Harry lay awake in bed unable to sleep for the seventh night in a row. The rain pelted against the window but even the torrential rain that fell wasn't enough to drown out the snoring that came from George Weasley. While known for not having the best luck he still didn't know why he was unlucky enough to be rooming with the other boy. It was a nightmare. He had barely slept a wink since they had returned to school over a week ago. Usually, the snoring became so bad that he gave up on sleeping in his bed and fled to the living room to sleep on the couch.
Honestly though, even with the distance, with walls between them, it usually wasn't enough. The snoring permeated the dorm and Harry would stare at the redhead that was sound asleep with envy. He debated waking up the slumber snorer so that he could be just as sleep deprived as him but decided against it.
He just wanted to sleep. That wasn't too much to ask. He had an early class with a professor known for not tolerating lateness.
When he complained about it to Ron, George's brother, his friend commiserated with him. Apparently, it was well known in the Weasley family that you needed earplugs to sleep next to George. It had gotten so bad that at one point even Fred, his twin brother, had changed from sharing a room with George to sharing with Ron.
Harry sat on the couch and decided that this weekend, when they went to Hogsmeade, he was going to make some purchases. Actually, a lot of purchases. For once he was going to use his wealth for more than just the basics. He was going to get everything that would be conducive to cutting off all sound while he slept. He would even buy soundproof curtains to surround his bed if needed. Tonight, would be the last night with lost sleep.
He lay down on the couch, his red blanket that Mrs. Weasley had knit for him wrapped around his body, ready to get some sleep now that the level of snoring had dulled to background noise. He had finally relaxed and was just drifting off when the wind outside picked up, the torrential downpour grew even heavier than before, and thunder rumbled in the distance and lightning lit up the room.
Harry heaved a heavy sigh, apparently even mother nature didn't want him to sleep that night.
