A Peak Outside
Freak flinched when he heard the front door slammed shut, he didn't make a single sound. Freak must never make a sound no matter what happens. Sir, madam and little sir had been talking loudly all morning with little sir running up and down the stairs causing dust to fall on to freak, but freak learned long ago that if he keeps his eyes closed and his head turned down then no dust will land in them and make them hurt. But now the house was blessedly silent. After waiting for what felt like forever in the dark cupboard, Freak pushed softly against the door. It moved! The door was unlocked! Slowly just in case it was a trick, Freak opened the door.
The house was completely silent. Not making a sound, Freak slipped out of the cupboard and looked around, he smiled when he couldn’t hear, see or feel anyone. There was no one home. Smiling happily to himself and clapping his hands in glee because this has never happened before, sir and madam had always locked the cupboard before they left or beat him so badly that he couldn't move to check the door. Smiling freak ran straight to the bathroom on silent feet and used it. Hoping that the Dursley's wouldn't be back for hours Freak Stripped before jumping into the shower and had his first hot shower that he could remember, after stepping out of the shower freak looked at his dirty holey cloths and smiling went down to his cupboard and grabbed every scrap of cloth he had and went to the washing machine smiling he stuffed everything in it and put in a lot of soap because his stuff was really dirty compared to sir’s madams and little sirs stuff. Freak started the machine with the biggest numbers he could find and jumped down waving his arms as he danced through the hallways naked towards the kitchen... Freak stopped at little sir's room and found a big green shirt that when he put it on fell to his knees, Brand new still in the package underwear (he had to put a knot in it to keep it up) and fuzzy socks. Smiling and twirling around making the soft material from the shirt fly out around him;
Freak continued his bouncy dance to the kitchen. Freak looked at all the stuff that was on the kitchen counters. It was food but Freak had never seen some of them before. There was a round and orange colored ball thing right next to what freak knew was an apple but then there was a pile of weird long, yellow, green things on top of each other right behind the apples. Curious Freak picked up the orange colored ball. It smelled sweet. He took a bite. It was really bitter on the outside but sweet and juicy on the inside.
Freak grabbed an apple and started walking around the house when he saw the door, the door that Sir, madam and little sir goes out of all the time and comes back hours later. Freak decided that he had to take a peek outside. Freak couldn't stop himself as he went to the front door, it was like a siren call and he had no way of fighting it. It took a moment for Freak to figure out how to unlock it but soon enough he was standing in the front yard. The outside world was really bright and had so many more colors. It was bright and beautiful, no wonder madam and sir never let him outside. They didn't like him to be happy and since coming outside he couldn't stop smiling. There were so many new things Freak had never seen before and so many colors he didn't know the name of.
At that moment Freak heard the washing machine ding, Freak looked back at the house. He didn't want to go back in there, it was dark and cold and lonely, but out here there was so much color and warmth. Freak looked down the road; there was something tall and green in the distance, way taller than the short green stuff around sirs and madams house. Nodding his head, Freak started walking barefoot away from the cold dark house.
