"Ugh that lesson was so stupid, why do we have to learn about that!" James threw his hands in the air in frustration as they walked to the Great Hall.
"It wasn't too bad you know, I actually found it very interesting." Peter reasoned, trying to defend his favourite subject.
"You only find it interesting because you're good at it, Wormy." Sirius argued back, sticking his tongue out at his friend.
"Hey! That's not fair-"
"Oh look who it is." A nasally voice spoke, making the arguing trio jump.
Remus, who had smelt the boy before they'd even turned the corner, wrinkled his nose and wondered how a voice could sound so greasy.
"Snivellus, what can we do for you?" James smiled nervously, angling for a non confrontational interaction.
Snape scowled, his eyebrows scrunching up, "That's not my name, it's Snape to you."
"Yeah." His equally, if not more, greasy accomplice added as if that made them any more intimidating.
Remus raised his eyebrows as he felt his lips twitch into a smile. His friends, however, were not as successful at containing their amusement.
"What are you laughing at traitor?" Greasy accomplice sneered.
"Oh nothing you should worry your silly little head about." Sirius barely managed to tease, before bursting into laughter again and clutching on James's sleeve.
Remus could only watch as the Slytherins' faces grew redder and redder.
Snape nodded at his greasy haired companion, and the one who'd stood back and watched the whole thing until now, they all drew their wands and pointed them at the laughing boys.
Sighing in disappointment, Remus flicked a hand to create an invisible magical barrier around him and his friends, blocking the curses sent their way.
"Come on guys, I'm getting hungry." He leant down and grabbed James and Sirius by the arms, hoisting them up from off the ground.
Once he'd gathered his friends up again, feeling rather like a shepherd, he pushed them all gently towards the Great Hall. He wasn't lying, he really was hungry.
Glancing back at the Slytherins, he smirked at their puzzled expressions as they turned their wands in their hands trying to figure out how their spells didn't work.
Deciding to add to his private amusement even more, Remus couldn't help muttering a sticking charm aimed at their shoes.
He smiled to himself and turned back around before anyone noticed, pushing his still laughing friends towards the hall faster.
