Chapter 8

Maya’s nerves were on edge as she sat at the very table, where the next scene would start. Her heart was hammering in her chest, her palms slick with sweat as she waited for Carina. The set was quiet, everyone in their positions, but Maya couldn’t seem to focus. It wasn’t the scene, it wasn’t the pressure—it was Carina.

Carina’s character, Dr. Russo, was about to have a one-on-one scene with Maya’s character, Dr. Greene. It was supposed to be professional, but everyone on set knew that the chemistry between the two actresses was already magical, and the script had only added fuel to the fire.

Carina entered with her usual confidence, striding across the set. The moment she stepped into the space, Maya felt her pulse spike. Carina’s eyes locked onto hers with a smoldering intensity that made it hard to breathe.

"Ready?" Carina’s voice was low and rich.

Maya nodded, but it felt like her throat had closed up. "Yeah, let’s go."

The director called action, and the scene began.

----------

Dr. Greene, Maya’s character, was sitting at the table, paperwork spread in front of her. Dr. Russo, Carina’s character, walked in, clearly unimpressed with the hospital’s state of affairs. The dialogue was simple at first.

As they exchanged lines, Carina moved closer to Maya’s chair, her gaze never leaving Maya’s face. Every word she spoke was slow, deliberate. Her breath was warm against Maya’s ear as she leaned in, her voice dropping an octave.

"So, Dr. Greene," Carina murmured, the teasing edge to her words making Maya’s stomach flip, "tell me—what's it like to have everything figured out?"

Maya swallowed, trying to keep her composure, but Carina’s proximity was distracting—no, it was dangerous.

She cleared her throat. "It’s… it’s not as easy as it looks."

Carina’s lips quirked into a smile. She reached out, her hand grazing Maya’s shoulder as she leaned in closer. The touch was light, barely a brush, but Maya felt it all the way down to her core.

"Oh, I’m sure." Carina’s voice dropped even lower, sending a shiver down Maya’s spine. "But you seem like the type who likes to be in control."

Maya’s heart was racing now, and she tried to focus on her lines, but everything was hazy. She felt like she couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe. Carina’s presence was overpowering—and not in a bad way. It was almost like the scene had stopped being about acting and had become something else entirely.

Carina leaned even closer, her hand moving to the back of Maya’s neck, her fingers grazing the skin there with a soft, lingering touch.

Maya’s breath caught in her throat. She could feel the warmth of Carina’s body near hers, the scent of her perfume, the softness of her skin. Everything felt so real.

"Dr. Greene," Carina whispered, her lips barely brushing the shell of Maya’s ear, "do you ever let go?"

Maya couldn’t respond right away. Her mind was spinning. She wanted to say something, anything, but all she could focus on was Carina’s fingers lightly caressing her skin, her breath tickling her ear.

The scene was escalating, but in a way that felt too real to be a performance.

Carina gently turned Maya’s chair toward her, their faces inches apart now, the heat between them palpable. Maya’s heart was hammering in her chest, and her skin tingled wherever Carina had touched her.

"You know," Carina continued, her voice smooth, teasing, "I think you’re afraid to let go. Afraid of what might happen."

Maya’s pulse raced, her mind scrambling for something to say, something to do, but her body was betraying her. She could feel her breath quickening, her hands trembling slightly. She hadn’t expected this—didn’t know how to handle this.

Carina smirked, her eyes darkening with amusement. Her hand moved again, this time resting lightly on Maya’s knee, her fingers grazing the fabric of Maya’s pants. The contact was brief, but it sent an electric shock through Maya’s body.

The scene was supposed to be playful, a little flirtatious, but Maya could sense that Carina was taking it somewhere deeper.

"Do you ever let yourself feel, Dr. Greene?" Carina whispered, her lips hovering dangerously close to Maya’s.

Maya’s breath hitched in her throat. "I—"

Before she could finish, Carina closed the distance between them, her lips brushing lightly against Maya’s.

The kiss was soft at first, teasing, like Carina was waiting for Maya to make a move, to respond. But as Maya’s hands found their way to Carina’s shoulders, the kiss deepened, and everything else faded away. The world disappeared.

