James

James had been told about his fathers exit from his last transfigurations lesson on multiple occasion and had since the first time he heard it been onboard with the whole thing and had every intention of continuing it and making it into the tradition he knew his dad wished it to be and he felt proud knowing he was the key for it to become what he knew it could be so as McGonagall finished talking about what a pleasure it had been to teach them all he to followed in his fathers footsteps. Both of them wanted to build something that would outlive them and this was his fathers chans just as much as it was his own. As his fellow classmates packed their things. James stood proud on top of his desk. Looking at his classmates waiting patiently for them to turn their attention to him. Once everyone was looking at him in either slight fear or confusion. Most of them were looking at him in fear of being exposed to one last prank. His friends however were looking at him with confusion as they knew he didn’t have a prank planned. They also knew that he would never expose them to one without warning and he had not filled them in on what he was going to do. With everyone’s attention he turned fully to his head of house grinning like a maniac. He saluted and then he said;

“Oh captain, my captain, you’ll be missed” Then he threw out his hands still grinning looking out at the people who he had shared the last seven years of his life with before looking back at his favourite teacher and bowing theatrically. He jumped down the table before strutting out of the classroom. His classmates cheered him on as he left. As he left he saw Sirius following his lead both saluting and then bowing before leaving with a grin. He saw McGonagall holding back a smile and that her eyes were more wet than usual. The rest of his classmates followed their Head boys lead and left ginning with their heads held high. His friends clapped him on the back and praised him for it before asking where he got the idea where he simply answered with “Family tradition” they continued to cheer him on as they made their way to Gryffindor tower. Back in the classroom McGonagall looked after them as the last student left she had a small proud smile on her lips and wiped her eyes carefully letting out a small laugh and a shake of her head her no longer so little lions may be utterly ridiculous but she loved them no less and even if she knew something was coming and while she feared it she had a feeling they would be alright.
