Cassie had successfully made it through her first day of classes, much to her longing for sleep. It was now Saturday, so she took the opportunity to sleep in, and the moment she woke up, she was back to studying in the common room.
The crackling of the fire and the morning silence were soothing to Cassiandra. She was waiting for Jasper to wake up so she could maybe do something for a bit before going back to studying. She wanted to show the young blonde all there was to Hogwarts.
Flipping through her Herbology notes, Cassiandra had failed to notice Fred sneaking up on her to distract her from her studies. For someone so tall, he could stay quiet and sneak around quite well. Cassie always thought it had to do with all the pranks the boy had managed to pull in and out of school grounds.
"Hi Cas, what are you up to on this fine morning?" Fred asked, startling the girl who dropped her note on the table in front of her.
She gathered them up quickly. "Bloody hell, Freddie, you scared me, I was in the middle of some much-needed studying," she answered before looking up at the boy looming over her.
"All you ever do is study!" Fred exclaimed, pulling the notes away from the girl and waving them high in the sky as the girl got up from the floor trying to reach for them.
"Give them back, Fred," she grumbled as she jumped up, trying to reach for them without success.
He laughed at the girls attempts, "Not a chance, Cas, take a break for once. I know you've been studying all summer! You always do." Fred teased her as she eventually gave up crossing her arms, looking up at him whilst pouting.
"Kiss!" a young voice shouted, down and pushing Cassie into Fred. It just so happened Fred was leaning down while Cassie was looking up, and so with success, the two had kissed for a second before backing away from each other.
"Jasper!" The two exclaimed as the young girl just giggled at them with a cheeky grin. She shrugged her shoulders before running out of the common room to avoid any potential consequences.
The two friends looked at each other before looking away in embarrassment. Fred had never been kissed before. It was better than he could have ever imagined.
Fred was the first to speak up. "So, I'll meet you at midnight tonight?" he asked to which Cassiandra quickly agreed before walking out of the common rook without bidding Fred goodbye.
Wandering the halls, Cassie made her way into the library. There, she found the peace and quiet helpful to clear her mind from what had happened only moments prior. Did it even count? Would it change things? Her mind raced as she begged for it to quiet down so she could relax and read something.
Hours of studying passed within a blink of an eye as Cassiandra made her way to the Great Hall for dinner. The closer she got, the better it smelt, and the teen felt at peace. She could definitely use a warm meal right about now.
Entering the hall, the girl looked at the Gryffindor table and immediately found Jasper and made her way towards her in order to attempt to avoid Fred and the awkward situation for a little bit longer.
"Did you enjoy the kiss?" Jasper immediately asked upon Cassiandra, sitting down, making the older girl roll her eyes.
"No, because he's my friend, and it wasn't even a real kiss anyways," Cassie grumbled as she pilled food onto her plate. Jasper shrugged before eating some of her own foods, which she had piled on prior to Cassie's arrival.
"Who's your friend?" George slid over, asking nosey as ever,
"George Weasley, you might know him," Cassiandra sarcastic response made him burst out laughing.
"Alright, Cassie, no need to be so dramatic," Fred slid over next to George, who gave him a high-five in response.
Cassie scoffed. "Oh, shut it, Fred." she focused her attention back to her food so she would finish before dinner was over.
Fred looked over at Cassie waiting for her attention to refocus back to him. He wanted to make sure the pair was still on for their meet up at Midnight still. When she finally locked eyes with him her smile melted his heart like no other. His heartbeat playing an unfamiliar tune as the girl gave him a questioning look, as if asking what he wanted.
"Are we still on for tonight?" he mouthed to the girl hoping to every being above she would say yes. The girl shook her head yes and Freds smile grew on his face almost immediately.
Within blink of an eye, it was Midnight once more and the pair snuck down from there dorm room beds wearing pajamas. Not a single thought was going through Cassiandra's mind as she sat down on the couch. Fred walked over fidgeting with his fingers and running his hands through his hair.
"Are we going to talk about what happened this morning or are we going to pretend it didn't happen?" Fred asked with a sigh as he sat down next to the girl.
"I just need to be held for a bit." the girls voice broke as she sat there. Fred opened up his arms and wrapped his right arm around her.
Cassie laid her head against his chest and their heartbeats connected as one. Everything Fred had wanted was happening right now, but he couldn't help but wonder how the girl next to him truly felt. Cassie happened to be sitting next to him thinking the exact same thing. How would things change if they never talked about the kiss. Was it even real? Did it even count? Endless thoughts began racing through both teens' minds. Fred rubbed his hand against Cassie's shoulder, and she leans into him more. This night was one that would change their hearts and souls forever.