For a moment, Maya forgot they were even on set. She forgot about the cameras, the crew, the script. All that mattered was the feeling of Carina’s lips on hers, the warmth of her body against hers, the dizzying sensation of being consumed by this moment.

-------------

"Cut!" the director’s voice called sharply, breaking the spell.

Maya’s heart was pounding in her chest, her lips still tingling from the kiss. She blinked, feeling disoriented, like she’d just come up for air after being underwater.

Carina stepped back, looking down at Maya with a playful glint in her eye. "Not bad," she said, her voice a little breathless. "But you might want to work on your technique a little bit more."

Maya couldn’t help the flush that spread across her cheeks. Was she serious? She had no idea what had just happened. Had she imagined it?

But Carina was already moving on, adjusting her costume, acting as if everything was just another day at work. Maya couldn’t help but watch her, still reeling from the intensity of the moment.

One thing was certain: she was in way too deep.

----------

During the midday break, Carina and Maya sat together on a nearby bench, both absorbed in their scripts as they went over lines for their next scene. Carina, with her usual confidence, leaned forward, her finger tracing the words on the page as she whispered the lines under her breath.

Maya tried to focus, but her thoughts kept wandering back to the scene earlier, the way Carina had kissed her with such intensity, the way she’d made her feel something she couldn’t quite explain. Every glance, every touch between them, seemed to leave her craving more.

Just as Maya began to clear her thoughts and re-focus, she saw Robert Sullivan striding toward them. He had a confident swagger about him, and his smile was, as always, too charming for his own good.

"Carina, Maya," he said in that overly friendly tone of his, his eyes lingering on Carina a little too long. "Mind if I join you for a bit?"

Carina barely glanced up, offering a half-hearted smile. "Sure, Robert. Take a seat."

Maya felt a twinge of discomfort as Robert slid onto the bench beside them, his proximity only serving to remind her of how much she was trying (and failing) to ignore his flirtatious behavior toward Carina.

“So,” Robert began, leaning back with a cocky grin. “I am sure you weren`t serious earlier. I mean, look at me! I am quite handsome... So, I was thinking, how about you let me invite you to a nice night out? My treat, of course. ou deserve it. I know a great spot. You and me, some great wine, maybe some good conversation...I let you talk, of course…”

Carina turned her head, her lips quirking up in amusement as she tilted her head. “Dinner, huh? I’m intrigued, but you’ll need to prove yourself first.”

Robert raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. “Prove myself? What do you mean?”

Carina’s eyes sparkled mischievously as she straightened up, now fully engaging in the conversation. “I’ll go to dinner with you, Robert, but only if you can answer three questions for me. If your answers are good enough, I’ll say yes. But if not... well, I’ll go find something else to do.”

Maya blinked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. She hadn’t expected this. She certainly didn’t expect Robert to go along with it, but to Maya’s shock, Robert nodded eagerly, clearly up for the challenge.

“Okay, Carina. What’s your first question?”

Carina leaned back with a playful smirk, her fingers lightly tapping the edge of the bench.

"Alright, the first question. I want you to tell me what the female orgasm feels like."

Maya’s jaw dropped slightly. Her eyes shot wide open, and she instinctively glanced at Carina, who looked like she was enjoying this far more than she should be. Robert, on the other hand, looked a little less confident.

“Well…” Robert stammered, scratching the back of his neck. “I guess, uh, it’s like… you know, like a really intense, like… wave of pleasure?”

Carina let out a small, dramatic sigh, clearly unimpressed. “Mediocre,” she muttered under her breath. “You’re not even close, Robert.”

Maya couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Was Carina seriously making Robert answer questions about this? She was sitting there, almost in disbelief, watching as Robert fumbled through his answers like a schoolboy being quizzed on anatomy.

“Alright, Robert,” Carina continued, clearly enjoying herself. “Second question: What’s the best way to make a woman reach that point?”

Robert’s face went a little pale, but he puffed out his chest and tried to keep his composure. “Well, I’d say it’s all about taking your time, you know? Maybe some foreplay...”

Carina shook her head in mock disappointment. “Come on, Robert. That’s all so generic. You’ve got to know more than that to impress me.”

