So You RICH Rich

Diagon Alley is big.

I mean, Aries had mentioned it was a magical shopping district, but he didn’t expect so much to be in one alley.

It was about a week later since his turning. Now that they were feeling better and Harry didn’t feel like every too loud noise would split his head open, they decided to go to Diagon Alley to get Harry some essentials. He left with nothing but the shoes and clothes on his back when he was kicked out. He doesn’t even have a toothbrush to his name and was currently wearing some of Aries’ old clothes. The older boy insisted as the Heir to the House of Potter (whatever that means) he needs proper clothing.

Aries had told him about the demise of his parents during the second day of his stay once they had both slept for about 12 hours. He thinks he took it pretty well (ignoring the fact he cried into Aries’ shoulder after breaking a few glasses on the coffee table with what Aries called accidental Magic. But can you blame him? His Aunt and Uncle slandered the memories of his hero parents! Not even the names of them as they never deigned to tell Harry their names were Lily and James).

"We're gonna go to Gringotts first. It's a wizarding bank run by a different race called goblins. Remember to be respectful to them. Us magical creatures got to stick together and all that. And because they hold all of our money so, it'd do you well to be polite." Aries said, his face the most serious Harry had seen it. So he nodded before his brain caught on a word Aries had said.

"Creatures?" Harry tilted his head to the side with the question. It had taken him about half a day before he started asking Aries more questions when he knew the boy wouldn’t lash out at him.

He still expected some annoyance at all his questions but Aries’ face just softened as he gave Harry a sad smile.

"Yeah. In the wizarding world, werewolves,, centaurs, acromantula, unicorns, they're all called magical creatures. Whether they're of a human brain like veela and vampires or actual animals like dragons and thestrals. We are considered something called dark creatures. People don't tend to like us that much because of that and many preconceived notions fed to them. Don't worry, I'll get you some books on the wizarding world. I'm shitty at explanations." Aries said as he ruffled Harry's hair making it even messier until Harry snapped his teeth at his hand on instinct but with no actual intent of harm.

A playful bite his mind supplied but he ignored this as he froze at the realization of what he just did.

'Oh my god he's gonna wanna get rid of me now isn't he?! That was so stupid why did I-'

His thoughts were almost immediately cut off by a loud cackle that had a few heads turning as Aries laughed at Harry's reaction and put him into a playful head lock as the two started a gentle game of wrestling.

Harry immediately sighed in relief and smiled a bit as he played along for a moment before they eventually stopped and kept walking.

"And, we're here!" Harry's jaw dropped so fast he felt it click a bit.

He hadn't been paying close attention to what was in front of him so he'd only seen Gringotts out of the corner of his eye but it is huge!

When they got to the door Harry felt it'd seem a bit rude if he didn't greet the goblins in some way so he bowed back to them. They seemed pretty surprised oddly enough but after a moment they just straightened and opened the doors.

Harry bowed to a few other goblins that he assumed were guards and they did the same thing as the other two before they approached one of the tellers.

"Helloo....Axecut." Aries said after taking a moment to locate the goblin's name plate.

"I have recently came into custody of Mr. Harry Potter who, until about a week ago, wasn't aware of the magical world despite reassurances that had been made by Chief Warlock Dumbledore that he did. Can we please see his account manager?" The goblin apparently known as Axecut quickly snapped his head up in shock at the mention of his name and his eyes widened slightly at what Aries. He yelled something in a language Harry didn’t recognize before another goblin ran up to them, quickly leading them to a different set of doors down a hallway.

They finally stopped at a door with the name plaque "Griphook" and knocked, waiting only a few seconds before a gravely voice called "enter."

Griphook seems like one of the older goblins, with his thin white wisps of hair and his glasses that rest on the tip of his pointy nose, and he honestly just looks tired of everything and everyone. But he also looks very wise.

"Ah, Mr. Potter. I was wondering when I would see you. Maybe that damned wizarding ministry will finally listen to me about my concerns about you not receiving your mail when they hear about this. We've gotten a few responses from your magical guardian before but never an actual response from you. And now we know why." Griphook snarled a bit as he said magical guardian and Harry could feel his curiosity rising but he decided to stay silent for now. Aries would probably answer any of his questions later.

"Right then, you will be doing an inheritance test, am I correct?" He asks, eyes flickering from Harry to Aries in question seeing as he's assumingely the boys guardian now.

"Yes. He didn't know about the wizarding world till about a week ago Sir Griphook." Griphook then glared at Aries making Harry want to run away. But still, he stayed put, his only sign of discomfort being the tightening of his hand on Aries’. The older boy just gave him a reassuring squeeze but didn’t look away from the angry goblin.

"A week? He’s years behind the training and knowledge he needs to properly manage his heirships. You should’ve brought him in sooner Heir Lestrange! I swear if that wixen ministry did their damn job maybe my client wouldn't have fallen through the cracks in their system so easily..." The goblin grumbled the last part more to himself than the two boys.

Then Harry realized with a jolt, he wasn't mad at Harry at all. He was being defensive of him! If anything he was mad at Aries or this Dumbledore fellow but apparently not Harry.

