Carved in the Stars (and the Astronomy Table)
Summary
the astronomy classroom, room 336, was one of the largest rooms on campus for some unknown reason. way too many tables and way too many comfy beanbag chairs. in the back corner of the room was a usually untouched table. no one usually sat there and never looked back there. until james potter laid claim to it in the morning class and regulus black laid claim to it in the afternoon class. all it takes are small occurrences and peoples lives change forever.“hiii !!!” was written carefully into the table, although slightly messy.“hello” was written in perfect cursive into the table.some people think these occurrences are fate or just coincidences. the thought that people’s paths are paved and predetermined. soulmates already plucked from the bushes of roses. the theories are endless, although, most people can agree… that most things happen for a reason. even abandoned, back of the room, astronomy class table penpals.-OBVIOUSLY I DONT AGREE WITH OR SUPPORT JK ROWLING !!!

Chapter 3

      JAMES POTTER

james and sirius left their apartment, helmets in hand, and said a quick goodbye to their friend moony. sirius was already on his motorcycle, a soft smile on his face as he tugged on his helmet. james followed suit, grinning widely at his friend.

"c'mon proooongs... we're going to be late....!!" sirius was whining, as if the lateness was all james' fault. james shoved him softly as he spoke, "we're already late, lets stop by minnie's. im hungry and would love a coffee."

sirius chuckled softly as he sped off to their favorite little near campus cafe. slipping into the parking lot and leaning the bike, james hopped off the bike. he skipped inside grinning brightly as he leaned onto the counter, taking in the familiar space with a comfortable sigh. james laughed softly as he spoke quietly in respect to the others studying around the cafe, "gorgeous as ever minnie, could i get pads and i's usual?"

the older woman smiled softly as she prepared their drinks and added in their favorite muffins and croissants, "you both are late, you know, don't think i didn't notice."

james sheepishly smiled and looked around the room for a quick subject change, his eyes snagging on the newest artwork on the bulletin board, "new art in? by regulus again, i assume? how's he doing?"

"fine. got those in over the weekend from the young man. he has such a talent for it." james hummed in response as he grabbed their drinks and food, waving goodbye. james skipped back to the motorcycle and secured the food and drinks as sirius raced to campus.

"beat the professor, huh?" james grinned and slid into their usual spot with a grin and tucked into his food and overly sweet coffee, or so sirius says. james hummed softly, tastebuds melting around minnie's homemade chocolate chip muffins. he pulled out his favorite pencil and the notebook he used for notes and mostly poorly drawn doodles of random things. suddenly, as he put down his notebook, his eyes snagged on the neat, gorgeous cursive softly drawn upon the table - a simple hello. he gasped loudly. "pads, pads, pads..."

"what was that gasp, lemme see!!" sirius grinned as he leaned over james. "prongs! the nonexistent table pen pal is real! you lucky bitch!"

james grinned softly as he took a picture of the handwriting and saved it to an album in his phone: astronomy penpal. "im nervous. pads, how do i respond? do i ask them how their day is or why astronomy or a random question??"

"prongs. james. chill out, this person is random, you don't know them, a stranger does not have to like you." sirius words earned a groan from james who scribbled softly on the table many, many, many, many times before deciding on what he wanted to ask. james wrote and erased on the table for at least a third of the class.

> DESK PEN PAL!!! :D   i thought no one would write me back, good to proven wrong, how are you doing mysterious astronomy pen pal? (nickname in process >:D) also we should ask each other random questions, you go first obviously! hope you have a good day.