Maya couldn’t help but chuckle at how much fun Carina was having at Robert’s expense, but she was also increasingly uncomfortable. She could see that Robert was trying to keep his confidence, but he was clearly out of his depth here.

“Alright, last chance,” Carina said, leaning in slightly. “Third question: What’s the key to making it unforgettable for a woman?”

Robert opened his mouth to speak but hesitated, his mind clearly struggling for the right words. “I... guess it’s about knowing what she likes, right? Paying attention to her cues. Giving her what she wants.”

Carina looked at him with a mixture of amusement and pity. “Wrong again, Robert. You’re really not getting it.”

Maya couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst into laughter, unable to stop herself from reacting to the absurdity of it all. Robert’s face flushed a deep red as he tried to recover from his complete failure to impress Carina.

“Well, that was fun,” Carina said, grinning widely, clearly reveling in the moment. “I’ll give you credit for trying, Robert, but I’m afraid you don’t quite meet my standards. Dinner’s off the table. For you information that means forever!”

Robert just nodded, defeated but still trying to play it off with a laugh. “Yeah, alright.” He stood up and started to walk away, but not before tossing one last comment over his shoulder. “You know, I really thought I could impress you.”

Carina shrugged, her smile never fading. “That`s quite impossibilie.”

As Robert left, Maya just stared at Carina, still recovering from the sheer ridiculousness of it all. Carina turned toward her, her eyes twinkling mischievously.

“Don’t act so surprised,” Carina said, her voice playful. “I needed to verify if he had any depth at all. Looks like he’s all surface.”

Maya couldn’t stop herself from shaking her head in disbelief. “That was… incredible. I’ve never seen someone get humiliated so thoroughly.”

Carina winked at her. “Oh, he will survive. And now we can get back to important things—like our scene later, no?”

Maya’s mind was still whirling from the strange and hilarious exchange. She stared at Carina for more a moment, who was casually flipping through her script. But something was gnawing at her.

“Maya,” Carina said, glancing up at her with that familiar glint in her eyes. “What`s that look about?”

Maya hesitated for a moment. “I was just thinking about those questions...”

Carina raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”

Maya swallowed. This was the moment to ask, to learn more about Carina. Something inside her felt the need to understand this playful side of Carina. “Well, yeah,” Maya said, unable to keep her curiosity at bay. “I mean, you made Robert answer them, and you of course are so… knowledgeable. Considering you sex study and all. I’m just wondering what you wanted to hear.”

Carina’s lips curled into a smirk as she leaned back, clearly enjoying the situation. “Well, that’s easy. But first I’ll turn the tables on you, Maya.”

“What do you mean?” Maya asked, perplexed.

Carina’s eyes glinted with amusement. “I’m going to ask you those three questions. And we’ll see if you can impress me with your answers.”

Maya blinked, surprised by the shift. “Wait, what? You want me to answer them?”

Carina nodded. “Yes. Same questions. Don’t hold back.”

Maya was caught off guard but took a deep breath.

“Alright, shoot.” Maya said, sitting up straighter. “Hit me with those questions.”

Carina studied her for a moment before speaking. “Okay, first one. What does the female orgasm feel like?”

Maya cleared her throat. She wasn’t sure how much detail Carina wanted, but she figured it was best to be as honest as she could.

“Well, for me,” Maya began slowly, her voice more deliberate than usual, “it’s like an intense, almost electric sensation, like a wave that crashes over you and then lingers for a moment, making everything feel sharper, like the world just… shifts for a second. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like being fully immersed in that feeling, almost like time stops, and everything is just… there. You’re in the moment completely.”

Carina’s lips quirked slightly, clearly listening, but her gaze didn’t give away much. “What about the second question: What’s the best way to make a woman reach that point?”

Maya’s confidence grew a little. She wasn’t afraid to answer this one either.

“I think it’s about trust and knowing the person. Everyone’s different, right? It’s about understanding what makes them tick, what makes them feel safe and comfortable. That can include being patient, paying attention to the little things—like kissing, touching, learning what gives pleasure. Communication, too, is key. If you’re not listening to the person, you’re just going through the motions. But when you’re really listening, that’s when it works. Timing and attention to detail are crucial.”

