of them watched Harry convulse on the ground for what felt like hours before he stopped and his eyes faded back to green. His wild gaze dashed around the room before meeting Eliannas eyes and before anyone could speak he got up and ran.
No one followed. He ran out of the hospital wing and kept running. Out of the castle to the edge of the black lake where he keeled over and began to puke. He remained there crying and puking until Hermionie and Ron found him a bit later with the marauders map in hand.
Meanwhile Elianna had braided Blaises hair into tight intricate braids along his scalp in tribal looking shapes down to the nape of his neck and had moved on to braiding the sides of Draco's hair into twisting vine like patterns when Pomfrey approached cautiously and cleared her throat to speak, "Potter, I'd like to,"
"Elianna," she cut in, "I hate the name Potter. I never knew my parents and I hate their son…Elianna, but not Potter." She said, continuing to braid.
Pomfrey cleared her throat and continued, "Elianna then. I would like to reach out to St. Mundigos for healers so we can send you to get the propper care…"
Elianna froze and the boys around her felt her whole body tense up and firmly answered, "no."
When madam Pomfrey made to argue she continued, "I'm not going to any hospital. And no one is making me. The last time someone decided what was best for me on my behalf and sent me somewhere, horrible things happened." She laughed a bitter laugh and added, "hell, every time someone makes a decision for my own good horrible things happen. Last time I was in a hospital, my organs were being harvested. I'm not going. And you'll not make me. You try it and i promise it won't end well." She ended firmly, crossing her arms.
Draco and Blaise shared a look before Blaise nodded and Draco whispered, "I will be right back, I have a feeling this will get worse before it gets better…" and took off out of the hospital wing to the nearest fireplace.
Pomfrey called after him to stop but he ignored her and continued on. He firecalled his mother and said, "mother I have a situation, pomegranate. In the hospital wing. Blaise and Theo are with me, but it's…someone new."
She nodded immediately and replied only, "15 minutes." Before disappearing in the fireplace and Draco returned to find Elianna holding her hands over her ears and yelling as Pomfrey was trying to explain why she had to be relocated.
Blaise was trying to comfort her to no avail and Theo was standing with his wand in hand staring down the mediwitch when the doors were thrown open and Dumbledore walked in flanked by McGonagall and Snape.
"What is the meaning of this? Poppy what's going on with Potter?" He asked after seeing the scene before him.
"She needs to be moved to St mundigos headmaster!" She said frantically before pushing the scroll into Dumbledore's hands. Him and the other professors read but professor McGonagall almost immediately gasped and looked over at young potter with her hands covering her ears.
"Albus…how could…the muggles…they…how could this happen?!" She screamed outraged.
"She must be transferred immediately!" She added urgently, taking a step towards her.
Draco, Theo, and Balise had their wands trained on her in an instant and she raised her hands in protest, "now boys," she said calmly, "I understand she is your friend…but she needs help. Urgently! Her magical core could be under strain."
Draco looked at Elianna and considered what she said but shook his head, "you've moved heaven and earth to bring healers here for Harry Potter when he's injured because he refused to be transfered! You can do the same for her. She doesn't trust any of you! And why should she?! And she has every reason in the world to hate hospitals! Forcing her will only make things worst…she could accidentally apparate herself somewhere else and we'd never be able to help her!" He screamed, outraged.
Dumbledore finished reading the scroll while Snape had seemed to zone out and was trying to control his breathing. When Dumbledore looked up he had a look of fear in his eyes and whispered, "I was wrong."
"Damn right you were! Those muggles tortured her! Tried to kill her! And you sent her back!" Blaise yelled, taking a step towards the headmaster but he didn't seem to notice or react.
"Harry Potter isn't the chosen one," Dumbledore whispered almost to himself. "Elianna is. The prophecy. All this time I thought it was about Harry. I was wrong." Everyone stood quietly waiting for him to elaborate but he didn't.
"What prophecy?" Elianna asked softly. Everyone turned to her, seemingly having forgotten she was there.
"Years ago, a seer foretold a prophecy. I thought it was about Harry. I thought…I didn't know how bad the orphanage was treating you. I never checked…" he trailed off.
Everyone began arguing amongst themselves but Elianna looked up at and whispered, "mother magic, hear my plea. If there is a prophecy about me, play it now for all to see, so I shall find my destiny."
