Summary
This is a fic about the marauders and co as equestrians on summercamp together, with multiple POV's.
Note
This is the first fic I have ever written. I didn't give it a second read to check either, so please don't come for me if there are any grammatical errors. That leads me to my next point.. English is NOT my first language, now I know what we're all thinking.. I am for real. Don't expect too much. I'm writing this because I'm bored and I have not really thought this through, so this is probably going to be a mess. Sorry 'bout that. I do not know how this god forsaken website works either. Again. Sorry 'bout that. Don't come for me me if I do something wrong. My chapters are probably going to be rather short because I have school and I am just a lazy fuck, to be honest. Aight, that was my little rant. Have fun reading this shite. Xx

First impressions and lasting connections

As Lily pushed open the creaking door to the camp's rustic kitchen, as directed by the counselor that welcomed her here Alexi, her eyes immediately landed on a blonde boy sitting at the table. He was about her age, with an air of nervousness surrounding him, yet there was an undeniable friendliness in his demeanor. He cradled a cup of steaming tea, his hands slightly trembling.

Before she could take in more of the scene, a handsome figure stepped into her field of vision with a warm, welcoming smile. "Hello, ladies!" he greeted. His voice was cheerful, resonating with the kind of warmth that reminded Lily of lazy summer afternoons. This was a very stark contrast to the often cold and judgmental people of competitive equestrian world she was used to before she switched disciplines. He didn't have the air of entitled nepotism or the snobbish superiority she'd encountered way too many times. Instead, there was an inviting openness about him.

"C'mon, Lils, you're blocking me," Mary's voice, laced with a bit of playful snark, pulled Lily from her reverie. "Oh, I'm sorry, darling," Lily replied, stepping aside with a smile of her own.

"I'm James Potter, the main counselor for this camp," the cheerful guy, whose name was apperantly James, introduced himself. His eyes sparkled with genuine interest. "I take it Alexi has already sorted out your paperwork?"

"Yes, she has," Lily answered as she accepted the firm but friendly handshake he offered. "It's lovely to meet you, James. I'm Lily Evans."

While Mary engaged James in conversation, Lily's attention drifted to the boy at the table. His nervousness seemed to spike under their gaze, and he awkwardly burned his mouth on his tea in an attempt to appear casual.

"Oh, yeah," James interjected, his voice lifting as he poured more tea into quaint, mismatched cups. "This is Peter, another camper."

"Hi," Peter managed, his voice betraying his nervousness. He attempted to disguise it by taking a sip of tea, only to wince as the hot liquid scalded his mouth. After a brief, awkward and silence, he looked up. "Uh, did you guys have a good journey?" His question, though simple, seemed laden with the desperate effort of social interaction.

"We certainly had our share of adventures getting here," Lily confessed, her smile tinged with the memory of their journey's many mishaps.

Mary, ever the lively one, jumped in with a rather dramatic flair. "You wouldn't believe it, James! The public transport was an absolute disaster. It's like they're experts in turning simple trips into elaborate puzzles!"

As James laid out a plate of freshly baked biscuits, he couldn't help but comment with a teasing grin, "Well, I guess it's a bit of a trek to get here, but I'd hoped the city transport would be more reliable. I mean, city folks are supposed to be the wizards of logistics, aren't they? Or is it just all talk and no action?"

Lily laughed, appreciating the humor. "It was definitely a test of our patience, but hey,at least we're finally here," she said, reaching for a biscuit.

"Speaking of here, where's Alexi?" James suddenly looked around, his curiosity piqued. "She's not out back having a quick and sneaky little cigarette, is she?"

Lily exchanged a glance with Mary, who responded with a knowing smirk, "She mentioned something about checking on the chickens, but who knows? It might be a cover for a cigarette."

James raised an eyebrow, then leaned out the window, calling, "Lex! You better not be hiding to smoke behind the chicken coop again!" Getting no response, he turned back to the group, his tone turning more serious. "Just to be clear, we have a strict no-smoking policy here at the camp. That applies to everyone, Alexi included. I'll have a talk with her later, she should be setting an example for any smoker that might join us here."

