That was last fall. It was now spring. Lily ran through the busiest street. Her black skirt flowed in the wind. She wore her black rain boots and a simple blouse. Her freckles were slowly getting more noticeable because of the sun. She was on her way over to Remus. They had decided to meet at the back of the village. They had planned to get started on their english exam essay. Lily arrived about on time but Remus was nowhere to be seen.
Then the first explosion came. A loud bang was heard. People flowed out of their houses. They were all screaming but Lily couldn't find herself too. A lump formed in her throat. Petunia, Remus. Little kids cried. Lily felt helpless. Why were they doing this? The second explosion came. Helicopters flew above their heads. Any moment could be the last. She was about to run back into the village when a strong hand pulled her backwards. She looked back and it was two boys. One had tan skin, brown hair glasses and brown eyes. The other was pale black curly fairly long hair and grey eyes. The brown haired boy had pulled her arm.
They seemed wealthy. Their clothes were clean and seemed like a sort of uniform. They both had weapons attached to their belts. Lily crumbled in fear. What did they want from her, she just needed to find her sister and her best friend. She tried to pull her arm away. "LET ME GO!" She cried out. Both boys seemed in a rush and shushed her. "STOP!" Tears flew down her cheeks. Every minute was like gold. Not a minute to waste. More bom's were heard behind her. She looked back. Her home was crumbling down. Fire was spreading in a rapit tempo.
"Come with us." The black haired boy said. Lily just shook her head. She may be dumb but she wasn't crazy. They were most likely to manipulate her into the capitol system. These people took Severus and all the other victims and victors. "We wont hurt you! Remus is with us." The brown haired boy now said. How did they know his name. No no no no. Lily cried even harder. She pulled and pulled trying to get her arm loose. They were going to kill Remus. "Leave him alone!" She cried out. Both boys looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
"Lily!" Remus shouted. Lily whipped around. Remus came running towards them. They let Lily go. Remus pulled Lily into a hug. He gave the two other boys curt nods. "Petunia..?" Lily asked. Her voice was shaky and unbalanced. The fear trembled in her voice. Remus swallowed hard. "I don't know but, some people have already escaped." He told her carefully. Then he pulled away and looked Lily in the eyes. "Just follow me and I will explain everything." Remus said with that look in his eye. That same look he had in the hunger games. Lily had hoped to never see it again. She nodded carefully before being pulled along. They ran all the way out of district twelve.
The two boys didn't talk. They just seemed to know where they were heading. Lily couldn't find herself to care. Her mind was set on Petunia. Petunia didn't like when she worried about her. But Lily had too. She couldn't stop herself this time. What if she was in real danger? What if she was dead under the fallen buildings? Maybe she was taken by the capitol who knew.
Behind the tree line stood a big hover sort of thing. Lily had no idea what it was, just that it flew and was mainly used for war times. "Were just going somewhere safer okay?" Remus asked. Lily nodded. The tears stained her face. They climbed in and almost as soon as they came as soon as the thing started going up. Inside there were more people. The tension in the air was bad. It was heavy and it was to be seen on every one's faces. "Remus what is happening?' Lily asked. Before remus could answer the black haired boy answered. "War, and we have no place for-for-" He gave up but Lily knew what he wanted to say. "Peasants? Citizens?" She screamed. The tears came back. "You killed my sister! You took everything from me!" Lily shouted in his face. Everyone went quiet.
Remus grabbed her hand. "Lily-" But she interrupted him. "What, Remus. You knew this all along? My home is gone and there is nobody to build it back up. You know why? Because their all dead. And im here in a capitol vehicle." Nobody answered. Lily broke down. Her mother, her sister, her teacher, everyone she ever knew. She felt a small hand laying softly on her shoulder. It was a girl. She had an afro and tears slipped down her cheeks. Her clothes were ripped and dirty.
"Im Mary, Mary Macdonald. From district eleven." Lily stared at her. Why was she here and why am i here? Lily thought to herself. "When this is over, I will help rebuild your home." Lily choked out another sob. Why was she so sad? District twelve was ment to be hell. It was ment to be a torture to live in. But she found herself calling it her home. "Frank Longbottom, district eight." A boy said standing off to the side. He looked a bit shoken up too. "Im sorry that happened Lily" He told her. he looked into her eyes and lily could see that he ment it. "Lily, none of these people are for the capitol, were all here for a revolution." Remus grabbed her by her shoulders.
Remus had tears in the corners of his eyes too, it was his home too. Their shared home. Was gone, their safe space gone. Their tree? Gone. "Marlene Mckinnon district one." A blonde girl said. She looked edgy. "When all this is over we will all" She stopped and slapped the black haired boy on the head. "Help rebuild district twelve." Another black haired boy walked into the room. His eyes widened at the sight of Lily. He looked a lot like the other boy, but his hair was shorter. "Your the girl Snape told us about." He said. He kept staring at Lily like he almost didn't believe she really existed.
"Oh my god." A pretty blond girl said who came to stand next to the other boy. "What did he say?" Lily asked them. They exchanged a look. "Let's not talk about capitol rats." Frank spat. Some people gave him looks, mainly the wealthy looking people. "He said you were his best friend, but he said he didn't have time for people like you." The black haired boy said. "Im Regulus Black." He finished. Remus put his hand on Lily's shoulder. They all gave her concerning looks. But Lily had had enough of dwelling on him, he wasn't worth her time either. "He wasn't my friend since the moment he left me in district twelve." She said clearly and loudly.
Some of them looked shocked at her reaction but Remus only chuckled. Then the brown haired boy stepped towards her. "James Potter! Im sorry about earlier."He gave a sheepish smile. Lily shook his hand. His glasses were dirty and crooked she realized. "That's Sirius Black I also apologize for him." He told Lily. Lily liked James already, he had the right manners. "That's Peter Pettigrew." he motioned towards a chubby boy. He had dirty blonde hair and was pretty short. "Pandora Rosier," the blonde girl gave a small wave. She had a weird style but it did suit her.
"Welcome to the marauders!" Marauders? What's that? Lily asked herself. Remus picked up on her confusion and explained, "that's the name for this group." Lily nodded slowly in understanding. Weird name but she wasn't one to judge. "Please tell me embarrassing story's about Remus!" James pleaded. Lily laughed at that while Remus turned red in the face. She promised him she would tell some another day and he seemed satisfied with that answer.
Lily wasn't sure to make out of all of this. What even was their plan? They didn't have as close as enough people to defeat the capitol. Surely they had a plan she reassured herself. That night she laid side by side with Remus. Lily listened to his breathing and tried to follow it. They both couldn't sleep. In that moment Lily would have liked to see the stars. She would have liked to go back with remus and trace them for hours on end. Maybe in another universe they could.