An etherial voice began speaking, stopping everyone at once:
'When the seventh moon breathes its last sigh, a dual star shall light the sky. Born to those who thrice defied the dark lord, their fates intertwined, their destinies scored. One shall wield a strength the other does not, a gift from magic herself at a cost.
One shall know hardship, the other pain's kiss, yet from these trials, they'll find their bliss. A power unknown to the dark lord emerges, in their hearts, a secret sword and purpose. When the twins unite under the harvest's glow, the chosen one shall choose the path they follow.
Their choice shall shape the Wizarding realm's fate, a decision heavy, a burden great. Choose amiss, and chaos shall reign, an unworthy ruler, a world in pain. Choose aright, and they shall rise, vanquishing foes, claiming their rightful prize. Light and darkness matter not, only the intention of the chosen ones heart.
When the voice stopped everyone stood silently, letting it sink in what had been revealed. In the silence the sound of glass shattering reverberated through the room and all eyes turned to the door where Harry stood with Hermionie and Ron, a shattered glass of water at his feet.
"She's the chosen one?" He asked in a broken voice. "But you said it was me. That we had to keep her apart from me until I was ready to defeat the dark lord…how?"
Before Dumbledore could answer Draco's mother stormed into the room, flanked by Lady Zabini, Lady Green grass, and Amelia Bones. "I want to know what is going on here, now." She said firmly.
Draco strategically grabbed Eliannas hand and maneuvered her behind him while everyone was gawking at his mother and after nodding to Blaise and Theo they all strode to stand behind his mother with Elianna.
"Elianna needs to be transferred to St. Mundigos at once!" Madame Pomfrey screeched and
Professor McGonagalls just nodded vigorously.
Elianna clung tighter to dracos back and whispered, "Please don't let them take me."
Lady Malfoy looked at her son and asked softly, "estne malum punicum?" And when her son nodded she turned back to the headmaster and firmly said, "no. She'll go nowhere with any of you. Where are her guardians?" She asked fiercely, her allies stepping closer to close the ranks and hide the children behind them.
"She has none," Dumbledore said simply. An orphan from a muggle orphanage. I suppose they would be the guardian,"
"No!" Elianna screamed. "After everything they did they've lost all ties to me! If you ever send me back there I'll burn it to the ground and burn every last soul inside it including myself! I'll burn your world's only chance!" Draco turned to face her and hugged her tightly whispering comforting words to her as Blaise and Theo stood at either side of him in a protective stance.
"Who is her magical guardian then?!" Narcissa demanded.
Everyone was silent and after a nudge from McGonagall Dumbledore whispered, "she doesn't have one. I never allowed one to be assigned so she could not attend any magic school. I wanted her to stay hidden in the muggle world until the right time. For the greater good," he said, but his heart wasn't in it.
Everyone was silent for a moment and Lady malfoy looked to Amelia Bones for guidance but she looked unsure as well.
"This has never happened before…I don't know who her magical guardian would be," she said in an uneasy voice.
Elianna again looked up and whispered quietly to the heavens, "Mother Magic, hear my plea, all past guardians have failed me, stuck in the hands of those unkind, my only solace in the friends I find. But I've no magical guardian at my side, to protect me from those who harmed and lied, I seek protection, strong and just, in you, Mother Magic, I place my trust. So mote it be."
And a piece of parchment appeared before Elianna, glowing in a bright white light. It was a contract for a magical guardian, but the guardian was blank. A glowing feather quill appeared beside it and Elianna stared at it in awe as did everyone else in the room.
"How did she do that? What is it?" Ron gasped. But Hermione elbowed him in the stomach and he bit his lip.
"It's a contract for a magic guardian, signed by magic herself." Draco said, voice filled with awe. "I think Ellie needs to pick a guardian and write their name." When he looked back at Elianna she looked puzzled and he tilted his head in question.
"I don't know who," she said softly with a sad shrug. "I trust you. And Blaise. And Theo. But no one else…and I don't know anyone else." She ended miserably.
Blaise met his mother's eye and after a moment cleared his throat, "draco's father is not the kindest man, and neither is Theo's…no offense," he added, looking at his friends who shrugged and nodded. "But my father is dead and my mother is kind and fair. She's one of the strongest women I know in this world and when protecting me she can be the fiercest. If you'd agree, I've always wanted a sister."
