Kakashi quietly took his seat. Despite not wanting to draw attention, the sorting Hat had already made him noticeable. "It's too late now," he sighed deeply. A boy with nearly as light-colored hair as his approached and sat down. "Malfoy, Draco Malfoy," the smug-looking boy introduced himself. Kakashi glanced at him, recognizing the arrogance typical of some children. "Hatake Kakashi."
"Normally, I wait for others to arrive for introductions, but if someone is going to be my Subordinate, they should be as interesting as Potter at least." "I'm trying to eat," Kakashi thought, "I don't need arrogant people."
As the day neared its end, Kakashi sighed. Draco seemed important to Slytherin, given the apparent dislike from the entire house. Fortunately, Kakashi preferred solitude, so this situation suited him.
The first class was about potions, and Kakashi brought extra books from Diagon Alley, reading while waiting for the professor. Draco and his group whispered, drawing Kakashi's attention. "Stay calm, Kakashi. You've dealt with Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke; these are just kids' games," he thought with a hint of sadness. "If I find them, I'll kick their butts for not following me."
When the kids became noisy, Kakashi learned the basics of potions. Soon, a man came in, discussing what they would do and mentioning Kakashi's responsibility for their house points. "Seems being the best is necessary to silence these kids," Kakashi thought. "This year, our first spell will be a temporary Forgetfulness Charm. Today, we'll cover the theory, and on Friday, we'll brew the potion. I want everyone to open their Advanced Potion-Making books and review quickly. Then, I'll explain the process."
As everyone read, Kakashi examined the cauldrons and other equipment. He felt the gaze of others on him. "Mr. Hatake, how do you plan to brew the potion without reading the book, even if you're as smart as I've heard?" Snape asked, raising an eyebrow. Kakashi cleared his throat. "I've already read it, sir." Snape raised his eyebrows further. "Then read the other pages."
"Sorry, but I've finished the potion lesson and most other subjects twice already. I can almost recite them," Kakashi replied. Whispering started among the students. Snape looked at Kakashi and sighed. "Alright, Mr. Hatake, if you can explain how to make the Forgetfulness Potion, even from memory, Slytherin gets 10 points." Kakashi smiled. "Thank you, Professor. If I recall correctly, among the main ingredients are Water from the Lethe River, juniper berries, and Valerian sprigs. We should mix all the ingredients in specified proportions and simmer."
Snape frowned slightly but was impressed by the intelligence of his new student. "Alright, Slytherin gets 10 points."
During the break, not many people approached Kakashi. Probably because he was in Slytherin, students from other houses kept their distance due to Draco's behavior. In the background, an orange-haired boy was talking to Harry Potter as they headed to another class. Potter seemed just as Kakashi expected—only surviving. Survival is not what matters; what matters is gaining strength and fulfilling one's mission. Potter might be too young to understand, but Kakashi wasn't.
"Hello, if you're alone, can I sit with you in Defense Against the Dark Arts? It seems there's no space left." Kakashi slid a bit. "Hello to you too," he smiled, although it was hard to tell behind the mask. "I'm Hermione Granger, though you didn't seem to mind having a Slytherin in Gryffindor."
"I'm Hatake Kakashi. Well, our lot doesn't really like me; they're not even sure if I'm pure-blood, maybe my parents are Muggles. I also told Malfoy that I don't care about his family, so they don't like me either." "I understand; you don't know your family. I didn't mean to upset you." "Well, I don't really care, there's no problem. I grew up in an orphanage, and the headmistress is quite a nice person. She panicked when I got a letter from Hogwarts, thinking some lunatic was after me."
"Haha, my family had a weird reaction too. At first, they thought someone was making fun of us, then we realized it was real when Hagrid came." "The professor is coming; let's be quiet." "Huh?" "My ears are quite good; he'll be here soon."
From the moment Quirrell entered the class, Kakashi didn't like him. Although Hermione saw the professor as a good person, Kakashi's ANBU instincts were wary. After whispering a warning to Hermione, Kakashi inwardly chuckled. "Hermione, in my opinion, we should stay away from Quirrell." This left Hermione a bit uneasy and intrigued. "But why? He seems perfectly fine." Kakashi sighed, "He may not look like it, but I have excellent instincts. I may be a Slytherin, but trust me. I never betray loyalty. Quirrell is dangerous and probably hiding something." Hermione looked at Q
uirrell and then nodded.
