Chapter 1
I can't believe Cedric is dead. Voldemort killed him and he's back... What's also bad is that a Death Eater has been teaching me DADA for the last year! How could Dumbledore not have known that? He's skilled in Legilimency and he could've used it to find out... What if he had known but he just didn't care? I turned around when I heard an owl hooting. I took the letter from the owl and it left. I opened the letter.
Dear Mr Harry James Potter,
Due to recent events, a failsafe in your Parents' Will regarding your safety has been triggered. We request your presence at Gringotts as soon as possible once the school term has ended. This is of the utmost importance so please get here soon.
Spikeblade.
...What? That was so weird. I guess now I know how Mr Malfoy felt when I told him that he should've seen the sock in the Diary before giving it to Dobby and that he should've gone to Specsavers. The look of confusion on his face had been priceless and so worth having to explain Specsavers to Ron after.
...
I quickly dodged Hermione and the Weasleys and went to the Floo. The Dursleys are going to be really mad they showed up to bring me back and I never showed up but that's a problem for future me. I flooed to The Leaky Cauldron and made my way to Gringotts. Once I got there, I showed a Goblin the letter and he told me to follow him. He led me to an office with a different Goblin behind the desk. "Ah, Mr Potter," the second Goblin said as the first left. "I'm Spikeblade. I'm the Goblin in charge of everything to do with the Potter Vaults and accounts. Thank you for coming so soon."
"What is it?"
"Your Parents left you a letter and a small box," he said before pulling out a sealed letter with the Potter crest in wax sealing it closed and a small blue box. "It was instructed that the box would glow when/if it was ever time to give it to you. It glowed a few minutes before I wrote you that letter. It was about the time that poor Diggory boy died." Voldemort. This must have something to do with him. "We were told only you can see the contents of the box but that it must not leave Gringotts and it cannot be opened until after you read the letter. I'll leave you alone to view the box's contents and read the letter." Spikeblade left. I opened the letter.
Harry,
If you're reading this, three things have happened. The first is Voldemort killed me and James. The second is you survived his attack and he died. The third is he's come back. There are a few things you need to know. Dumbledore cannot be trusted. I'm writing this letter as your Father is duelling with Voldemort downstairs. There is a Prophecy Dumbledore heard and it's the reason we went into hiding. I've left a copy of the Prophecy with this letter. Read it before opening the box. It tells of you and how you will kill Voldemort or he will kill you. Dumbledore made Sirius Secret Keeper but at the last minute changed it to Peter Pettigrew and it hasn't even been a few hours since then and we're getting attacked. Pettigrew is a rat and cannot be trusted either.
I've made sure everyone knows you're to go to Sirius or Remus if anything happens to me and James so if you end up with my Sister, take it as proof not to trust Dumbledore. All he wants is for you to be his child soldier. It was only after James and I said we'd never let you get involved in the war that he changed our Secret Keeper. He must've known Peter was a spy. The only person you can trust is Severus Snape. Sirius and Remus might end up swayed by Dumbledore. Severus loves me. He promised to always keep you safe even if he hates your Father... He and I actually dated when we were younger until I fell for your Father. I had hoped to resolve the tension between James and Severus because I know they also have feelings for each other but I, unfortunately, didn't get the chance.
Severus isn't loyal to Voldemort or Dumbledore. He's loyal to me and you. He will help you if you ask for it. Your Father was a bit of a bully to Severus when we were younger so if Severus acts like he hates you, don't take it personally. Please, don't become like your Father. There is a second piece of parchment with the Prophecy. Keep it in your pockets when you open the box along with the Prophecy and this letter. Give the parchment to Severus when you next see him, please. I love you. Take the opportunity. Change things. Do everything you can to keep yourself safe and don't trust anyone unless they prove they can be trusted. Especially the Weasleys. Don't trust the Weasleys. None of them. Even the children. Molly and Arthur can't be trusted and they would've raised their children the same way.
And don't be friends with Muggles. All they ever did, including our families, was make my and Severus' lives hell. Despite what you may be told, I'm not a Mudblood and I can't stand them. Take a Heritage Test when you next visit Gringotts. You'll find out some interesting things. James, Sirius and I spent a long time pretending to be people we weren't to survive since I saw no point in revealing my Heritage. Be careful who you trust, pay attention to everything (including school) and don't trust Dumbledore.
I love you,
Your Mom. XXX
Well, that was... Unexpected. I read the Prophecy and got really mad at Dumbledore. He's just been manipulating me this entire time. I put all of the parchment into my pocket and opened the box. Inside was a Time Turner but it was slightly different to the one Hermione had in third year. I didn't know what to do with it as the chain wasn't long enough to go around my neck and there wasn't the thing Hermione had used to turn it. There was only a button like the one you'd find on a watch. I pressed the button and everything went black.