Elianna smiled and hugged Blaise tightly, looked to his mother cautiously for reasurment. Lady Zabini nodded softly with a smile and said, "I always wanted a daughter, but after blaises father died I knew I would never carry another man's child. I would be honored to be your guardian."
"This is insane!" Dumbledore shouted. "Children do not pick their own guardians! Lily and James Potter would not want their daughter raised by just anyone! Her guardian should be Molly Weasley or Agusta Longbottom, friends of her parents!" He insisted.
"They're dead! What they would want doesn't matter anymore! And Lady magic gave the choice to me! I don't need your permission, and I don't care who were friends with my parents!"
Without a single hesitation she grabbed the quill and wrote down, 'Blaise' mom', on the contract and watched as magic modified it to say Lady Zabini, mother to Blaise Lorenzo Zabinni. Blaise felt a pull deep in his core and looked to his mother who smiled.
"It seems mother magic has accepted this contract in the name of magic, so mote it be," lady Zabini said with a smile to Elianna. "Welcome to the family little one, it may be only a magical adoption but the Zabini family keeps to the old traditions. You're as good as blood to us now."
Elianna smiled shyly and said, "thank you."
"Well," Narcissa said with a clap, "since that's settled now, we'll be pulling our children from school until further notice. They're bright young boys and girl...and they'll catch up quickly when they return, Severus can visit daily with homework for them to work on if you wish."
Snape nodded but Dumbledore began to protest before Amelia Bones cut in, "now headmaster that wasn't a request. It was simply her informing you of what was to happen. I've already gotten the leave approved with the minister and attempting to stop anyone will be considered kidnapping. Little Elianna needs obvious medical care and if these boys' guardians feel they are needed at home then you have no right to deny them!" She finished with a huff and the ladies all turned to leave with the boys and Elianna ahead of them.
Dumbledore protested as they left but it fell on deaf ears.
They reached the edge of the school grounds and Narcissa thanked Amelia Bones for her help. She nodded curtly and with a snap she apparated away. "Alright, now I think you boys have some explaining to do, and then we can arrange medical care," narcissa said to the children.
Elianna clung to Blaise's arm and shook slightly but he wrapped his arm around her protectively and said, "she doesn't want to go to mundigos and once you understand why not you'll all agree. Can we go to Zabinni Manor please mother? Then we can explain…" He trailed off but looked up at his mother hopefully.
She nodded with her eyes squinted a bit at her son and pulled a golden bracelet off her wrist. With a tap of her wand it expanded to the size of a Hula hoop and Blaise whispered to Elianna, "hold on tight to me and we'll go to my home. Mom can help once we get there."
She nodded into his shoulder and wrapped both arms around him. With a quiet whisper a golden thread of light encircled them both and tied them together. Blaise kept one arm around his sister and held onto the enlarged bracelet with his other and nodded to his mother. Everyone else grabbed on as well and in an instant the portkey was activated. Elianna had never experienced anything like it before but she kept her face tucked into Blaises shoulder and held on tight.
When her feet hit the ground she opened her eyes and looked around at the view. They were standing on the veranda of a beautiful mansion sitting atop a cliff that overlooked the sea.
Elianna had never seen the ocean before and without thinking he released Blaise and walked to the edge to look at the rolling waved. She didn't pay any attention to her friends as they explained everything that had happened and when she heard the quiet gasps from behind her she tried to drown it out with the sound of the waves.
After a while a hand on her shoulder made her jump and Blaise apologized, "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. We explained what we could. They want to talk to you, but me and Draco and Theo will be right next to you. Okay?"
Elianna nodded and with her brothers hand on her arm she was led inside to a room with a fireplace and couches. She pulled Blaise over to the largest couch and made sure to sit herself in the middle with Blaise to her right. When she caught Dracos eye she reached her left hand out to him and he pulled Theo with him and they made their way to her left side. Draco sat next to Elianna and Theo sat to his left, and Elianna held Dracos hand firmly while tucking herself into Blaises shoulder. When they were settled, Lady Zabini and Lady Malfoy sat together on the opposite couch, the others having gone home.
"You wanted to talk to me?" Elianna whispered out softly.
Lady Zabini spoke first, "yes," she said gently. "The boys explained some but there are things we still don't understand. Most things can wait but some things can't…you are in desperate need of healing."
