Note
Anyways, I've got to explain the like Cedric's age thingy 'cause when I first read the HP series I was CONFUSED.So, Cedric's ten in this story, going on eleven, as, in the GOF he was old enough to compete in the Triwizard tournament, despite him being established as a Fifth year in POA. So, the explanation is, his birthday arrives after the first of September. So he'd be in the same year as the twins despite him being an year older. Also, Percy's starting his second year, i.e, he's turning twelve on 22nd August. What's Cedric's birthday?Ask Percy.

It was a sweet summer day, the wind chattered through the leafy branches of the trees and it was just the perfect amount of warmth and the sky was a forget-me-not blue. It was just the amount of warmth Percy likes, even more so because his legs were being tickled by the grass underneath him as he talked to an eager boy named Cedric.

Cedric was to start his first year at Hogwarts next year, which was only the finest school for witchcraft and wizardry out there. Percy knows the look of eagerness he sees on Cedric’s face, because he too had one just a year ago. Cedric didn’t seem to be at all exhausted by the amount of questions he had already asked, and he’d planned on going on and on for as long as he could before his mum came and told him that it was time to go home.

Of Course, there would be the sweet good-byes to be said, and frankly Percy would miss Cedric. If you’d’ve asked him last year he would stare at you, as if he had no idea about what language you were speaking. Percy, at first thought Cedric was a bit annoying, and that he wouldn’t shut up because Percy really wanted to quietly sit down and read a book or just be there.

It changed, however, when one visit Cedric had snuggled up with Percy on the couch and insisted him to read an old book he’d brought or when his siblings once thought that Percy had gone mad when he laughed loudly until his ribs ached, his spine pained with the echoing laughter through his very flesh and his mouth hurt for being stretched so wide.

And somewhere along the months, he started to consider Cedric his friend. A very good one too, it’s a rather good thing that their fathers are somewhat friends, so Percy and Cedric don’t go a month without meeting each other because one way or the other they get an excuse to visit each other.

“I was thinking a few days ago that why do people get married, so, I asked my mum.” Cedric said to Percy who was picking on some yellow twigs of grass oddening an even green patch.

   “And, why do they?”

“She says it’s when you really like someone, so much that you can spend your whole life with them, you marry them.” Cedric explained, smiling at Percy, his eyes shining brighter than usual.

“Oh.” Was all Percy could manage, he’d wondered how it could ever be possible to like someone so much, he’d know his mum and dad’s love story and seriously speaking it made an awful Christmas tradition. It didn’t match too much what mum and dad said or at least what Percy understood from it but it wasn’t like Cedric was entirely wrong.

“Well, I think I already know who I want to marry.” Cedric continued his smiling brightening,  Percy’s curiosity peaked and he tilted his head in confusion, “Who?”

“You.”  Cedric said simply, as if it was the easiest thing to say.

The tip of Percy’s ears went ruby red, “W-what? Me?”

“Yes, you! You’re my best friend, and I really like you and I want to spend my whole life with you.”

   “I don’t think, you understa—”

But before Percy could say anything, came the voice of Mrs. Diggory, “Cedric, it’s time to go home, sweetheart!” who soon was again engaged in a conversation with a smiling Molly, who was trying to tut away the hens. Percy sighed, Oh well, maybe another day I would tell him that he’s not understanding the whole thing. He got up and helped Cedric up too, then helped Cedric brush the dirt off of his clothes.

“Bye-Bye, Percy.” Cedric said, walking away and looking back to wave at Percy and Percy waved back but much to Percy’s surprise Cedric hadn’t even crossed half of the path before he came waddling back towards Percy, with some great determination in his eyes.

“What?” Percy asked but Cedric did not utter a word, instead he took Percy’s hands in his and tip-toed to Percy’s height. Percy’s confusion didn’t remain too long because it was all cleared when Cedric pecked his cheek softly and for a moment looked at Percy with a sweet smile before scurrying away to his mother. Percy's hands, even though held nothing in them anymore, were still curled as if he was holding Cedric’s hand. He wasn’t even sure what happened for a moment, before his ears and nose started to turn red and he slowly reached for the cheek Cedric had kissed.

Percy stood dumbstruck, his mouth agape and a hand on his cheek with a scarlet glow across his face. Maybe not some other day. Hopefully never.
