The first task
“Don’t worry” he says to Potter while they wait for their turn inside the tent.
“I’m not worried, I got a plan” answers the fourteen years old kid about to face off against a Hungarian Horntail.
Cassius looks up, and onyx eyes meet green.
“I was talking about Weasley” he explains, returning his attention to the moving miniature in his hands.
He idly wonders if they’ll be allowed to keep them. He’d love to bring his home. He’d only have to keep it away from Zeus, but maybe his mother’s cat would finally meet someone (something? Does an animated object count as someone or something? he’ll have to ask Flitwick) who could keep up with him…
Before he can snort at the image of the miniscule dragon fighting with his mother’s golden cat, something else gets his attention.
“What about him?” And wow, Potter got defensive and angry in the two seconds Cassius spent thinking about home.
He even got tenser, something Cassius has to admire. He didn’t think that was possible.
He blinks slowly.
“I’m not threatening your friend. Love the fact that that is your first thought by the way” he says “I’m just saying, after he’ll see you have to fight dragons, he’ll understand you didn’t put your name in yourself.”
“You don’t think I did?” asks Potter, clearly shocked.
Cassius raises his eyebrows “That’s what you got from what I just said?”
Potter rolls his eyes “Ron’s not gonna forgive me”
“Wanna bet?”
Two hours later Cassius is in second place in the Triwizard Tournament and five Galleons richer.
He’s honestly just glad the golem trick worked.