...
I woke up to a banging noise. "Up! Get up!" I heard Aunt Petunia's voice as she unlocked the door to my cupboard. "Now!" She slammed on the door again. How did I get here? I was in Gringotts... I feel weird. I put my glasses on and heard Dudley laughing as he jumped on the stairs causing some dust to fall on me.
"Wake up, Cousin! We're going to the zoo!" He yelled as he laughed before running downstairs as I opened my cupboard door. He shoved me back in and slammed my door closed but it didn't shut properly.
"Oh, here he comes, the birthday boy," I heard Aunt Petunia say to Dudley. What? This happened before. The day I first spoke Parseltongue. Dudley's 11th birthday. He sounded like he did then too... What's going on? I haven't been in this cupboard in years. I'd think everything that happened at Hogwarts was a dream but I don't have the imagination to come up with something like that. I left my cupboard to deal with the Dursleys.
...
Over the course of the day, a second set of memories slowly appeared in my head. It seems I'm back as a ten-year-old before I got my Hogwarts letter but I'm not a boy called Harry James Potter anymore. I'm a girl called Violet Lily Potter. Other than being a girl and getting new clothes occasionally, nothing seems different in my new memories to that of my first set of memories except Dudley's never beaten me up only shoved me a lot and my accidental Magic has been different. My hair seems to be like my Mother's just black so Aunt Petunia never tried to shave it off with it growing back in the night. However, it does frequently change colour when I feel intense emotions just like Tonks' hair. Because there was no Harry Hunting I never randomly appeared on the school roof but I can hear people's thoughts. I had the same conversation with the Snake as last time and ended up back in my cupboard.
The box must've given me a second chance at my Hogwarts years but what do I do now? I was told to get a Heritage Test and to not trust Dumbledore or the Weasleys... Oh fuck, Sirius is still in Azkaban with Pettigrew with Ron... That's something I need to fix. If Dumbledore knew about Pettigrew being Secret Keeper, he intentionally let Sirius rot in Azkaban for 12 years. I got really mad at that and I accidentally set my bed on fire before quickly putting it out.
That's another new thing too... Elemental Magic. Hermione went on a rant about Elemental Magic at one point. Voldemort was known for Air Magic, Weather Magic, Ice Magic and Water Magic, Bellatrix was known for Fire Magic, Lava Magic and Earth Magic and Dumbledore was known for Plant Magic, Earth Magic, Lava Magic and Fire Magic. According to her, everyone has at least one type of Basic Elemental Magic they use which is Earth, Fire, Air or Water. Whatever Magic is the one or ones they're more inclined to, they can learn the more advanced version but it's a lot harder and only powerful Magic users can do it. Weather Magic for Air, Plant Magic for Earth, Lava Magic for Fire and Ice Magic for Water. I thought hard about being great at all kinds of Elemental Magic and the knowledge of how to properly use each was immediately in my head. What the hell? I didn't think that would work. I used my newfound ability to make myself a Natural Occlumens since I'd somehow already become a Natural Legilimens and I gave myself a photographic memory and knowledge of all of my subjects at Hogwarts and Wandless Non-Verbal Magic, Non-Verbal Magic, Wandless Magic and Duelling.
...
There was a knock on the door. The Dursleys had left earlier and left me alone since Mrs Figg is still injured. After hiding my letter this time, I managed to respond by using the owl that had delivered it. The person at the door knocked again. I opened the door and was surprised to see Snape there. "Oh... Hi..." Snape stared at me in shock. I decided he'd have a good relationship with me because of what my Mom said in her letter and I remembered the letter she left for Snape. "Professor Snape? I have a letter for you from my Mother." I handed him the letter and he immediately read it before staring at me in even more shock.
"That's... Unusual... You're a time traveller from an alternate universe... Huh... Your Mother wants me to look after you and protect you from Dumbledore so I will," he said with tears in his eyes. To be fair, if I'd just got a letter from a person I was in love with for about a decade who's been dead for about a decade, I'd cry a lot so I get it.
"So, we're going to Diagon Alley now?" I asked him.
"Yes," he said.
"Can I get a Heritage Test?"
"Your Mother mentioned that in her letter," he said.
"And a visit to The Daily Prophet Offices? I need to talk to Rita Skeeter about Sirius Black," I said and Snape's eye twitched.
"Why?"
"He's innocent. Ron Weasley's rat is Peter Pettigrew in illegal Animagus form." His eyes went wide at my words and then he nodded.
"Yes," he said. "That's probably for the best then. But why Rita Skeeter, Violet?"
