Barty never expected that text.
It wasn't some tragic news or anything.
Just...
Unknown : « do you remember me ? If not it's cool, just ignore it. »
It was from James Potter.
And of course Barty remembers him, he was the boy he always wanted but they never want farther than just a drunk kiss at a party, and James already had a girlfriend at the time.
He wanted to answer so much.
Sue him, he did.
Barty : « how could I forget you ! I've been looking for you since high school, but then Reg told me you got married and all that... »
He doesn't know why he told him all that, not like it wasn't true but James didn't need to know that.
And it's not like they'll see each other anytime soon, right ?
Barty never imagined James's answer, he didn't even expect him to respond at all.
But he did.
James : « it just means you didn't look hard enough ig ? if you had found me maybe you would have been the one I married maybe in another life or in another world. »
The next texts then wrote themselves. He couldn't register what he was writing. He was in too much of a shock.
Barty : « do you ever wanna meet up ? »
James : « to do what exactly Crouch ? »
Well, Barty didn't think that far and James's implications also caught him of guard, that didn't help.
Barty : « idk, just hang out ig ? »
James : « you know we shouldn't »
Well obviously.
James is being really suspicious right now, and he's acting like he's single.
He's literally married and soon with a kid.
But who's Barty to judge ? As long as he gets what he wants right ?
Barty : « what ? are u afraid you'll fall for me or sum ?»
James : « maybe...idk »
That was unexpected
Barty : « then let me see you again ! I'll show you way more than just words »
He didn't mean so be excited. And now he just sounded desperat.
Why was James so reluctant now ? He's the one who weirdly texted first ! Barty was just returning his energy ! For a moment Barty felt a bit bad for Lily, James's wife, she was a really nice girl in high school.
Nevermind James texted back.
James : « I'll text you if I change my mind »
Barty : « And if you actually do, I'll make you forget her »
Barty doesn't know why he got himself into but he kinda likes it.
