Chapter 14:

Less than 2 weeks after the flowers were deposited without incidents, Draco began hearing the rumors about the research lab Professor Granger was starting, then he started seeing the flyers looking for students to join and he couldn’t help but think the two events were connected. While he’d made every effort to make friends with other professors he made no inroads at all. So instead of being able to ask questions he has to resort to the second information in the staff room or from gossip in the hallway. It took him long but eventually, he figured out the connection, the flowers in fact aided in new potions that replaced Polyjuice were the whispers. Of course, fucking granger would be off inventing new potions and teaching. He wondered why she’d need ads for her lab when it was very clearly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And opportunity he was finding himself jealous at missing out, but if his plan was to give her gifts to even the score, he never intended for them to be used this way, but what better way for her to use them? He resolved to center his gifts around rare things that would be of service in her labs and worked hard to listen in on her objectives and goals with the research. While he was abroad he learned all about muggle university ways and was rather impressed by what they were able to accomplish without magic, he can only imagine what Hermione with do with her brain and her muggle knowledge combined with her powers. As he sat thoughtfully between classes he knew exactly what he would gift her next.
