Remus and Tonks stepped out of the apparition point just outside the Burrow. The air was filled with the scent of wildflowers and the distant sounds of laughter and music, signaling the joyous celebration within. They were here for Bill and Fleur's wedding, and excitement radiated from the red-bricked house adorned with magical lanterns and floral arrangements.
As they approached the entrance, the unmistakable laughter of the Weasley twins reached their ears. Fred and George were busy entertaining the guests with their patented pranks and jokes. The pair grinned at each other, knowing they were in for a lively evening.
Inside the big tent, guests were gathered in groups, chatting and celebrating. Remus, with his salt-and-pepper hair and tired yet kind eyes, and Tonks, her bubblegum pink hair reflecting her colorful personality, made quite the striking couple. They moved through the crowd, exchanging greetings and warm smiles.
They found themselves in the midst of the Weasley clan, who were busy making last-minute preparations and ensuring everything was in order. Mrs. Weasley, bustling around in a green dress, caught sight of Remus and Tonks.
"Remus! Tonks! So glad you could make it!" she exclaimed, enveloping them in a warm hug. "It's been too long since we've had a wedding in the family."
Bill, appeared from the crowd, his long red hair tied back in a loose ponytail, and greeted Remus and Tonks with a firm handshake. "Glad you could make it. It means a lot to have you here," he said, his eyes reflecting gratitude.
The ceremony was held in the garden, a beautiful setting with flowers in full bloom and a magical canopy overhead. As Bill exchanged vows with his bride, Fleur, the love in the air was palpable. Remus and Tonks stood side by side, holding hands and sharing a tender moment, grateful to witness the union of two people in love.
As the night progressed, Remus and Tonks stole a quiet moment on the outskirts of the garden. The moon shone brightly overhead, casting a gentle glow on the couple.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Tonks whispered, gazing up at the night sky.
"Absolutely," Remus replied, squeezing her hand. "
Tonks leaned in, her eyes sparkling. "I'm so glad we could be here, sharing in their joy."
"Me too," Remus said, his gaze filled with affection. "Love is a powerful force, Tonks. It's worth celebrating whenever we can." He looked away to observe the couple who were going to begin their first dance as newlyweds. "And speaking of weddings..." Lupin did not finish speaking when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"I don't want to interrupt you," Arthur said apologetically. "But Kingsley should have arrived by now and he was going to make sure the wards were working perfectly... "
"Don't worry. I'll check it out right away," Remus answered. Arthur patted him on the back before walking away. “Why don't you come back inside while I make sure everything is in order?”
Tonks was going to make a comment about how she had also helped with the wards when she caught Charlie's eye who began to motion for her to come closer.
"Come on, go with him," her husband encouraged her. "I'm sure he'll want to talk to you."
"Fine" Tonks kissed him on the cheek and entered the tent.
Minutes later Remus walked outside the tent. The protections were in perfect condition so he decided to return to his wife. He stopped at the entrance of the tent and saw her chatting animatedly with Charlie so he thought about going to talk to someone else.
As the music played and guests twirled around them, Remus took a deep breath and turned to Harry Potter, who was chatting animatedly with Ron and Hermione.
"Harry," Remus called, catching the young wizard's attention.
Harry excused himself from his conversation and approached Remus with a warm smile. "Remus, Having a good time?"
Remus nodded, his expression serious yet filled with a certain determination. "Yes, Harry. We are. And actually, there's something important I'd like to discuss with you.
Remus took a breath before looking back to Harry. "Harry, you've been like family to us. You've faced more challenges than anyone your age should, and you've always shown bravery and loyalty beyond your years."
Harry looked both touched and curious. "What's this about, Remus?"
"Tonks is pregnant."
Harry's eyes widened with surprise, and then a wide grin spread across his face. "That's brilliant news! Congratulations!"
"Thank you, Harry," Remus said . "And there's something else. We were hoping you'd consider being the baby's godfather."
Harry's grin grew even wider, and he looked genuinely honored. "Me? Are you sure?"
Remus nodded. "Absolutely. We can't think of anyone we'd trust more. You've been a constant in our lives, and we want you to be a part of our child's life as well."
Harry's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded. "I'd be honored, Remus. Really, truly honored."
Remus clapped a hand on Harry's shoulder, a mixture of gratitude and joy in his eyes. "Thank you, Harry. Your presence in our child's life will mean the world to us."
"So, why do you look so happy" Tonks asked, when her husband got where she was.
