Good Gryffindor boy

Note:
we are getting feral energy early.

The slytherin common room was crowded with people as it was the start of term party they threw every year. It was a week after classes had started. I was just starting to feel normal again. Different colored lights flickered about the place and loud music came out from somewhere. I made my way through the crowd towards my friends. Every now and again someone would stop me and talk.

They were sitting next to one of the windows. The light reflected off the water making shapes on their faces.

Madie had her dark brown hair pulled back into a low pony. It looks chic and beautiful in an effortless way. She had on a dark green one shoulder top tucked into a corduroy mini skirt.

Lucian was sitting next to her looking just as elegant. He had on a fitted turtleneck with a jacket placed around his shoulders and his arms were not in it. A pendant around his neck gleamed in the moonlight.

Noah had on a tight white shirt with a blue collared unbuttoned shirt over it. His pants were loose and matched the color of his outer shirt. He was covered in jewelry including earring cuffs that dangled.

They were talking to Theodore Nott and Draco Malfoy. Who were dressed in all black. They were simple outfits but classy.

As I approached I saw my reflection in the window. I fit in perfectly with the group. I had on a black sheer top with stars on it. A lace cami underneath. A black skirt with a slit on the side. It had chains with stars on them connecting the two sides. My long blonde hair was curled loosely. The color is very similar to Draco’s. if I had been placed in slytherin we might have been mistaken for siblings. My make up was a simple black wing with a little bit of silver eyeshadow. Fake lashes are a must with red lipstick.

Draco pulled me into a side hug.

“Well if it isn't our favorite gryffindor.” Theo said. I gave a little bow.

“I’m I, your favorite ravenclaw?” Noah asked, wiggling his eyebrows. He had a bit of blue eyeshadow on. Definitely Maddie’s touch.

“No, definitely my least favorite.” He replied back, taking a drink. The cups were glass.

“Alright, fine then bitch. You've lost drink privileges.” Noah muttered leviosa and theos drinks lifted out of his hand and rested it on one of the ceiling beams. We broke into laughter at theos expression.

“Thanks asshole, you know what I’m leaving it up there.” Theo flipped him off.

“As much as I would love to stay and talk but I’ve gotta go find crabbe and goyle.” Draco said. They stood up.

“Bye Audrey!” Draco said as they left. I waved at them. I sat down in the spot Theo had just occupied.

“That boy had a crush on you!” Maddie gasped.

“He definitely does not! Either way he’s a fourth year” I said back.

“Ok ouch, but I agree with Maddie. He only said goodbye to you. Which hurts as his new best friend.” Noah said. I rolled my eyes so hard I’m pretty sure I saw my brain.

“When are you going up to dj?” I asked Noah as Lucian handed me a drink. Just to get him to stop talking about Draco.

He leaned back in his chair. “After this set. It’s gonna be epic.”

“It better be or I want my money back.” I said before taking a drink. Maddie rolled her eyes.

“Are you guys down to going to hogsmeade tomorrow? I gotta pick up some things.” Maddie said.

“Can’t, got detention tomorrow.” I replied, tapping my glass with my ring.

“Oh I forgot about that Sunday then.” She replied.

“Well before you're in hell tomorrow we can dance tonight.” Lucian said, grabbing both Maddie and my hands.

My drink refilled itself as I downed it. The dj booth was where the fountain normally was at either side sat the stairs. It was on a floating platform. It really made it feel like a club here. Noah jumped over the back of the stairs landing perfectly taking his place as our dj. He didn’t lie, it was epic. We danced and drank for hours.

I made my way back to the common room quite easily. Peeves directed me there. Almost everyone hated the poltergeist but I had made an ally of him. I helped him get up to mischief. My mom has worked at honeydukes for as long as I could remember. So I actually met Peeves when I followed a passage from the shop to the castle. I was seven. I never got in trouble for sneaking out because we never got caught. The fat lady was sleeping but peeves opened the door for me. I stumbled inside and waved peeves away. He gave me a shove before laughing and flying away.

I fell and flipped him off but he was already gone. I got to my feet and made my way through the common room. From the looks of it they had also thrown a party. I had never been to a gryffindor party, I imagine it would feel like a house party vs the slytherin parties felt like being at a club. People were passed out on every surface. I made my way through them trying not to fall. I finally made it to the stairs when someone moved in front of me blocking my path.

“Well now look who it is.” I grabbed the railing for support as I looked into the face of a Weasley. His hair was a mess like he or someone had run their hands through it a couple of times. Some of it fell into his face.

“You know it’s against the rules to be out of the dorm this late.” He leaned towards me, his lips curled at the corner.

“Rich coming from someone who is always out past curfew.” I spat back.

“How was the slytherin party? I can’t imagine it was very fun. Do you guys just sit around and discuss evil plans?” The smirk was still on his face. I wanted to slap it off.

“I guess you’ll never know seeing as you’ll never be invited.”