Carina nodded thoughtfully, her expression still unreadable. “Mmm. Okay. Now the third question: What’s the key to making it unforgettable for a woman?”

Maya hesitated for a brief second. This was the big one.

“For me,” Maya began carefully, “it’s about connection. When you’re with someone who you trust and who makes you feel seen, not just physically, but emotionally—when you’re in tune with each other, it transcends the physical. It’s about vulnerability and being present in the moment. It’s not just about the act itself—it’s about everything around it, the intimacy, the feelings, the attention. And when that’s there, it’s unforgettable.”

Carina tilted her head, her lips smacking lightly together. She didn’t say anything immediately, just stared at Maya for a moment as if considering her answers or for something else entirely.

Maya’s heart raced, and she couldn’t stop herself from nervously shifting. Was she being too blunt? Too honest?

Finally, Carina spoke, her tone both playful and serious. “Hmm. You were definitely way more detailed than Robert, I’ll give you that. But… still, not quite right.”

Maya’s eyebrows furrowed. “What? Not right?”

Carina leaned in closer, locking eyes with Maya, her voice soft but unyielding. Damn.

“You see, Maya, you gave correct answers.” Carina tilted her head slightly, watching her. “But you have no idea how your answers will change, after having really good sex with someone who knows what they are doing.”

Maya swallowed, feeling strangely exposed under Carina’s gaze.

Maya exhaled a slow breath, then let out a small, nervous chuckle. “So… no date with you, then?”

Carina’s lips twitched into a smirk, and there it was again—that look. The one that made Maya’s heart stutter in her chest.

“You didn’t quite make the cut, Maya.” Carina’s voice was playful, teasing. But her eyes… her eyes said something entirely different.

Maya, despite herself, grinned. “I guess I’ll just have to work harder to impress you, huh?”

Carina’s smirk deepened. “Oh, Ma-ya… it’s not about impressing me.” She leaned back on the bench, crossing her arms, her expression shifting into something more serious. “It’s about understanding things for yourself. And when you truly get there…” She paused, considering. “Well, then we’ll see.”

A challenge. And Maya had the distinct feeling that Carina was enjoying watching her squirm. Yet again.

Maya opened her mouth, ready with a quip, but Carina’s gaze sharpened, her expression unreadable as she leaned forward again. Her next words landed like a spark on dry wood.

“The female orgasm,” Carina began, her voice calm and deliberate, each word measured with scientific precision, as if she were delivering a lecture on a complex physiological process. “It’s not simply a physical reaction. It’s an intricate, multifaceted experience—a release of both sensation and emotion. A culmination of intricate neural, hormonal, and psychological components working together in harmony. Of course, the ability to achieve it is contingent upon understanding how to properly engage with the body, particularly when it comes to stimulating the right areas…”

Maya blinked in surprise. Oh. We’re really delving into this.

Carina continued, her tone unwavering, though there was a subtle change, as if she were carefully selecting her words for maximum clarity. “The sensation itself is akin to an electric shock that reverberates through the entire nervous system, its intensity radiating outward, up to the brain. Imagine a current running through every fiber of your being, igniting each nerve ending, syncing them to a single, unified frequency. And then, all of it culminates in a rush—a sudden, all-encompassing surge of energy that’s hard to put into words.” She paused for a moment, as if reflecting on her own experience and her medical study. “It’s like an explosion, like everything that’s built up inside you releases in one powerful, intense moment. There’s nothing quite like it. You really should have seen the responses visible on the MRI. And for me personally, it’s not just about the physical release. It’s also a balance of control and surrender. You’re simultaneously in the driver’s seat, yet at the mercy of the sensation, letting go completely while still being fully aware of the experience.” Her gaze remained steady, a quiet confidence in her expression. “It’s a profound connection between the body, the mind, and, in many ways, your deepest self.”

Maya, who had been nodding along as if taking mental notes, suddenly realized she was gripping the edge of the bench a little too hard.

“So…” she started, trying to sound casual, even as her voice betrayed her. “You’re saying that it’s… all about letting go?”

Carina’s smirk returned.