Elianna stiffened and Blaise pulled her tighter into his side as his mother quickly continued, "Blaise has already explained that you won't go to a hospital, and he threatened to take you and run away if we tried. We won't force you to go…but we need to bring healers here then. And we need you to do as they say so they can help you. Alright?" She asked gently.
"What will they have me do?" Elianna asked in a shaky voice.
"They may have you drink potions on a schedule to help you," blaise began to explain gently. "or drop your glamor to see your injuries, or apply ointments to your skin…things like that. They won't do anything to hurt you." Elianna shook a little harder but nodded to her new guardian with her lip between her teeth.
"Can Blaise and Draco and Theo go with me? To make sure they don't do anything?" She asked in a scared young voice.
"Of course, they may have to leave for privacy but I can step in when they step out and then we can trade back once you are decent again." Lady Zabini offered. Elianna seemed to hate the idea of them leaving at all and her eyes teared up but she nodded.
"It's late and I know you're all tired so we're contacting all the best doctors first thing in the morning, until then you can all get some sleep and we will deal with everything tomorrow, alright?" Narcissa asked.
Elianna turned to cling to Draco this time, "can they stay with me?" She begged.
Narcissa looked hesitant and sighed, "it isn't appropriate to have a young lady sleep in a bed with young men at this age, they can stay in rooms alongside yours?" She offered and Elianna sniffled into Dracos shoulder.
"But in the orphanage they had 20-30 of us per room and there were boys and girls. I've never slept in a room by myself before," she whimpered out and Blaise and Draco both held her tightly.
"If you keep her from me, I'll just go into her room anyway," Blaise declared. "She's my sister. Brothers and sisters sleep in the same room all the time!" He argued.
His mother gave him a stern look, "you know it's inappropriate for even siblings to sleep together after puberty. You've never argued with me like you have today before and I don't like the tone you insist on using, son. Now I said you'll all be sleeping alone, Elianna is plenty old enough to sleep alone."
He felt guilty but his need to protect his sister overwhelmed it and he stood his ground, "I apologize for any disrespect and for my improper tone but I do not apologize for my actions or for the arguments themselves. If aunt Lenora needed you, nothing would be able to stand in your way including what the world deems is inappropriate." His mother stared him down but he didn't budge at all.
"Please don't make me sleep alone?" Elianna pleaded to her guardian but she sternly shook her head.
"I'm sorry but it's just not appropriate," she replied. Blaise began to argue and Draco and Theo jumped in all yelling over each other but Elianna could see in her guardians eyes she wouldn't change her mind and when the tension in the room felt too suffocating Elianna stepped away from her protectors and hung her head at her new guardian.
"It's fine," Elianna whispered out softly. "I don't want you and your mum to fight. I'll just sleep alone. Please show me where I may sleep for the night ma'am." Blaise made to protest but she silently said a spell that jumbled his thoughts just enough to deter him.
The rest of the night was oddly quiet, Elianna didn't speak another word, simply nodding or shaking her head when asked a question and when the boys hugged her goodnight she didn't hug back or even seem to notice. She just stared off into space, grunted, and shut the door to her room. Once alone Elianna used every spell she knew to silence the room and ward it against intruders and when she was satisfied she finally broke. She let tears drip down her face like a facet and as a strangled scream left her lips she crumbled to her knees with a sickening crunch.
She knew she had just broken something but she didn't care. Elianna hated being alone. She spent so much time in the orphanage alone she sometimes hoped they'd come to torture her to have some interaction. When she was alone the images of her tormentors swirled in her head and she couldn't silence the voices that echoed through her mind. She wrapped her arms around her middle and cried until her vision blurred and screamed until her throat gave out.
She pictured herself back in the orphanage, cold and dirty and alone at the bottom of the well she used to stay in when she was being punished, which was often. The room seemed to change with her thoughts and before she knew it she was in the bottom of the stone well. The door to the room was gone. And part of Elianna wondered if she had dreamt everything, if she had never truly left the well. Her mind had played tricks on her before like that while she stayed trapped for days on end. She tried to focus her magic on bringing the door back but nothing happened and full of despair, she began hitting her head against the stone wall of the well. She did this until blood blured her vision and continued harder until darkness consumed her.
