The romantic green shrubs surrounding the Hogwarts castle were all intertwined with one another to create something so beautiful that you just wanted to stop and admire it to soak in all its glory. The courtyard was one of the few places you could stop to take it all in. The masterpiece, which students were blessed with, was often overlooked by other various magical creatures and items the school had to offer. It was easy to get lost in the magic and miss the little things that were even more beautiful.

Cassie took this free period to sit in the courtyard right against the fountain to read poetry. Muggle poetry to be more specific. The kind of poetry about a society no pureblood would ever comprehend. Blinded by purity, they'd never get to see the beauty of the world without some sort of betrayal of their family. It was a shame they missed out on the beauty created by the hands of the blind. The people who never got to experience the magic they described with their words in such detail it was accurate. The visionary they captured with a few rhythms, and couplets was beyond impressive to the girl. She had tried to write her poetry and she wasn't nearly as successful as the poet she's read. Perhaps if she two had a muse of her own that she loved in the way it was described she could be just as successful.

The crisp breeze moved in a circular-like pattern as it greeted Cassie before moving on to another territory. Only a few other students were outside doing various things. Gobstones tended to be the most popular choice, yet Cassiandra was never good at it and thus opted out of playing whenever she was asked.

A familiar ginger-haired boy walked in her direction, sending a chill up her spine. An onset of panic bubbled up, erupting like a volcano in her chest. Confrontation disrupting the peaceful poetry she had been sucked into like a vortex was not ideal in the slightest.

"Cassie, we need to talk," the voice spoke up commandingly as he loomed over her. The girl's eyes widened and glossed over as her hands shakily closed her book.

Anxiety rippled through the center of her body outwards and into the world. The kind that was silently holding blindfolds over you and kept you on a leash. In a way, she felt so trapped yet she was out in the open nothing but her own mind holding her back and taking advantage of her.

She blinked at him slowly as if signaling she couldn't be bothered. "I have nothing to say to you that hasn't already been said" she scoffed looking down at her poetry book contemplating whether or not to continue to read it or just walk away from the situation completely.

"Don't act like I don't get a say in this." his reaction only upset Cassie further. She opted to avoid him via her poetry book, hoping he would tire himself out and walk away.

"Why should you get a say it doesn't exactly affect you now, does it?" sarcasm rang through the boy's ears as he listened so intently to each syllable the girl spoke.

"It does affect me, actually. Don't be naive." The hurt in his voice completely glided over Cassie's head as she listened to him speak. Somehow, she managed to stay oblivious in some of the most obvious situations. It wasn't exactly surprising that she missed social ques. It was a skill of hers no one else dared to share.

Where she should have stayed calm Cassie let her annoyance take over as she responded sighing before speaking up "George, why don't you pipe down and stop acting like me and Fred's friendship is anything more or less." Her eyes closed to prevent her from rolling them at the boy in front of her.

"Cassie, it was obviously so much more than that, or you two would still be talking to each other instead of acting like you're going to catch cooties" His eyes rolled, and it set Cassiandra off immediately into a fit of spite and rage.

"Don't act like you know what he said to me. Don't act like you have any sympathy for me when you clearly don't." Tears pricked her eyes, but if they fell, it would be from rage. Never had she been so angry in her entire life.

Sure, the twins had made her plenty countless times, yet they always had known her limits, and when too much was too far. This time, it seemed like the gingers were on the same page with how to hurt her and what words would jab and twist into her heart to cause the most damage. Cassiandra wondered what it would be like to love someone who didn't make her feel like she was just being tolerated.

It was easy to forget that Fred had feelings of his own as well when the only thing going through Cassie's mind was how she was doing or what she was feeling. It's not like his feelings didn't matter to her, they just were never her priority or on her mind. Fred never spoke up against her telling her she forgot about his feelings so in her mind he was doing okay unless spoken otherwise. She could always notice how his hair fell into its perfect place like dominoes but at the end of the day she completely missed his emotional status and mental health.

The heavyweight in her chest that replaced her heart begged her to run away from a situation that clearly wasn't getting any better and was only hurting the girl. Her eyes could see stars floating around her as she felt lightheaded. Without another word, the girl got up and left George standing there shouting after her as she picked up her pace, allowing her feet to carry her to anywhere that would keep her safe. A place where she could push everyone who cared about her away in order to self-sabotage without feeling guilty. Playing victim was easier than owning up to her own actions.
