Chapter 3: Fight in Hogsmeade Square
Wands at the ready, the three students braced for the ensuing battle. As the troll made its way towards Josephine she immediately casted Levioso before hitting it with a basic cast a few times until the troll swung at her and she had to duck.
Sebastian and Ominis both had their wands out, trying to get a hit in on the troll to help their friend. As Ominis was about to cast a depulso on the angry, club-swinging, troll Josephine suddenly felt some powerful magic overcome her. She gathered it in her hands and forced it at the troll, immediately making it crumble into pieces.
“Bloody hell!” Sebastian yelled after the troll that was now scattered about Hogsmeade Square, “How did you do that?”
“I don’t know. It just overcame me,” Josephine said still stunned by her actions
The three friends then made their way to the Three Broomsticks for a refreshing Butterbeer and a cool down after the chaos that just occurred.
“Hi, three Butterbeers please,” Josephine said to the barmaid as the three friends approached the bar and sat down at the stools.
“Coming right up,” the barmaid, Sirona, said as she magically filled three mugs for the students. “That was quite a fight there.”
“Yeah. It was certainly unexpected,” Josephine said, chuckling. She still couldn't believe that she’d barely been here a week and she’d already found trouble- Harry would be so proud.
“That’s one way to put it,” Ominis muttered as three strange individuals entered the tavern.
“Victor,” Sirona simply said as she went to stand in front of the three students in a protective stance.
When Sebastian and Josephine saw Sirona draw her wand the two did the same before Sebastian whispered to Ominis to raise his wand as the other boy was unaware of what exactly was happening in front of him.
“I’m here to see the new student,”
“You have no business here,” Sirona said simply
Victor Rookwood looked around the tavern, realizing that many others had drawn their wands and he knew that this wasn’t the opportune time to get the girl- he would have to find a more discreet scenario.
“Let’s go,” he said to his crony before facing the barmaid,
“The place really has gone to rubbish, Sirona.”
Victor then walked out of The Three Broomsticks and the others sighed in relief- even Ominis, who could tell that he had left from the sound of his footsteps and the door opening and closing.
“Well that was something,” Sebastian said a moment later, wanting to break the silence somehow.
“You could say that again,” Josephine said but she was internally panicking at how quickly she had found danger.
She didn’t know if she was truly ready to defeat evil forces again. It hadn’t been that long since the war and she still had so much trauma that she was working through. She still almost always had nightmares- which mostly centered around Hermione and something horrific being done to her. Although she knew she really didn’t have a choice - and she had chosen to go to this new time.
As Josephine was lost in thought Ominis, too, was lost in thought. He couldn’t keep his mind off of the new student. Something about her made him drawn to her and he couldn’t ignore the butterflies that he felt in his stomach anytime she was around; but he had never felt anything like this before. This was all new and he didn't really know how to handle it. Yes, he had had a crush on a fellow Slytherin girl here and there over the years but nothing like this before.
While he did feel something towards Josephine he also knew that there was some sort of secret she was hiding from him and Sebastian. Although that was fair as he himself had many secrets that he hid from others- some even from Sebastian at times. Except after everything that he had been through growing up he didn’t really know if he could trust someone who had secrets- he didn’t know if he’d feel comfortable opening up to someone like that. But he did still feel things for the girl and he was intended to think on that and maybe - just maybe - act on it.
