Pranks, Thoughts, and An Aphrodite Boy
The truth-or-dare gathering was fast-approaching; it was tomorrow now. Gossip and nerves were flying around the camp, with the winter dance inching closer. More people were asking each other, and he had even heard a rumor that Solace had or is going to ask the di Angelo kid to the dance.
Connor made a mental note to, from now on, stop fake-flirting with Will. Even though the mall goth-esque kid was quite tiny, he was powerful and downright /scary/. He wouldn’t be caught dead messing with that kid.
As the day dragged on, Connor kept catching his thoughts drifting to the Aphrodite kid, Mitchell. He had gotten to know him a bit from the several times he’s bumped into him ‘accidentally’ over the last week or so; Connor had taken to calling him Pretty Boy. It did describe Mitchell, after all.
After lunch, he gathers in his cabin to have an oversight of the prank they did; the stunt with the punch. It was quite successful, and no one figured out that it was their cabin, though there were quite a few suspicions. It /was/ fixed quite quickly, though. Maybe they would work on that as a cabin in the future.
The rest of the day drifts by, and then Connor is at the campfire with his cabin mates, when he looks up, searching the Aphrodite cabin crowd for his blue-haired friend (for now..). He finds him in the crowd, catching Mitchell staring at him. Connor feels his cheeks go the tiniest bit red, and he quickly averts his gaze. Gods, why did his heart skip a beat at the sight of him? He didn’t like him, right? …Right?
The rest of the campfire passes by in a blur, much like the day had. The next thing he knew, he was lying awake in the cabin, unable to keep his thoughts from straying to the cute Aphrodite boy.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Connor’s mind drifted into a murky sleep, dreaming of the boy haunting his thoughts.
Yawning, Connor and his cabin begin to rise, nearly late for breakfast. Quickly, sparks of excitement wound through the cabin’s interior, among the children of Hermes. Today was the day of the truth-or-dare gathering, after all. Throwing on some clothes and brushing his messy hair, he walks down to breakfast, sneaking looks at Mitchell when he can. It’s totally normal to do that with a friend, right? …Yeah… right.
At the dining pavilion, Connor wolfs down a bowl of Lucky Charms, and quickly rushes back to the cabin to prepare and set up decorations. There /would not/ be a lame gathering in the Hermes cabin. He also made sure they were stocked up on snacks, and that their.. secret documents.. were all hidden in their spots, and that none were missing.
Making sure all was in order, Connor looks at his wristwatch and realizes several hours had gone by, and that it was almost time for lunch, and after that, the gathering. Making his way to the dining pavilion once more, he ponders who will be showing up for the gathering. Probably at the very least cabin 10, 7, and 17. Probably also Will and Percy, he supposes.
Lunch also passes quickly; Connor had managed to smuggle in some Lunchables for him, his siblings, and one to burn for his father at dinner, and he and Venus mainly enjoyed them the most.
“So, Venus, who do you think is going to show up for truth-or-dare in a little bit? My money’s on Cabin 10 and 5, at the very least. Aphrodite kids are suckers for gossip, and Ares kids wouldn’t want to seem like a wimp. What do you think?” Connor asks Venus, trying to strike up a conversation with his sister over the noise of his siblings and the surrounding tables.
“I’d go out on a limb and say you’re right, even though you usually aren’t.” Venus shoots back, elbowing him playfully and smiling mischievously like only a child of Hermes could, which only gained her a jab in the ribs from Connor in response.
Finally, lunch concludes, demigods rising from their tables to do various activities, and the remaining Hermes campers return to Cabin 11 to play card games while waiting for the people to arrive, the games which included but were not limited to: Slapjack, Texas Hold Em’ (poker), Go Fish, Monopoly, and Uno.
As Connor slaps down a Draw 4 wild card, cheering in victory at his fifth Uno victory in a row, the first campers arrive. Venus and Cecil go to greet the fellow demigods, while the other three campers in cabin 11 go to clean up their card games. As they finish cleaning up, the Hermes cabin pushes the bunks to the back end of the cabin, to provide more room for a big truth-or-dare circle.
As expected, the first cabin to arrive was Cabin 10; Aphrodite. The campers that had arrived were Drew Tanaka, she was kind of a bitch, Piper McLean, Valentina Diaz, Lacy, Mitchell, and a couple other girls he didn’t really know. They chatted and gossiped as they started to form a circle, waiting for everyone else to arrive, Cecil agreeing to go scout for other campers to arrive.
Connor went over to the Aphrodite children, inspecting them, whether they had any gossip that would be useful for pranks, and whether they had anything worth pickpocketing. He passes Drew, slipping a hand into her pocket and drawing out a couple golden drachmas and 20 bucks cash.
Walking to the back of the cabin, Connor slips the cash into the cabin piggy bank, for when they need to order a pizza or things from outside camp for pranks or just for their enjoyment. The drachmas, though, he pocketed. He could use those at camp, for betting pools or armor and whatnot.
The cabin door opens once more, to see several Ares kids flooding in, shortly followed by the Nike twins, again, to no surprise. The Ares kids start boasting and sharpen their weapons, to be used if the need arises, of course.
As the minutes breeze by, more guests arrive, until the Hermes cabin is almost full of people, and then Cecil comes into the cabin with Venus, reporting that there isn’t anyone else on their way. As a final headcount, Connor skims over everyone there. Cabins 10, 5, 17, and a few speckled from Apollo, Athena, Hecate, and others, with Nico and Percy also there.
This ought to be fun, Connor supposed as he sits down in the circle, catching Mitchell’s glance as they prepare to start the game. This was definitely at least going to be interesting.
