coming back

Lily sat on their run down couch. Petunia sat next to her. They were staring at their tv. There were only three tributes left. Severus, a girl from district six and a boy from district two. Severus had changed a lot since Lily had last seen him. He was growing even more skinny than he already was. He had large eye bags under his eyes. His hair was greasy and he was very dirty. He was hiding behind a tree it seemed. The girl from district six was slowly walking towards his hiding spot. Lily just prayed he knew she was coming. He was breathing heavily. In the hunger games he had fought with his small pocket knife, Lily remembers the day he had gotten it. It was his eleventh birthday and he had proudly shown Lily his birthday gift. It was the small pocket knife, it was nothing special but still cool.

When the girl attacked Severus jumped to the other side. He rolled over and stabbed the girl with that very pocket knife. Lily felt like she needed to puke. She had never expected to see Severus doing these things but she knew it was all to survive. The girl stared at her stomach and then fel to the ground. Blood poured from her mouth. Severus pulled out his pocket knife and flipped it back in. He ran out of the open spot back into the forest. The screen flipped to the other tribute, the boy was sleeping in a cave. Then we saw Severus sleeping up in a tree. His stuff was secured next to him on a branch.

Petunia grabbed Lily's hand. "Come on, we'll resume in the morning nothings going to happen when they both are asleep." Lily nodded and followed her to their beds. Their mom was already sleeping softly. Lily and Petunia shared a bed but they didn't mind at all.

When they lay in bed facing each other Petunia whispered. "He's gonna make it." Lily stared at her with pleading green eyes. She wanted more than anything for Severus to be home. She wanted to have the feeling he was only a few streets away. She nodded slowly. Severus was strong, maybe even too strong. He could make it, just one more person and he would be free. Just a few more days and she could give him a big hug. They could walk to school together and he could learn her how to hunt again. She smiled at that thought. "Good night." Petunia whispered. "Night," Lily answered. Petunia turned her back towards Lily.

Lily turned to stare at the celling. He will come back. She repeatedly told herself. Maybe then they could have a good meal, as a celebration. She softly closed her eyes shut. The image of Severus killing the girl out of district six flashed through her mind. She shook her head, she didn't want to see that again. Eventually she fell asleep.

She dreamed about her and Sev. They were sitting on a swing. The sun was going down in the distance and it was a nice view. There were sunflowers scattered everywhere. Birds chirped happily in the background. Lily turned her head to the left and saw Severus smiling at her. She could feel herself smiling back at him. He looked a lot healthier. He wasn't as skinny and his face was washed. "You're my best friend Lily." He told her. She beamed at him. "You're my best friend too sev!" She exclaimed happily.

the dream ended just as fast as it came.
