Reggies silly summer πŸ’β™€οΈ

"Regulus, come downstairs," Walburga's high shrill voice echoed through the cold gray house.

"Yes, Mother," Regulus agreed as he tied his hair up; she hated how long it was.

Regulus made his way down to the living room; 'living' was a strong word to describe this sad place. In the room sat Walburga Black, Orion Black, and someone Regulus had never seen before but had heard stories of. The man looked uncanny, as if he were not truly human but still had some features. He must have been beautiful at some point, but by now, his skin was closer to gray, and his eyes were sunken and red, the color of blood.

"Regulus Arcturus Black," said the man in a snake-like voice. "Yes, master," Regulus said calmly. "Good, sit, boy," he commanded. So Regulus sat across from his mother. "Our master here has offered you a great honor," she said with pride. "Yes," he hissed. "You are a skilled wizard from what I have seen and heard. You have many powerful connections and are about to enter your sixth year at Hogwarts. You are recently 16, if I was told correctly by your mother. So, I propose when you are 16 and a half this winter, you join the ranks and take the Dark Mark. I'm sure you will do great things for our cause, boy, very sure."

Regulus's heart sank β€” a Death Eater! So soon, he was only 16! What happened to not being too involved? Did his parents not see how horrible this was? There was no way of refusing. What would he do about James? Would he tell him, just break up with him? What the hell was he supposed to do?

Regulus shot his mother a pleading look as if to see if she could stop this mess. Instead, she just glared at him. "I'm sure Regulus is very pleased, sir. I will see you in five months now when Regulus is 16 and a half," she said confidently.

Regulus was frozen; it was like the world was moving without him, and he was just a spectator watching his life get flushed away.

The next thing he knew was a door slamming and Walburga shrieking at him. "Regulus, how dare you! I raised you to be better than that! You will accept that offer, you will become a Death Eater, and you will make your family proud!" She shrieked, pulling out her wand. "Crucio!" she commanded, sending Regulus to the floor, seizing in pain as if a hundred hot knives were being stabbed into him with pure red-hot pain. He screamed, "Hogwarts has made you too soft! You better not be hanging around those Gryffindors like Sirius! I instruct you to be with your cousin Narcissa more; she will keep you straight. What do you say?" she commanded. He paused just for a second, but long enough for Walburga to Crucio him again. "I am very grateful and will accept the offer to become a Death Eater," he said weakly.

Walburga threw a snake-like bracelet down at him that immediately slithered and locked tightly around his wrist. "That will make sure this secret is not spilled. Hogwarts has made you so soft and weak, you pathetic child. What happened to you?" She scoffed before leaving him lying on the cool floor in pain, sobbing. The only thing he could think of was James. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.
