Chapter 4
Previously:
Before Tom could fully comprehend the letter completely there was a loud bang from the streets and the house shook dangerously. The smell of smoke was traveling through the house at a terrifying pace.
Tom tried to stand up and make it out of the room to his children, but before he could even take two steps, everything went black.

“The Nest has been hit, I repeat, The Nest has been hit, all available units head to The Nest!”
When Severus apparated into the Ministry atrium the last thing he expected was the chaos that surrounded him. Cursing his luck, Severus sprints to the MediWizard department and finds everyone suiting up in their protective gear.
Severus already in his Cargo pants, boots, and utility belt, just throws off his outer robe and exchanges it for the MediWizard Polo and Outer robe in a rich charcoal grey.
“Alright Ladies, all hands on deck! This is a quick search and rescue mission. There was a loud bang and fire reported to be coming from inside the Minister’s flat in London. The Official Fire Broomgade is already at the scene keeping the fire contained and the Aurors are maintaining the perimeter for any suspicious activity. I want you all to fly over, check to see if anyone is inside the house, and remove them if possible. Johnson will take the lead on this medevac, Move Out!”
There were only 6 other MediWizards on the squad other than Severus, two of whom he recognized as being a few years ahead of him in Hogwarts, the other 3 he could tell from the grey robes and the nervous look in their eyes that they were also in training, and then, of course, there was Oliver “Delta” Johnson, the most backward and obtuse Alpha that Severus had ever met.
“Whiskey, Tango, take Rocket and Niffler around the back of the house and see if there is a way to get in from there without disturbing the FB. Phoenix you’re with me, we’ll take the front and go directly upstairs.” Johnson said, pointing out where everyone should be using the map of the minister's flat. “Rudolph stay put.”
“Like hell I am,” Severus said, rising to get his Rescue Pack and slinging it on like a backpack. “The Captain said all hands on deck.”
“Now’s not the time for games, Omega,” Johnson sneered, “This is an actual at-stakes mission and you’d just get in the way. The captain put me in charge and unless the fire will respond to a slag opening their legs, we don’t need you.”
“You’re pathetic,” Severus spits, face red and teeth bared.
“Sure,” Johnson says, grabbing his broom and mounting it. “But at least I have value, you’re just a weak little omega trying to play hero, or better yet, play alpha.”
As he flew off with the rest of the squad Severus couldn’t help but look over at the building layout again. If that idiot had looked close enough he would have known that the back of the house was facing the Thames which meant the entrances would be in front of the house and on the sides.
At that moment Severus makes a decision, taking one last look at the layout and the address Severus closes his eyes and apparates.
The first thing that Severus noticed before he opened his eyes was the sheer volume of smoke that had just entered his lungs. Coughing, Severus opens his eyes to one of the scariest sights of his life.
The fire wasn’t by any means “contained,” it was raging and angry, spreading across both sides of the street and looked nowhere near to the point of stopping. Severus casts a bubblehead charm on himself to breathe easier before running to the Head Officer in charge.
“Sir, Severus Snape from Medevac, what can you tell me about the fire and the people inside!” Severus yelled to be heard over all the screaming going on around him.
“This fire’s a goddamn cunt I can tell you that much! We’ve been putting all our power into it for the last 45 minutes and it hasn’t budged, it’s one tough bitch!”
“And the Minister, sir?”
“No Idea, Doesn’t look like anyone is home, if they were they’d be out here already!”
Before the Officer had finished talking Severus started walking towards the fire, casting protective charms over his Robe and tying his hair back into a bun.
“What the hell do ya think yer doin’ son?! Dontcha see the fire?!”
“I need to go and check the house, see if there is anyone inside, maybe you lot are down to rule out that there is no one inside but I’ll take my chances!” and with that Severus walked around to the side of the house and levitated himself to the second story window.
Smashing the window, Severus immediately took a burst of heat. Rubbing his eyes, he looked around and saw that the fire seemed to be stopping at the staircase, seeming to be devouring the house from the bottom before moving higher.
That bought Severus some time to look around the house.
“Homenum Revelio,” he said, looking for any presence of Human life. Through the walls, a large figure lit up periwinkle blue and Severus rushed over, knocking down the door.
When he entered the room he didn’t see anything, it looked to be a nursery but there wasn’t any sign of human life. Casting the Human-presence-revealing Spell again he saw that the singular figure was actually multiple figures and the beacon was coming from the closet.
Severus approached the closet and opened the door only to come face to face with the feral eyes of an Alpha.
‘Shit, he’s gone feral,’ Severus thought.