Mary nodded in agreement, her smile still in place. "No worries here. Lily and I aren't fans of smoking. We'd rather not get cancer at the age of fifty. Right, Lily?" She received a confirming nod from Lily, who was already feeling more at ease in this new, laid-back environment.

Lily was just beginning to feel the warmth of the kitchen when Alexi's voice floated in from behind the chicken coop, tinged with a hint of humor. "Hey, James! Are we expecting any high-and-mighty types this year?"

Lily's curiosity piqued, and she asked, "Does she have a thing against the posh crowd?"

James let out a hearty laugh, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Alexi's a bit of a paradox when it comes to the upper crust. She claims to disdain them, but I think she enjoys the challenge they bring." Standing up, he sauntered over to the window, leaning out to continue the conversation with Alexi. "I'm not sure, Lex. It's not like I conduct in-depth social screenings. What's up?"

Meanwhile, Mary, always quick to notice the details, nudged Lily and gestured subtly towards the window. "Check out that car. If that doesn't scream 'posh', I don't know what does." She whispered, a playful smirk on her face.

Lily glanced through the window and saw the sleek, black vehicle. She hummed in agreement, her eyes reflecting a mix of intrigue and amusement.

Alexi suddenly appeared, vaulting effortlessly through the window with a theatrical flair, landing in the kitchen with a determined thud. "I'm drawing the line at playing host to those snobs," she declared, her tone laced with a mix of jest and seriousness, directed at James.

James, unfazed, chuckled lightly. "Come off it, Lex. One bad experience with a highbrow doesn't mean they're all rotten. Remember, you're a counselor now - diplomacy is part of the job."

Rolling her eyes in mock exasperation, Alexi opened a cupboard nonchalantly, her movements smooth and practiced. Meanwhile, James, carrying a sense of responsibility, headed for the door to welcome the new arrivals. "And keep your hands off the booze, Lex. Give these ones a chance."

Alexi withdrew her hand from the cupboard, a slight smirk playing on her lips as she sat beside Peter. She studied Mary and Lily with a newfound interest. "You two aren't from the stuck-up brigade, right? Because I'm actually liking you lot." Her gaze landed on Mary first. "Your skin's fantastic, by the way. You must share your secrets with me," she said, a hint of genuine admiration in her voice. Then, turning to Lily, she added, "And wow, you're stunning too. There's something about your aura that's just... captivating." Her words were straightforward, yet there was an unmistakable warmth in her tone.

Mary's face lit up with a radiant smile. "I'd love to learn your eyeliner trick, Alexi! It's absolutely stunning." Alexi returned the compliment with a lopsided grin, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Sure thing. I can teach you all - even you, Pete." Peter's head shook so vigorously at the suggestion, it sent them all into a fit of laughter. "No, I think I'll pass," he replied, the edges of his words softened with a hint of amusement.

Just then, Alexi's attention was drawn outside. "Check out Mr. Perfect over there," she exclaimed, quickly covering her mouth as if she couldn't believe her own words. "Or should we say Ken? You know, the blonde, glossy type?" Her expression was one of mild repulsion as she eyed a young man stepping out of the car. His appearance was polished, yet the piercings on his face gave him an unexpected edge. Despite this, Alexi's gaze remained skeptical.

Lily, catching the interaction, couldn't help but tease. "You know, Alexi, I'm starting to think you might have a secret thing for the upper crust."

Alexi let out a scoff mixed with laughter. "Absolutely not. Just look at that one." She nodded toward another boy emerging from the vehicle, dressed in crisp riding gear, the epitome of high class. Two others followed: one shared a resemblance but sported long, disheveled hair and a brooding expression, while the other's piercings and partially dyed hair screamed anti-establishment. "Did they find him in an alleyway or something?" Alexi muttered under her breath.

Peter, surprisingly, chimed in with an unexpected zinger. "You look like you've had your fair share of dumpster diving too." "Has James been slipping you sass biscuits? Those are usually reserved for me," she retorted with mock indignation.

The room burst into laughter, even Peter seemed pleasantly surprised by his own boldness. As their laughter filled the kitchen, James returned, with the new arrivals in tow.
