The Moon Embraces The Sea
Summary
“Hey, Sea Fairy, do you remember the first time we met?” A melodious, yet such a familiar voice, a voice Sea Fairy has been yearning to hear felt so close, so close to her. A waiting, a waiting and desperate soul, waiting for her lover to embrace her in her arms once more, feel her warming touch on her cool skin again. As the Sea Fairy slowly positioned herself to look at the source of where the voice was coming from, she saw a radiant light above her, just right above her, the Sea Fairy’s eyes gleaming as she looked upon the luminescent figure lying on the moon. The face she had been so longing to see, the beautiful golden skin of the figure that seems to be twinkling just like the moon. Her navy blue and silky hair, just like the incredible night sky with stars sprinkled all over the piece of night sky, like salt sprinkled on a very darkish blue cloth. And her magnificent gown that she always wore in which Sea Fairy admired so much on their first meet. Oh it was her, it was truly her, the beautiful divine being the Sea Fairy has longed to see again. She was here, she was truly here and she presented herself to the Sea Fairy.
Note
Some parts of this fic is purely based on my version of the relationship between this two cookies, like for example one obvious part that I have made changes to is how Moonlight cookie visits Sea fairy after the curse that held her in the dream tower was broken, which was also not really canon, because they still did reunite when the curse was still on them. If there are any clarifications, or corrections of wrong use of grammar, verb etc. or those who are more familiar with the lore or topics I’ve discussed are free to comment on my work!

And her magnificent gown that she always wore in which Sea Fairy admired so much on their first meet. Oh it was her, it was truly her, the beautiful divine being the Sea Fairy has longed to see again. She was here, she was truly here and she presented herself to the Sea Fairy.

“Moonlight Cookie! Oh moonlight, I missed you so much, why didn’t you appear before me sooner? I was trying to reach out to the moonlight again, where you reign over, but I just can’t, I just can’t…” the Sea Fairy struggled to utter and enunciate her words properly, trying to get out the immense pain she had been experiencing while trying to reach out to her lover. It was alright. She was here isn’t she? Her wishes and desires have been heard and granted by the magnificent moon deity and oh, she could finally see Moonlight again. That was all that matters.

Moonlight seemed to read the Sea Fairy’s thoughts. Intelligent as always, the wonderful moonlight cookie. “Oh Sea Fairy, don’t you fret. I’m here now aren’t I? You can hear and see me and now, if you are really that willing to stay with me forever, now, why don’t you use that incredible ability of controlling the tides of the sea to get to me?”

“Yes, yes, of course I will, moonlight,” the sea fairy has already started tearing up, but oh, at least moonlight was here. The sea fairy, with the help of her manipulation of the tides carried her up to the moon, where moonlight cookie rested on. Moonlight cookie reached out to the desperate sea fairy, who immediately grabbed the hand Moonlight offered to her and climbed onto the golden and shimmering crescent moon where moonlight cookie sat on. Moonlight held her in a tight embrace and Sea fairy sobbed into her shoulders.

“I’m so sorry, Sea fairy cookie. I understand how sorrowful and lonely you must feel after our separation. Your power is weakening over time and we could no longer come into contact through dreams and I could no longer sense your distress. However, I knew exactly how miserable you must feel, but I’m bounded to the tower where I reside too tightly and I could no longer intervene with the real world. I don’t exactly know how we’re finally able to meet, but here we are, right? We’ve managed to bring closure to our long-awaited connection,” the moonlight cookie said, stroking the sea fairy’s long and turquoise-coloured hair.

“Regarding your first question, moonlight, yes of course I remember the first time we’ve met. Now that I thought back about it, it sure does feel weird doesn’t it? It’s like I’ve been struck… by a foreign feeling. Do you feel that too? I’ve been thinking about it for the entire time during our isolation, believing that you remembered me and felt the same feeling.” Sea fairy cookie told Moonlight softly, while staring into her deep purple eyes.

“Yes.. I’ve seen the ‘feeling’ that might be relative to the ‘feelings' we both shared for one another. Have you perhaps heard of the ‘ancient heroes’? There were the two of them and one, he had an immense amount of ‘love’ for the other. I think, if I’m not wrong, the male cookie was a blonde with an ice cream cone for his hat. The female carries a lily stalk as her wand and she has snowy white hair. At first, I didn’t really understand what was the ‘love’ he kept mentioning and bringing up whenever he dreamt of that cookie. However, after seeing and listening to his dreams for so long, I gradually came to realise that the ‘love’ he kept mentioning was the feelings he had for the lily cookie. A feeling of longing, perhaps after separation. I don’t really know the details of what happened between the two cookies but I thought the feeling sort of resonates with me…us,” moonlight cookie reasoned, and she laid her head on the sea fairy’s shoulders.