Well that's new.

Aries wasn't deterred though and just calmly, if not a bit vaguely, answered him.

"Events came up." Griphook’s eyes narrowed before they widened in understanding as he sent a sympathetic look to Harry. Then his face went back to it’s usual blank, slightly tired, professional expression.

Apparently the goblins already know about both of their little...afflictions.

"Alright, fair enough. I assume you both have taken care to properly recover before coming here?” They both nodded. They were both feeling much better and Griphook could see it in their faces. He nodded before continuing.

”The inheritance test, in simplest words, just lets us see who you are Mr. Potter. What families you're heir to and what vaults you have, those kind of things. You have to cut your palm or thumb and let at least 7 drops fall onto this parchment. This specific kind of parchment is specifically charmed to write down information about whoever's blood is on it. There's some books that go more into it or blood magic in general in Knockturn Alley if you're interested." He added the last part when he saw the sparkles in Harry's eyes. Harry blushed at being caught and looked at his ratty converse shoes while Aries chuckled.

"We should also get you a health scan as well as is protocol with the muggle raised to make sure they get all their magical and muggle vaccinations on time. Though, it's obvious no one has followed this protocol with you. Those are painless though, only a slight tingle from my magic when it scans over you." He reassured Harry who looked a bit queasy at the thought of spilling more blood or possibly doing something even more painful for his results. He's already not looking forward to the inheritance test.

He's found out his sense of smell is overwhelmingly strong now. Even compared to Aries' apparently, though he reassures him it'll probably go away with time since it's most likely due to him being a new werewolf. He can only hope the older boy is right.

He's already thrown up a few times in the last week, purely because of smells alone and he'd rather not do it again in this very nice office. And of course, blood he’s found just so happens to be one of the smells that triggers his gag reflex the most.

When he had got a little cut from cutting up some vegetables a few days ago — even though Aries insisted he could just cook dinner himself, Harry had wanted to feel useful — he'd immediately smelled a bit of the metallic smell and it made him feel extremely nauseous. It reminded of the subtle smell that always permeated his old room from Uncle Vernon’s punishments. Only it was about 10x stronger.

That was not a fun night spent with his head in a toilet.

He quickly cut his thumb while holding his breath then only breathed again when the blood turned into ink. Luckily, paper did not smell nearly as strong as Harry expected. Really it barely smelled at all. He watched in fascination as his finger was healed before looking back at the information printing on the paper.

Harry — or maybe he'll try out Harrison? — was confused about several things.

Since when did he have two dads? And how??? Who are most of these people? What's a magical surrogacy? He gave the test to Aries who turned worryingly pale as he read, which was shocking considering how pale he already was, before he handed the test back to Griphook.

The goblin's eyes widened slightly in surprise as he read before they narrowed and turned more stony towards the end. Harry backed up to be more behind Aries, barely keeping in a whine that his wolf so desperately wanted to let out in fear at the predator in front of him, before he turned his attention to Aries as he spoke.

"Could he be emancipated? I sure as hell can't adopt him as an underage wizard and werewolf but I'd rather not risk someone like Lucius Malfoy trying to get custody of him while he's staying in an apartment currently paid for by him." Aries asked with a reassuring hand on Harry's shoulder that started to rub his back after a moment making him almost melt at the positive physical contact.

He can't even remember the last time he'd felt non-painful contact from another person other than the little touches Aries has given him over the last week or so as they got more comfortable around each other.

It's quite nice.

Aries made a mental note to give him more hair ruffles or subtle contact than he has been because the little cub is obviously very touch starved.

Griphook composed himself once he saw how the young werewolf reacted before he answered. He didn't want to scare his young client after all. Word had spread the little wizard was a highly respectful boy and he himself was growing rather fond of him. Not like he'd ever admit that though.

"Yes. Him taking his Lordships on July 31st will immediately emancipate him. Though, he won't be able to take his Wizengamaot seats until he's at least 14 so he'll have to name a proxy he trusts. I would say no rush but since Albus Dumbledore is currently manning the seats I'd say there is quite a need for rush." He gave Aries a significant look and the older werewolf growled at the mention of the man and Harry wasn't too far behind.

He didn't like this Dumb-door guy at all so far, or whatever the hell his name is. Just from the man paying the Dursleys alone he could tell he was a bad guy. Anyone who helped the Dursleys was bad in his book.

"Once he's emancipated, he'll formerly declare his proxy so Dumbledore won't have any claim over his seats and you can finally have all ties cut with the man besides his title as both of your headmaster this coming September. Then, Mr. Potter-Black should be fine to live with you or really anywhere he pleases. For now though, since he's not 11 yet, you should try to keep his whereabouts under wraps so Lord Malfoy or Mr. Dumbledore won't be a problem." Aries nods seriously while Harry just looks at the two, a bit confused and concerned before he just decided to trust Aries knew what he was doing and would explain later. As the two started discussing more about his accounts, he started looking around the office a bit in interest to wait until they were done.

