As the buzzed students slowly filtered out of the gryffindor common room,that was now getting increasingly emptier,The marauders and the girls lounged around,some laying on the floor,some sat talking amongst themselves,Peter had even managed to fall asleep."Guyssss" Sirius complained from where he was slumped on the large red couch,he had been complaining that he was bored for 5 minutes straight so far."I know.Let's play a game" Marlene piped up,she was layed on the floor,her head resting on Dorcas' legs."Yes! McKinnon you genius! circle up everybody" Sirius yelled excitedly,slapping a hand on James' stomach,because Sirius being Sirius,had seen James layed out on the couch and jumped on him,sprawling himself out so he sat on James' legs.James groaned before laughing and shoving Sirius to stand up."Get off.You're heavy" Sirius flipped his bestfriend off before sitting down beside Remus."Hi Moony" Sirius' face split into a grin as he looked over at his boyfriend "Hi Sirius" Remus replied with a playful eye roll."Okay.Truth or Dare?" Lily questioned and everyone in the circle voiced their complaints that they always played that."Oh! Wait" Marlene gasped,standing up and stumbling forwards before catching her balance and giggling as she bolted up the stairs to the girls dormitories.
Marlene came back 2 minutes later with a small vile in her hand a clear,water looking liquid filling it."Okay.A game of Truth or dare? but with a veritaserum twist on the truths?" Marlene proposed with a smirk on her face."Who's going first?" she asked,her eyes flicking across around everyones faces."Pfft Babies" Lily scoffed when nobody answered,before reaching her hand out "thats the spirit,lils!" Marlene grinned,handing the vile over and watching as she took a sip.
A few people took their turns,Remus had been asked why he had disappeared early from Saturday's hogsmeade trip right after Sirius excused himself to "go to bed early because he was sick" and Remus began to give them a rather detailed description of his conversation with Sirius and how he "was going to-" then he was cut off by Sirius' hand pressed against his mouth."That...is private" Sirius had turned a brilliant shade of pink as everyone laughed,His hand flying away from Remus' mouth when Remus poked his tongue out against Sirius' hand.Dorcas was asked who her bestfriend and she very sweetly replied "Well of course marls,or maybe Pandora.I love pandora isn't she just so sweet.Or my little Reggie,Definitly not Barty but Evan is a possibility"
The group was now in fits of giggles after Marlene had been dared to slide down the staircase while James placed his foot on it to make the stairs close into a slide because "Come on McKinnon,Everyone knows the stairs turn into a slide when a boy tries to go up" according to Sirius however the funny thing was that as Marlene stood at the top,not touching the stairs,only James foot placed on the steps,it remained a slide but as soon as she sat down on the top,the stairs returned and marlene slid down them,giggling as James grabbed her hand,pulling her off of the floor.
"Come on,prongsy.Your turn,my friend" Sirius chirped and James beamed,his cheeks were now flushed slightly pink from the alcohol against his tanned skin.He decided on a truth since he had already completed a dare,being that he had to down 4 shots of fire whiskey in 20 seconds which he completed like a champion."Oh! i have one for James" Marlene put her hand in the air and James giggled at her,taking a sip of the veritaserum lily handed him before waiting for what she was about to say."A few of us have noticed how you are no longer head over heels for Miss Evans,over here" She gestured to Lily who raised her eyebrows at James,seemingly also interested in the question."So what we want to know is are you still in love with Lily Evans?" Mary asked,clarifying the question."No" James answered straight away before looking at Lily with a small smile "Sorry Lils" he shrugged "Interesting,Why aren't you in love with her anymore then,James?" Marlene asked and James just shrugged "I'm seeing someone" he replied calmly,looking between Marlene and Lily."WHAT? And you didn't tell us?!" Sirius yelled,his jaw dropped open as he peered around Remus to look at James."No.Not yet.He said he needed some time so we were just waiting" James answered,the words just falling out of his mouth.Fuck.He knew he was saying too much,before long he'd be blurting out that he was hopelessly in love with his bestfriends younger brother."So your seeing some mystery boy and don't even mention it once?!" Sirius placed a dramtic hand on his chest,staring at james in fake betrayal.