“Love, huh? Never heard of it or heard of the details before but it sounds positive. It sounds like a sweet thing if anything, but for sure there is a deep meaning behind the word.” The sea fairy whispered in moonlight’s ears and gave her a small smile.

“It must be it… I’ve found that love isn’t just one emotion itself, it interconnects with all other emotions…hurt, anger, sadness, happiness. All these feelings are only born if you truly cared for a person or if you truly loved yourself, you’d only take the time to care for them, which triggers different types of emotions based on the context. I do care…I do love you. I cared about you all the time, throughout my imprisonment. I went through different types of emotions, a whole lot of them…after my first encounter with you. Are our feelings perhaps..mutual?” Moonlight cookie asked, after hesitating for a moment.

Sea Fairy has never heard Moonlight hesitate. Moonlight was always firm when she was saying things, she would think through things thoroughly before saying anything. Maybe it was because they were both experiencing something new and unfamiliar to them. It made them act in a more…abnormal way.

Was Moonlight confessing?

Or was she purely asking how Sea Fairy felt?

The Sea Fairy cookie hoped it was a confession. Truth is, there were too many emotions to describe at that point of their separation. Yes, it was true that she was always overly sensitive, and many emotions would hit her all at once. But this was different. She felt all these emotions, because she wanted to be with Moonlight. She wanted Moonlight to be hers. And she wanted to be Moonight’s. Is that…

“I think I do… yes I…our feelings are mutual,” Sea Fairy said, and gave Moonlight a reassuring smile.

Moonlight returned her smile, but this time, a relieved sigh escaped from her lips.

“You see, these are the feelings people in love feel, so nervous at first, but when they hear a ‘yes’ from their crushes, their fast heart rate slows down into relief. But I’m not just infatuated, I really believe that you are my soulmate,” Moonlight cookie told Sea Fairy truthfully.

Though the Sea Fairy has not said anything about her intensity of love for Moonlight, she felt that her thoughts and love for Moonlight has been narrated out loud from Moonlight herself. Her love stretches to a greater extent… but only if she could tell and phrase it as well as Moonlight did.

“Moonlight…do you want to know how much I love you? For some reason, I can’t put it into words…my thoughts are always spinning out of control and are so lost. Do you perhaps know a way to take a peek into my thoughts or something? Maybe transport us to the dream world where you and I can truly understand how we feel for each other,” Sea Fairy asked Moonlight. Wasn’t it the only way she could communicate and express her love to Moonlight without actually telling her verbally?

“Well then… let’s travel there together!” Moonlight dug around the pocket in her dress, and pulled out a small, bright and shimmering sphere, emitting its golden rays onto Moonlight’s and Sea fairy’s face. Inside of it contained a smaller figure of Moonlight, sleeping on her crescent moon.

“This is a dream sphere. It allows one party to explore the other party’s mind while the other does the same and be able to visualise their thoughts while they’re in a lucid dream state,” Moonlight explained, before giving the sphere a light touch with her finger. The Moonlight figure started radiating more light and spinning faster and faster, until it looked like swirling lights to Sea Fairy. The spiralling Moonlight figure took away more and more of both the Sea Fairy and Moonlight’s consciousness. Sea fairy felt a hand grabbing her very own ones and felt a surge of warmth throughout her whole body. Wow, the Sea fairy has in fact not felt a single touch of warmth for such a long time.

“Let’s go, Sea Fairy, do not fear. Let’s explore our dreams and aspirations together!” Moonlight cookie’s words gave the Sea fairy reassurance, but that didn’t stop the Sea Fairy’s mind from wandering to the dreadful possibility—what if this was a trap created specially for the two lovers to fall into the grasp of evil again? They would lose consciousness after all, and wouldn’t that make them more vulnerable to being attacked?

Unconsciousness and the happiness of being with Moonlight took over her, and the Sea Fairy fell into a state of lucid dream along with a sleeping Moonlight cookie.

As long as the Sea Fairy is with Moonlight cookie, everything shall be okay.