Remus smiled "I just told Harry about the baby,” he noticed that Tonks expression changed "Are you upset that I didn’t wait for you to tell them together?"
"No, of course not Remus, but we need to talk to Molly about it," I love that boy. But he’s going to tell Hermione and Ron, and he will tell Molly" Tonks said " And she won’t be happy if she finds out because someone else told her."
Remus, looking both amused and apprehensive, nodded. "I know, Tonks. It's just… it's a big step. And at her son’s wedding?"
Tonks grinned. "What better time? We're here to celebrate love, after all."
As they approached Mrs. Weasley, who was overseeing the dessert table with a practiced eye, they exchanged a glance. Molly turned to them, a warm smile on her face.
"Remus, Tonks, enjoying the wedding?" she asked, wiping her hands on her dress.
Remus nodded. "It's a beautiful celebration, Molly. And speaking of celebrations…" He exchanged a glance with Tonks, who took a deep breath.
"We have some news," Tonks blurted out, her excitement bubbling over.
Mrs. Weasley's eyes widened, and she glanced between the two of them. "News? What is it, dear?"
Remus took Tonks's hand, a reassuring smile on his face. "We're expecting a baby."
Molly gasped, her eyes filling with tears of joy. "Oh, Remus, Tonks, that's wonderful news! A baby! I'm going to be a grandmother again!"
Tonks beamed, her excitement contagious. "We wanted you to be one of the first to know. You're like family to us, and this seemed like the perfect moment."
Molly enveloped them both in a tight hug, her joy evident. "I couldn't be happier for you two. A baby is a blessing, and you'll make wonderful parents."
Remus, his eyes soft, nodded. "Thank you, Molly. Your support means the world to us."
"Tonight is about love and family," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "And your news makes this celebration even more special. I can't wait to meet the little one."
As mother of the groom Molly got busy pretty quickly after that so Remus and Tonks decided to go back to their table.
"Are you enjoying the celebration?"
Remus chuckled. "It's quite a celebration. The Weasleys certainly know how to throw a wedding."
Tonks nudged him playfully. "Come on,. You're having a good time, aren't you?"
"I really do, but…
"What? " her husband looked at her doubtful " You know you can tell me anything"
"I know" Remus took her hand in his "This is the kind of wedding you deserved and I couldn’t give you"
"Sweetheart, this could have been the biggest wedding celebration ever and still love our wedding more"
"Dora…"
"And don’t say another word about that or I’ll have to…"she took out her wand.
Remus nodded, his gaze softening. "You're right, Tonks.
"I always am. And now we need to talk about something else.
As they continued to chat, the conversation flowed effortlessly between them. They talked about everything and nothing, about the magical decorations, the delicious food, and the amusing antics of the Weasley twins. The night air was filled with the warmth of friendship and the shared happiness of the occasion.
Remus, after a while of chatting with her offered Tonks a hand with a gentle smile. "Care for a dance, my dear?"
Tonks, grinned and accepted his hand. "Always."
They moved onto the dance floor, joining the swirling sea of wizards and witches. The enchanted music filled the air, setting the perfect rhythm for the celebration. As they began to sway to the magical tunes, Remus and Tonks fell into a comfortable dance.
Remus led with a quiet grace, his warm eyes locked onto Tonks's. Tonks, in turn, followed his lead with a blend of elegance and exuberance that was uniquely hers. The love and connection between them were evident in every step, a silent language that spoke of understanding and acceptance.
The enchanting melodies changed, and the tempo picked up. Tonks, unable to resist the infectious energy, twirled and spun, her laughter blending with the music. Remus chuckled, his reserved demeanor momentarily forgotten in the magic of the moment.
As they danced, the world around them seemed to fade, leaving only the two of them in a bubble of happiness. The twinkling lights overhead created a starlit canopy, casting a soft glow on their faces. Remus couldn't help but marvel at the vibrant woman in his arms, while Tonks felt a deep sense of contentment being wrapped in the embrace of the man she loved.
They moved in perfect harmony, lost in the joy of the celebration and the simple pleasure of each other's company. The dance floor became a stage for their love story, a testament to the bond that had weathered challenges and grown stronger over time.
As the music reached its crescendo, Remus and Tonks shared a final twirl, their laughter filling the air. The applause of the surrounding guests brought them back to the present, and they exchanged a tender look before joining the cheers of their friends.
The night continued with more dancing and laughter. Remus and Tonks, hand in hand, moved through the festivities, grateful for the love that surrounded them and the enchanting moments that marked Bill and Fleur's joyous celebration.