"I didn't tell YOU,no." James shook his head,emphasising the 'You' which let on a lot more than he wanted to.They had to stop asking him questions or he really would let it slip."What do you mean? who knows?" Sirius asked yet another question and at this point James couldn't stop the answers from tumbling out his mouth."Moony,certainly knows" James nodded before scanning his eyes around the circle "No one else" He added and Sirius whipped his head around to look at Remus who had suddenly found his nails very interesting as he picked at them,head hanging down."Moony! you know? who is it?!" Luckily,this question was not directed at James who watched as Remus told him it wasn't his secret to tell.That's when Sirius pursed his lips,slowly leaning to look James in the eye."Sirius" James warned but Sirius only gave him a beaming grin,tilting his head to the side."Prongs" "Nuh uh" James shook his head.He knew exactly what was coming and he knew the moment Sirius asked,the answer would fly out of his mouth straight into Sirius' hand."James" Sirius smiled as James scrunched his eyes shut,bracing himself for the question.James dropped his head back,groaning before lifting his head to look at Sirius.As if that one look brought all of the words to his mind,James tried his very best to jumble them and come out with something different,avoiding the question he was about to be asked which absolutely didn't work in the way he had hoped."Sirius you can't ask me that question because if i tell you Regulus will kill me and then- oh." he stopped,his eyes growing wide as he gave Sirius a sheepish smile.
You could see the moment the words sank into Sirius' brain."James?" Sirius spoke,a smile no longer on his face.James rubbed a hand over his face,sighing before looking at Sirius,trying to put a smile on his face."James.Is this mystery boy,my brother?" Sirius asked and the Yes was out of James' mouth before he could even blink.James froze,his eyes locked on Sirius who let his jaw drop open slightly.Though what James was not expecting was for Sirius to stand up and leave the common room without another word."Oh fuck" James whispered before standing up.
The next few minutes were chaos.James was blabbering about how Regulus was going to quite literally kill him,while Remus was trying to reassure him that it would be alright.Marlene however,was gushing over the fact that James and Regulus were together."How long?!" Marlene asked,excitedly."8 months" James answered instantly before groaning in frustration."Someone give me the cure before i get myself in even more trouble" James yelled earning a few huffed laughs.And after learning that they hadn't got the cure and that it should wear off in about another 10 minutes,James accepted his fate,grabbing the bottle of firewhiskey."is it hot in here? i need a drink.God,what if he just straight up punches me?" James was rambling,taking mouthfulls of firewhiskey.It wasn't until James had almost splashed it everywhere while gesturing wildly with his hands that Remus took the bottle out of James' hands,claiming he's "had quite enough now"
James flopped down on the couch,laying down with one arm crossed over his stomach,the other hanging off of the couch.When Sirius returned,James was still layed on the couch,Mary stroking his hair as he spoke nervously and very loudly to Lily about "what if Sirius hates me? or Reg? i can't lose either of them! oh fuck me,i hate my life" James had took to panicking and being rather dramtic about the situation but the group couldn't really blame him with the amount of alcohol in his system along with the veritaserm still left over.James turned his head to follow everyone's gaze,to see Sirius stood,hang wrapped around his brother's bicep."If you don't let go of me in the next two seconds,Sirius.I will break your fingers" Sirius thankfully made the wise decision of releasing his arm.James gasped,clearly forgetting about his recent troubles as he stood up off of the couch,stumbling slightly,knocking into Remus who steadied him with a hand on his arm."Reggie!" James yelled,jogging forwards to wrap his arms around a very confused Regulus' waist,lifting him off of the floor in a hug.Regulus frowned,wrapped his arms around James' neck as James put him down.Regulus dropped his arms,looking at the groups faces before looking back at James,one hand resting on his chest."Uh,hi James...are you okay?" Regulus asked,a confused look on his face and James nodded,a bright smile on his face."Ahem" Sirius dramatically cleared his throat before raising his eyebrows at the pair."Ohhhhh,right" james winced before looking back at Regulus,his hands coming up to rest of each of his biceps."I am so sorry" James spoke with a shy smile.