“I’m saying that when you truly let go—when you stop trying to control everything, when you allow yourself to fully feel—that’s when it becomes the most powerful.”

Maya’s mouth felt suddenly very dry.

Carina smiled knowingly, a flicker of amusement in her eyes.

Maya cleared her throat. Focus, Bishop. Don’t let her win this round.

Carina tilted her head, studying her. Then, with the smallest curve of her lips, she added, “It’s not something you can just learn, Maya. It’s something you have to experience. With the right person, of course… Someone who knows how to read your body and knows how to make you feel safe enough to let go. Without that trust, without that connection, it becomes just a physical act. And that’s not the same thing at all.”

Silence stretched between them, thick with something neither of them addressed.

Maya finally managed to exhale, her voice slightly rough. “Noted.”

Carina chuckled, leaning back like she hadn’t just sent Maya into a full-blown existential crisis. “Good. Now, shall we get back to work?”

Maya forced a nod, but she had one last question.

“And… what about you, Carina? What do you like to make an orgasm mind-blowing?”

Carina gave a slow smile, like she’d been expecting this question all along.

“Well, I’ll tell you what I like, Ma-ya,” Carina said, her voice taking on a deeper, more intimate tone, “I like being in control—there’s something empowering about it. The way you can guide every movement, every touch, with a steady hand. But…” She paused, “I also like losing it. There’s a certain freedom in surrendering—letting go completely, allowing someone else to take the reins for a while.”

Maya’s breath caught. She had no idea what to say. She had asked for this, and now she was getting it—Carina’s deepest preferences, laid out in front of her. It was a lot to take in, but Maya was fascinated.

“I also like intimacy,” Carina continued, her eyes darkening slightly. “The way you can connect with someone in a way that goes beyond the physical. The way their touch can make your skin feel alive, how the smallest movement can send your pulse racing. I love kissing, slow and deep. And I’m not just talking about the kind of kissing that gets just done. I’m talking about the kind of kiss that says everything without saying a word.”

Maya found herself lost in Carina’s brown eyes, unable to look away. The air had thickened, charged with the unspoken tension between them. She could feel her own heart pounding in her chest, her breath slightly shallow, and a fluttering feeling in her stomach she couldn’t quite explain.

Carina didn’t seem to notice the effect she was having on Maya, or maybe she did—either way, she was leaning back on the bench again, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips.

Maya swallowed, her mouth still dry. She had asked for this—pushed for it, even—and now Carina was giving her an answer so detailed, so utterly intoxicating, that she wasn’t sure how to process it.

Maya forced herself to keep it together, to play it cool, but Carina’s smirk told her that she was already losing that battle.

“Interesting,” Maya finally managed, shifting slightly in her seat. “You talk about kissing like it’s an art form.”

Carina’s eyes glimmered with mischief. “Because it is. I thought I also demonstrated that earlier and the other day.”

Maya exhaled a soft laugh, trying to break the tension—the deliciously unbearable tension. “And I suppose you consider yourself a master artist?”

Carina tilted her head, her smile lazy, confident. “Would you like to find out?”

Maya’s brain short-circuited.

She should have expected that. Of course, Carina would take the opportunity to make her squirm.

Maya let out a dramatic sigh, feigning nonchalance. “That depends. Do you offer live demonstrations yet again, or is this just purely theoretical?”

Carina laughed, low and warm, the kind of laugh that made Maya’s stomach flip. “Ah, Maya,” she mused, tapping a finger thoughtfully against her lips. “You’re playing a very dangerous game.”

Maya raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in her eye despite the fact that her pulse was now racing. “Oh? And what happens if I lose?”

Carina leaned forward, her voice dropping just enough to make Maya’s breath hitch. “Then you’ll have to find out exactly what I meant about surrender.”

Maya nearly knocked over her water bottle.

Carina sat back again, perfectly composed, watching her with a knowing smirk.

Then Carina gave her a playful wink, standing up smoothly. “Come on,” she murmured. “We have work to do. Unless you’re too… distracted?”

Maya narrowed her eyes, “Oh, I’m fine. Perfectly fine.”

Carina smirked, already walking towards the sudio door. “Mmm. We’ll see about that.”
