Hermione and Ron sat in front of a tall, bush Christmas tree. Its branches were bare, just waiting to be adorned with decorations.

Ron looked around and saw the large amount of decorations that Hermione had pulled out of storage. He had never given much thought to the work that went into decorating since his mum normally handled it but seeing the lights, the ornaments, the tinsel, and things. He didn't even recognize he didn't know where to start.

"Here, you can work on this," Hermione said and she handed him what looked like a ball of lights.

Ron nodded and began work while Hermione started to sort through everything she had found.

After twenty minutes, Hermione held a box filled with ornaments ready to start while Ron still struggled with a tangled mess of twinkling lights.

Hermione set down the box, reached over, and took the lights from Ron, "Let me help with that."

Hermione deftly untangled the lights with practiced ease, her fingers worked swiftly through the knotted stands. She handed the know de-tangled mass of lights back to the grumpy redhead.

"You're welcome," she said.

"I wasn't thanking you," Ron grumbled under his breath as he stood up from the floor.

Ron took charge of the decorating and started to wrap the lights around the tree. However, as he continued, he noticed that Hermione had stopped organizing and was now just watching him with a furrowed brow.

"What?" he asked.

"Are you trying to burn the house down?" Hermione asked with a chuckle.

"I thought more lights would make it look better," Ron said defensively.

Hermione rolled her eyes but had a small smile on her lips, "Less is more. Think festive, not fire hazard."

Ron grumbled good-naturedly and left Hermione to arrange the lights to ensure they were evenly spaced and not too overwhelming. After she was done, they moved on to hanging the ornaments.

"Just the star," Hermione said, and she looked up at the top of the tree, pondering how to get the star up on the tip.

"Hold on," Ron said, and he bent down, grabbed hold of Hermione's thighs, and stood up so that she was now seated on his shoulders. Hermione let out a small shriek that quickly turned to laughter.

After the star was in its rightful place they stood back and admired the tree that now sparkled with a warm and inviting glow.

"Looks good, doesn't it?" Ron said as he gazed at the tree.

"Yes, it does," Hermione agreed.