Regulus frowned and turned to look at his brother,who was still stood,eyebrows raised and his hands crossed over his chest."whats going on?" Regulus asked,frowning at his brother who huffed a laugh."Well,we were playing a harmless game of truth or dare...with a veritaserum twist and Jamie here,says he's seeing someone" Sirius spoke up "After a few questions he let up that it was you" Sirius gestured a hand to Regulus,clearly expecting for him to start explaining it all."I'm so sorry Reg.I tried so hard not to say it but i couldn't help it,i promise i didn't mean to,it's just they all hassled me with questions and the answers were just flying out of my mouth and-" James spoke fast,almost too fast as he looked at Regulus with big sorry eyes."It's alright" Regulus whispered,a soft smile on his face as he placed a hand on James' cheek.He turned around,dropping his hand from James' face,he now stood slightly infront of James and was facing his brother who stood arms length away from him."So? what do you want me to say?" Regulus shrugged "How long?" Sirius asked and Regulus rolled his eyes."8 months" he replied,folding his arms together across his chest."Jesus.8 months.Were you going to tell me?" Sirius asked,looking only at his brother and James."i promise i was going to tell you pads! i've wanted to tell you forever.Please don't be mad at me" James breathed out,fidgeting with his hands as he looked desperately at Sirius."Listen,i don't- as much as it kind of wierds me out for a second,i'm not- i'm happy for you both" Sirius spoke and Regulus let his guard down slightly,looking surprised."What? You- Really?" Sirius nodded and Regulus sighed slightly,in relief."I'm sorry we didn't tell you,pads" James spoke up,still fidgeting nervously with his fingers as he offered sirius a small smile."Oh come here,you big sap" James gladly accepted the hug,a bright smile back on his face.
When Sirius pulled away,he kept his hands on his shoulders,looking up a him,because yes james is 6'2 and Sirius stands at 5'10 maximum."On that note,If you hurt my brother i will hex you into next year.Got it?" Sirius asked and the colour drained from James' face slightly."No,he won't" Regulus rolled his eyes "I will.But...i trust that you won't hurt him.I can see how much you care about eachother" Sirius looked between the two."Of course i won't hurt him! i promise pads.I love him more than anything" James nodded and Regulus smiled slightly."It's true,i love him too" Regulus confirmed with a shy smile."Oh,Reggie" Sirius breathed before pulling his brother into a hug,catching Regulus slightly off guard.
"Marlene? what the fuck?" Sirius breathed out and Regulus turned around out of the hug,letting out a chuckle at the sight.Marlene stood with James,she had given him a fresh drink of firewhiskey and was asking him all kinds of questions.Luckily for Regulus the veritaserum had proven to have ran out and James was just drunkenly staring at Marlene.James let out a barking laugh at something Marlene had said before stumbling backwards slightly,gripping onto Marlene's arm before the two burst out laughing again.
"Okay,Jamie i think you've had quite enough to drink for tonight,don't you?" Regulus spoke softly as he stepped forwards and gently took the glass from James' hand."Mhm Sure,love" James nodded along,though he was clearly not listening because he just stared back at Regulus,a soft smile on his face as Regulus placed the drink down.Regulus sighed,smiling softly at James who giggled drunkenly. "what are we going to do with you" Regulus spoke gently,rolling his eyes as he brushed James' hair off of his face.James of course didn't reply,he seemed to be pretty occupied staring at Regulus with so much love that Regulus wasn't sure how he had managed to stay focused for so long.
"I don't think i've ever seen Reg look so...soft? gentle? kind?" Sirius announced and everyone laughed along as regulus turned around,glaring at his brother."Yes,well atleast James and I had the balls to admit what we feel for eachother...It seems that,some of us haven't quite managed to do so yet" Regulus crossed his arms,staring straight at his brother with a smirk,Sirius was stood with Remus beside him,his mouth dropped open as he attempted to protest but all that came out was "I- You- Uh No- Well- Reggie!" The group laughed at a stuttering Sirius and Regulus smiled at Remus who had turned a deep pink,looking down at his shoes,a small smile gracing his face.
"Hey Reg?" James' voice broke through everyone's laughter and the group looked over at him."Yeah?" Regulus replied a smile on his face as he turned around to look at his boyfriend who stood with his hands by his sides,his eyes wide.Regulus' smile dropped and he furrowed his brows together,taking a step towards James."What's up?" Regulus asked,a hand on James' arm."I think i'm going to be sick" James slurred,closing his eyes tightly.