“Nah! Don’t really think I’m missing much. Nothing is better than a gryffindor party. You would know this if you weren’t a traitor.” I hated how they all used that word for me. As if I was the most vile, disgusting creature because I hung out with anyone but them.

“Oh yeah? And you want to show me everything gryffindor has to offer.” I put my hand on his chest and walked him back a few steps until his back was against the railing. I blinked up at him.

“Want to show me a good time like a good Gryffindor boy?” He was staring down at me with his lips parted. There was a little scar on his chin. I trailed my hand down his chest. His breathing hitched. I felt the hard muscles under his shirt. My hand stopped at his waist band. For once he seemed speechless. His blue eyes darkened and flickered to my lips.

“Well it’s a shame that you're an asshole then.” I whispered into his ear before pushing away from him and strutting up stairs.

I was up early despite the late night. Detention was to be spent sorting potion ingredients for Snape. I entered snapes classroom early. I was there before the professor himself. I sat on a desk waiting for everyone else. Snape swept into the room next, surprised to see me there before him.

“Miss Cromwell, welcome.”

“Good morning professor.”

“As soon as the Weasleys get here we can start.” He stood at the front of the room robes flowing behind him as he turned towards me.

“Well, take a seat professor and get comfortable.” I said. He almost smiled before taking a seat at his desk.

It was about 20 minutes before they showed up. Snape had busied himself with writing something. I just sat there kicking my legs and counting things around the room. I even counted the stripes on my plaid pants. After they entered the room Snape hit them with “your late.” In his signature monotone voice. He stood up and pulled out his wand. Without saying anything the furniture started moving. The table I was sitting on dumped me on the floor before moving away. I scrambled to my feet glaring at Snape. There was now a long table in the middle of the classroom filled with different jars of slugs.

The twins pressed themselves to the wall while the furniture flew around the room. One of them stared across the room at me. That must have been the one from last night. They both were in classic looks for the school matching to what I was wearing. white button down and plaid pants. My shirt was tucked in where theirs were not. They both looked like that just rolled out of bed including messy hair.

“You’ll need to sort through these jars, getting rid of any bad slugs and keeping the good ones. There are also different species that will need to be kept separate from each other. There are three species here to be exact. Some have mixed in the jars and separate them accordingly. I won’t tell you what the bad one looks like, you'll have to research that on your own.” A few fat textbooks appeared on the table. “I have jinxed the room to let me know if any of you leave the room. There is a bathroom through that door. Now I have other things to take care of. I’ll be back in a couple of hours.” With that he swept out of the room.

I looked at the table having no idea where to even start. I picked up one of the text books and looked inside. It was a slug index. Hundreds of slugs and their properties. I started combing through the book.

“Ugh, this is going to take forever.” I looked up to see one put his head into his hands.

“Calm down, George.” The other one, Fred, patted his back. I realized the one who I talked with last night was Fred. His voice was slightly deeper than his brother. I pulled my hair into a ponytail the ends still curled slightly. Then I rolled my sleeves up.

“Well we only need to identify one species because I know two. This one.” I pointed to a reddish brown one. “Is a common European red slug they also can appear in black.” I tapped another jar.
“These are flesh eating slugs highly invasive. Despite the name they are harmless to humans unless ingested.” They were green and ugly looking little things.

“How do you know that?” George asked his voice sounded skeptical. I let out a loud sigh.

“Why would I lie to you? I would like to finish this as soon as possible.”

He scoffed. I gritted my teeth.

“Look dickhead believe it or not I’m not out to get you. if Snape comes back and this isn’t done we won’t leave here without sorting the whole fucking storage room. I for one would like to not do that.” I continued to look through the book trying to identify the last slug. He shot me an angry look before turning to his book.

We worked in silence for a while, the only sounds were the flipping of pages and the clock ticking. Until Fred cried out. “Found it!”

“Jesus Christ, Fred nearly gave me a heart attack.” George replied back.

“It’s a limax Maximus. Now we just need to figure out how to tell which ones are bad.”

“What does the book say about those ones?” I said.

I walked around the table and leaned over his shoulder to see the book. He tensed for a second but it didn’t leave my radar. We all read down the page looking at the markers of bad slugs. Once I was sure they were done reading the page I placed the book I was reading on top.

“Here is the entry on flesh eating slugs.” I ran my finger light across the page. Fred had looked over his shoulder at me as I drew my hand back. I locked eyes with him for a second. Confusion swimming in his eyes. I broke the eye contact and moved around the table then across the room to the store room. I heard George’s voice as I entered the room but I felt Fred’s eyes on my back.

“What type of slugs do you think Ron vomited that one time?”

“I don’t really care.” Fred responded back.

What was happening to me I hated them. George makes me what to rip my hair out but Fred… well he also makes me want to rip my hair out just for slightly different reasons. Get it together. I found some gloves and made my way back to the table. I put them on before flipping through a book directly to the last species spot and read their section. Before starting to separate the slugs into jars.
“Where did you get those gloves?” Fred said. Without looking at him. I pointed with my thumb behind me.

“The storage room.”

