Chapter 5
5.
"Can anyone tell me the name of this?" Professor Sprout asked as she held up an odd looking plant.
"Yes, Mr Pettigrew?"
"Aloe Vera?"
"I'm afraid not Peter, it's Gillyweed."
Pete sighed and tried to hide his embarrassment, rounding his shoulders when he heard the snickers coming from the other side of the crowd of students standing in the greenhouse.
"That was such a dumb mistake to make." Someone snickered.
Remus really had to try not to roll his eyes this time, why did people think it was okay to talk bad about his friends?
The lesson ended a few minutes later and the class was dismissed. The students streamed out of the greenhouse, all talking amongst themselves.
Remus walked alongside his friends, only half listening to their conversation, focusing mainly on a couple of students in front of them talking about their homework that was due in soon and how they needed a specific book otherwise they wouldn't pass.
Stifling the smile that was threatening to show on his face, he turned to his friends and made a quick excuse to go to the library.
"Sorry guys, I just remembered I needed a book for an essay due soon- meet you back at the common room?"
"Yeah sure, see you Moony." Sirius answered as the others gave him thumbs up.
He walked to the library as fast as he could without looking suspicious, which was actually surprisingly hard.
Remus opened the doors and nodded to Madam Pince who was sat behind the desk.
Approaching the section he knew the book would be in he scanned the spines until he found it and slid it off the shelf.
Smiling to himself, Remus walked over to the desk and checked the book out.
"Thanks Madam, have a good day." Remus smiled at her, putting the book in his bag as he left the library and went to find his friends.
A week later, they were in the greenhouse again and Professor Sprout was still talking about the dangers of not knowing plants.
Remus shifted from one foot to another, hoping the lesson would end soon or something would make it interesting.
"Did you find the book you needed for that essay yet?" A familiar voice whispered from somewhere behind him.
"No, I searched everywhere and it's just not in the library. The essay's due next lesson too." Another familiar voice whispered back.
"Oh that sucks, best of luck mate."
The next day Remus returned the book to the library.