Aries hadn't led him in the wrong direction so far. He knows he can trust him at least. Which is more than he could say about anyone he's known before so he knew it'd be hard to trust him but he was gonna try, starting now.

"What worries me most is these mystery spells and the block place on the child. The fact they're unknown incantations makes them even more dangerous to reverse, especially if they're not even ministry documented. And the block could cause an extremely violent burst of accidental Magic depending how long he's had it when it’s removed. Only Hecate knows what the block would’ve done to him if it stayed until his magical maturity. Core blocks aren't harmful if they're just used for a year or two for young children who've demonstrated dangerous accidental Magic, but this block has been on him for almost a decade. It's best we get them removed before they can cause any more harm." Griphook then barked out something in the strange language from earlier and a few other goblins came in and started trying to lead Harry away but he just clinged to Aries tighter, whining loudly, a sound he's never remotely made before. He almost sounded like a wounded dog like Aries did that night he bit him.

"It's alright kid." Aries tried to console him enough to follow them but he just continued holding him surprisingly tight and Aries didn't want to pry the kid off of him full strength while he’s so distressed and risk hurting him. That wouldn't turn out very well. He’d never get the kid to trust him ever again.

"Can I go with him? He's still new to all of this and he's probably very overwhelmed." The goblins exchanged looks before nodding, sympathy showing visibly in some of their eyes while others showed it more subtly by giving Harry space and allowing him to move at his own pace.

They all walked down to the healing chambers and turned around when Harry had to change into the healing gown. Some of the goblins didn't see the point but Harry kept insisting, bright red with embarrassment, so they eventually obliged, Aries snickering the whole time at what Harry would rather indignantly claim wasn’t a pout. (It totally was.)

Harry got up onto the metal surgical like table as instructed and a goblin came up to him to do a full medical history scan on him. The goblin winced a bit at the results and refused to show Aries them for the time being. If the older wolf is calm, the wolf cub will be calm. And they need him calm for this ritual to work or his magic may lash out to protect him.

Aries had to move back from where he’d been holding Harry’s hand to let the goblins cast a ward around the table but he moved right back beside him as soon as it was cast. It was just a precautionary ward in case the boys magic lashes out once the block is taken off and it won’t activate until then. Aries was allowed to stay with him until things got dangerous, but after that he’d be forced behind the ward as it activates.

And Aries intended to do just that. He wasn’t letting the kid face anything alone while he could do something about it. So until this ward forced him out he was staying.

The goblins stepped away for a moment and took some time to all properly look over the medical results before they discussed a plan to both heal and cleanse Harry. Once done they walked over and formed a spread out circle with gaps between each of them and they started chanting in a mix of Latin and gobbledegook.

Harry's hand tightened around his, again, surprisingly tight for someone of his size, before Aries was forced to let go and stay outside of the wards as Harry's Magic started crackling like electricity on his palm, stinging him slightly. He pressed a hand against the ward as he stared intently into the circle, waiting for the moment he’d be allowed back in.

The chanting got louder and Harry's discomfort was even more visible as he curled up a bit, as if trying to hide from whatever was causing him pain. (Which just fueled Aries want to hunt down the muggles he knew hurt him. He could find them easily just with his sense of smell.) His magic started visibly crackling around in the wards, looking like multi-colored lightning.

As the chanting and Harry's pain came to its peak he let out a loud scream that had Aries covering his sensitive ears and suddenly, a tar like material started coming out of Harry scar, which the goblins expected from their in depth health scan but Aries most certainly did not.

”What the hell is that?! What are you doing to him?!” He demanded, but he got no answer.

After a moment though it all turned to smoke and quickly moved out of the ward like it was trying to escape only for one of the goblins to vacuum it into a magic container. Then everything was suddenly very silent.

Harry was now barely conscious, breathing heavily and looking around with half lidded eyes. The goblins did one last wave of their hands to release the glamour and Aries gaped at Harry's new appearance once the glamour was dropped. The Black features seemed to be strong in his cousin.

His hair was still a mess and his skin darker than the usual ghost pale of the Blacks, but that’s where the Potter genes seemed to stop. The rest, besides maybe his nose that Aries thinks he must’ve gotten from Lily Potter — Lily Evans? — was all Black. Well, except for the odd white streak he had in his hair that sat over his scar.

It was then Aries also noticed his scar had changed as well, looking more realistically like lightning and a lot more gruesome than the little cartoon scar he had before. Now it cut into his eyebrow and down to his eyelid before it stopped. Aries was just thankful the killing curse hadn't half blinded him.

He wasn't too surprised that there were more brutal changes. Makes sense Dumbledore would want him picture friendly. Can't have his little savior looking "scary" in any way after all. No, that would imply he's dark, or “evil” as the man would paint the 10 year old.

He snorted at the irony. Dumbledore's golden boy, now a dark creature.

Harry’s eyes were the last change Aries noticed. As expected, they were the Black family’s famous steel grey eyes that almost seemed to glint like actual metal from where Harry was looking at him.

As Harry lost consciousness, he noticed a great weight had been lifted off his chest that he'd never noticed until now. He fell asleep knowing he's finally safe.
