James' pool party part 1
Remus was walking with Lily toward his home as Regulus approached them. "You guys aren't going to believe me!" He said as Remus opened the door, confused.
A few moments later, they were sitting in Remus' bedroom opposite the David Bowie poster on Remus' bed. The table under the David Bowie poster stood a glass of water. Regulus moved his writs and hands slowly, such the opposite of Sirius, Remus thought. The opposite water was slowly growing and moving like a snake, going on endlessly.
"It keeps on growing," Regulus said, just as confused as Remus felt. This whole mermaid thing felt so weird. He couldn't swim anymore without being seen with a tail, and he couldn't even shower without turning into a fish. "Where's the extra water coming from?" Lily asked, and that made Remus snap out of his thoughts. "No idea, actually, but we'd have to find out." As Regulus said that, he'd dropped his hand and, with that, the water.
The water came right in front of Remus, and the best he could do was put his hand before his face as a reflex. The water suddenly turned into ice. Remus' eyes were grey and wide. Did he do that? He looked around, and Regulus looked amused, while Lily looked shocked. "Did I just do that?" He's asked as if they hadn't seen the same thing. "It wasn't me," Regulus said. He made eye contact with Lily; she nodded towards him, making him even more shocked.
"But all I did was..." And he moved with his hand again towards the vase with the flower in it, and it froze. Just a simple flat hand could make anything with water turn into ice. This was unbelievable, Remus thought. We're they sure that Sirius' and James weren't playing any pranks? Hell, Regulus could be even in on the part. That would be so embarrassing. However, he couldn't figure out what would be worse. The fact that he'd believed it or the fact that Sirius would be making fun of him.
Hearing the word Sirius made him come back to his thoughts. "You should've seen the look on Sirius' and James' faces," Regulus said, and Lily giggled. "What idiots." She rolled her eyes at that.
After that absurd day, Remus wanted to relax, so he wanted to take a bath. The water was rising, and the foam was getting bigger. Remus stared at it like it was his enemy, which, in a way, it was. The moment he stepped in the water, he could feel the scales coming up his legs, for a split second, he was water.
Lily and Regulus visited his house later that day. While Lily told stories about how she swam with dolphins, Regulus told stories about how he needed to keep this secret from his brother. He was mainly sad because he could never win any trophies for swimming anymore, but the worst part was that they couldn't tell anyone. Not if they wanted to be an exhibition in a museum for the rest of their lives. He did want to tell Sirius, tho. He knew Sirius wouldn't judge, right? But he couldn't do that to Regulus.
The next school day, he walked with Lily to class, but right as they walked over to their locker, Marlene and Mary ran up to them. "Lily, we haven't seen you in ages." The girls almost screamed in excitement without even looking at Remus. They hadn't seen each other in two days, and they made weeks of them, what dramatic Remus thought, but then again, they were the most popular girls in the school.
"Marls, I still can't believe you stole the key to the boat!" Lily said with a serious tone. Marlene just shrugged. "He's like my nephew and an ass, so he got what he deserved." Mary laughed at that. "Speaking of Potter, he's giving a party this afternoon! We should go with the three of us!" Mary said. "You just want to be there because Black is there," Marlene said, and Mary shoved an elbow into her.
Remus put his attention to Lily and said: "I'm going to class." He said shyly, and as he walked away, he could hear Marlene and Mary go oooh.
Right as he walked to his class, Sirius came up beside him. "Hey, are you going to James' party?" He asked at which Remus blushed. "Of course, I'm going." He answered hoping he didn't sound as panicked as his head was. "Great make sure to bring your swim shorts!" Sirius said and walked away. Shit, it was a pool party.