We worked in mostly silence the rest of the time. They would make comments at each other every now and again. It wasn't as bad as I feared, not bad at all really.

Snape came back and dismissed us quickly. I’m pretty sure he was surprised to see us finished but he didn’t show it. Then again Snape never showed any emotion. I walked absentmindedly back to the common room. I didn’t notice someone fall into step with me until he spoke.

“Why were you being so nice today?” Fred asked. I gave him a sideways glance.

“I'm not a bitch twenty four seven. I do have other personalities.”

“You could have fooled me.” He said. I tried to speed up but his long legs kept up easily.

“It’s not like you or anyone else has really given me a chance.” At that his eyes shot to mine. His freckles were stark against his pale skin.

“I don’t think you ever wanted to give us a chance. You’ve always acted like being a gryffindor is a curse.” I stopped dead in the hallway, my mouth slightly open.

“In fact, you never talk to anyone. always acting like your better than us. In all the six years we’ve been here I don’t think I’ve ever seen you even sit in the common room. So don’t even give me the we don't ‘accept’ you bullshit.” He stood up straight and started walking away. He got a few paces away before he stopped and turned towards me.
“Oh and if you ever require that good gryffindor boy, just let me know.” His eyes had darkened before he turned and sauntered away.

I gripped the wall to steady myself. As much as it hurt he was right. I think in all the anger for not being in one of my parents houses I formed this hatred of gryffindor then projected their hate on me. I think by now most of them really do hate me. I really do only show them one side of me. It still didn’t matter. I have never once called them traitors or anything like that. I have never whispered behind their backs while they can still hear. Yet they had, I can’t just forgive them for that.

I marched into the common room then through it. Fred and George were sitting on one of the many couches. George was talking with the golden trio. Fred had been watching the door. I didn’t even acknowledge that he was there. But I could see his smirk out of my peripheral vision. I went straight to my room.

God how could I let him get to me like that. I needed to talk to Maddie. I took a quick shower before heading out. It was about three o’clock so she was probably in her room chilling before dinner. I didn’t even look around the common room before racing out of it. I ran all the way to the slytherin common room. I was almost too out of breath to even say the password. I have been out of this room more times than I could count. It hit me that I knew this room better than my own common room and I couldn’t get Fred’s words out of my head. I burst into her room even more out of breath than before. She nearly fell out of her desk chair. Luckily she was the only one in the room.

“Audrey what the fuck?” I sat down on her bed while holding my hand up trying to catch my breath. As soon as I could I told her everything Fred has done and said to me in the last couple of days.

She had her hand under chin listening to me intently.

“Two things, that’s kinda hot not gonna lie. And second he done got you. You got got bitch.” I sighed.

“Yeah I know. He’s so frustrating. I want to punch him everytime he does that little smirk.” I threw myself backwards so I was laying on her bed.

“It sounds like he likes you.” She said, I shot up and looked at her. “What.”

“In the same way you like him. In the, oh shit she's hot but I hate her but now there’s this weird sexual energy kind of way.” She pointed at me.

“There is definitely no sexual tension.” I replied back.

“Yeah ok,” she snorted. “Good Gryffindor boy, says a different story. It’s so sexual tension coded.”

I flopped back onto the bed this time face first.
“Personally I don’t think there is anything hotter than the we hate each other but want to fuck vibe.” She said.

“Shut up.” I replied. She just laughed.

We walked into the great hall a few hours later. I was feeling much better. I sat with her like usual. Lucian and Noah joined us shortly after. Diner went normally until Maddie whispered a comment to me.
“A certain good Gryffindor boy keeps looking at you.” I tensed up then sighed.

“You're never going to let me live that down are you?” I looked at her. She giggled and shook her head.

“Nope.”

I made a face then stole a quick glance to the gryffindor table. The red of the table stood out like using lumos in complete darkness. Even more so was the red headed group in the middle. I caught sight of him easily. He wasn’t looking at me so I let myself look at him. He was laughing at something Lee Jordan said. He was even more handsome when he laughed. He smiled with his whole face, lips pulled back exposing his white teeth. His eyes crinkled, they were shut as well. He had his hand on Lee's shoulder. He then looked up at me. He smirked again. He lifted his hand and gave me a little finger wiggle as a wave. It was low enough that no one else would have noticed. I narrowed my eyes and flipped him off. He started laughing again.

Maddie hit my shoulder a bunch of times.
“See, that’s what I was talking about.”

“Ow! Stop it.” I pushed her hands back.

“What are you two talking about?” Lucian said. Him and Noah were looking at us.

“Nothing.” We both said at the same time before laughing.

“Whatever, I’m ready to go should we leave?” Noah said. We all got up and started making our way to the exit.

We branched off Lucian and Maddie headed to the dungeons. Noah walked with me until he had to deviate to the ravenclaw common room. I walked slowly letting my hand trail on every railing until I got to the fat lady's portrait. I said the password before stepping through. I ran my hand over the back of one of the couches. It was softer than it appears. I lifted my hand up and headed upstairs.
