Pretty woman says what now?
“Where exactly are we going?” Dorcas questions and Dear Demeter she’s so overwhelmingly perfect. Her voice is soft and Marlene for one certainly knows she would be a perfect singer. Dorcas also has the coolest style to ever exist and even if she hadn’t known she looked very obviously Hecate’s child. One look and she screamed witch. Also screamed beauty but that’s another thing.
“To our annual witch burning, we’re reimagining the spanish inquisition” Marlene replies curtly and for a brief moment Dorcas startles before Marlene releases a whole hearted laugh and Dorcas herself rolls her eyes muttering about it not being funny. For the contrary Marlene is quiet hilarious thank you very much.
“The library, thought you would be wanting some peace and quiet and maybe tell me about things you know for I am certain you have knowledge you are not sharing.”
“What makes you think I’m willing to share?” Dorcas steps closer to her and Marlene can feel her perfume which is a sweet odour of vanilla and lilies and it’s so powerful especially this close to her that it could get Marlene drunk.
“Perhaps I just like you company then?” she flirts, because no matter how nervous this girl will make her Marlene is not about to let any of that on and she can still act smooth if she wishes. Later on she will most likely loose it and dump it all on Sirius however just like she always does when something troubles. Because they just get. Sirius might act as this cocky, no pun intended unserious person but in truth they were one of the wisest people to exist and just a genuinely good listener.
“And that’s supposed to make me follow along?” Dorcas calls back with the same amount of flirt in her voice and Marlene would perhaps feel about let down about that if Dorcas would not be still blindly following her. She has the thought that they could likely just go right to a bunker of Hephaestus’s cabin that’s just as good as collapsing and Dorcas would follow her there. Not like Marlene would do that but it is an entertaining thought to play with.
“Seeing as you are without skipping a beat I would say as much” so they stroll along now side by side and it takes all Marlene has in her to not just turn around and kiss her. But as much as those urges are there, she barely knows the girl and she truly is not that easily swooned. Undoubtably Dorcas has caught her eye the very moment she arrived to camp and yes, the more time they spend together the more overwhelming her presence gets but Marlene refuses to just make out with someone simply because they are pretty.
So instead they walk along. The thing about the whole ordeal with this girl is that people barely come here knowing who their godly parent is. Most know nothing about greek mythology itself as their parents a) either thought that would protect the kid because they foolishly believed if the kid know nothing of their situation, the monsters wouldn’t either. Which is as idiotic of a thought as it sounds if not even more so. It’s like thinking that not admitting your hair is brown it will turn blue.
Or b) the parents themselves did not genuinely know. Because sometimes the gods just take a form on themselves and ease into mortal lives to get with people without ever sharing the actual truth about their reality.
No matter which cade the kids usually just end up running here for their godsforsaken lives, away from whatever monster was chasing them or led here by a satyr leaving the kids just as much traumatized because their best friend just turned out to be half goat.
And as for Dorcas, she not only turned up claiming herself already as a daughter of Hecate, but she just casually washed up ashore on a lovely afternoon then woke up to finish a prophecy the whole world has been stressing about for years. Marlene doesn’t have to guess to much to realize this definitely brought the happenings from said prophecy forward maybe even set them in motion and she for a fact knows Dorcas still has knowledge she’s not yet shared. Considering she without even without knowing his name spotted Remus and basically proved what everyone has known since he himself arrived at camp, that he was the chosen one , the subject of the prophecy if you will.
And well, even if Dorcas doesn’t want to, it’s not like she really has the right to withold any kind of information on the matter as it literally could cost the whole fate of humanity as it is. Or well presumably she has the right but why would she ever risk such a thing? Surely she realizes how much is at stake and Marlene herself definitely would not keep such things from people.
By this time they’ve reached the doors of the library so Marlene, as the gentleman- well woman- she is opens the door for Dorcas and she walks in. The first sight to greet them is Sirius Black and Remus Lupin standing close by just about to kiss and Marlene firstly thinks “Fucking finally!” then realizes they perhaps ruined their moment with barging in and she suddenly has the urge to groan.
Seriously, no pun intended, those two had been obliviously pining for eachother since they first met at camp basically. How they haven’t worked it out is both in a way fascinating and first and foremost infuriating as hell. For a moment that seems to stretch out into such a long period it starts to become uncomfortable then Dorcas breaks the silence
“You” she says, this time looking at Sirius.
“Well that’s lovely, second time I see you and your vocabulary has not improved “ they reply back and Marlene can see Remus hide a smile awkwardly.
Dorcas just seems to be lost at the moment glancing between the three of them with first fear then realisation and lastly curiosity.
“You have a brother don’t you?” she asks pointing at Sirius who looks just as confused as all of them feels but being the only one living on and for drama shows it alone.
“I don’t see why’s that important nor what you have to do with it but I do” Dorcas basically shoots daggers from her eyes at Sirius and for a moment Marlene is overcame with the fact that Dorcas is actually a witch and could actually do things such as that.
“You guys know everyone around here right?” Dorcas suddenly faces Marlene and grasps both her upper arms. Her hands have a strong grip and Marlene can feel the cool touch of each and every ring pressing coolly against her own skin whilst the fingers wearing them are so warm like they carry sunlight in them.
“Mostly, yes. Why? What is going on?” To be fair she is actually concerned for the girl. Especially seeing how she handled Barty and Evan who actually tend to be intimidating and actually are just a bit on the edge of insanity at most times, practically bonding with the two and now she is absolutely freaked and lost by the presence of Sirius and Remus who are amongst the few people almost everyone would consider an easygoing person and great company to be around.
Still- Dorcas looks and acts basically disturbed.
“If I told you I happen to know who the 8 people of the prophecy are could you manage to get them at one place like as soon as you can?”
“Wait, the prophecy as in Moony’s prophecy?” Sirius suddenly retorts because ofcourse they have to be involved in every conversation even the slightest bit concerning their precious Moony
“Who the fuck is- nevermind, answer the question”
“Perhaps, yeah? Name a time and place”
“Time is now and place is whichever that your judgement thinks can contain the two Blacks, Remus Lupin, James Potter, Mary Mcdonald, Lily Evans and us two” Marlene’s eyes widen because her? She is literally only the child of Hermes, god of travellers and thieves and frankly enough she’s not even gifted with any godly powers like some of her siblings are, and her mom is only middle class woman working in a high school. Surely she is not fit to save the world.
“No clue who this Mary is but everyone else is easily accessible.” Remus replies and that’s precisely the time Dorcas lets go of her.
“Is there a place where one can be alone without anyone barging in?”
“I guess the Hades cabin if it’s fine with Sirius and Reg?”
And well as it was Remus asking the question Sirius obviously agreed so now they all are ought to meet in 20 there to discuss how a bunch of teenagers with one total stranger who they’ve never met and one who just showed up and so far only acted utterly insane will save the world.