The next few minutes were chaos.The whole group rushed James up to his dorm Sirius and Regulus holding James up while Sirius practically begged him not to be sick until they got there and James nodding along looking horribly pale.Remus opened the door to the dorm before pulling the bathroom door open,allowing Regulus to pull James into the bathroom just in time.Regulus rubbed his hand in circles across James' back as he sat infront of the toilet,his head resting on his arm.They waited a few minutes until James said he was done and Regulus gently wiped the older boys forehead with his hand.
Regulus was sat with his back against the wall beside the toilet,as James sat infront of him.James lifted himself up slightly and turned so he could lay inbetween Reguilus' legs,his back against his boyfriends chest."I am never playing your stupid games again Marlene" James grumbled,his eyes shut,head resting back onto Regulus' chest.Marlene barked a laugh and James winced at the sudden change in volume,making everyone chuckle quietly."James babe,you can't stay here all night.Let's get you into your bed" Lily spoke with a small laugh.Regulus had learnt over the last few months that James loved his friends immensely,including lily,so the nicknames that they all often called eachother didn't bother him in the slightest.Everyone watched as James nodded,his eyes closed as Regulus gently ran his fingers through his hair and Lily turned to Remus and Sirius."By 'lets get you to bed' i mean get him to bed" Lily spoke,gently shoving Remus forwards "James is a 6'2 boy,who plays quidditch and works out everyday,there is no way in hell any of us can carry him to his bed so,chop chop get to work" Lily spoke,gesturing to the girls who stood with her in the doorway and Remus huffed,walking towards James and Regulus."Come on James,mate" Remus started but he was cut of by James who groaned loudly "Leave me alone,Moony.I'm comfy" James whined,crossed his arms over his chest,turning his head away from Remus who stood over them "James.I love you but there's no way i am sleeping on your dirty bathroom floor so either let Remus help you or i will leave you on the floor and go sleep in your bed" Regulus spoke and James opened his eyes,huffing as he looked at Remus."So mean to me" James grumbled,lifting his arm up to gesture for Remus to help him.Sirius grabbed James' arm pulling him off of the floor so Remus could pick him up "Merlin's balls,James.Never say we don't love you" Remus groaned and James nodded,his eyes closed.
Remus dropped James gently onto his bed,standing up again and joining the group who stood together near the door.They said their goodbyes and Marlene,Lily,Mary and Dorcas left,making their way to their dorms.Sirius closed the door and let out a breath,looking over at James who was asleep in his bed,sparwled out ontop of the covers,his curtains still open."You staying here?" Sirius asked as he peered into the bathroom at Regulus who was looking in one of the cupboards.Regulus nodded and held up a face wash "This yours?" he asked and Sirius nodded,allowing him to use it.
Regulus washed him face with Sirius' face wash before brushing his teeth using a spare toothbrush Sirius gave him,he made his way over to James' bed and rolled his eyes,a fond smile on his face."James...Jamie,wake up" He whispered,gently brushing his thumb across James' cheek.James peeled his eyes open,smiling softly at Regulus."You gotta get your clothes off,you can't sleep in Jeans and your quidditch jersey" Regulus spoke quietly,gently opening James' trunk.James pulled himself to sit up,dropping his head to look down,eyes closed again.He pushed himself to stand up,Regulus steadying him as he did so.James pulled his shirt and Jeans off,leaving him in his boxers while Regulus pulled a hoodie out of James' trunk.James threw his clothes onto the floor by his trunk deciding that he'd sort them tomorrow and Regulus slipped into the bathroom.James followed after Regulus,brushing his teeth while Regulus took off his jeans and tshirt,pulling James' red quidditch hoodie on .
James washed his face before joining Regulus in his bed,He pulled the curtain back and slipped under the covers beside him.James sighed and Regulus smiled softly,opening his arms so James could lay with his head in the crook of Regulus' neck,his arms draped around Regulus waist."I love you,Reg" James whispered and Regulus placed a soft kiss into James' hair.
