Chapter 1

If a saviour falls in a forest and no one is around to hear him, does he make a sound?

Harry Potter wasn’t brave. He had never been. He’d been desperate, he’d survived, dodging Death's clutches more times than he could count. And Death was intrigued.

So when the Avada green light felled Harry, he was offered a choice. But this time, it wasn’t Dumbledore waiting, but Death. Harry stood, disbelieving as the entity appeared before him, not a man nor a woman, but something other. Something otherworldly. Death offered him a second chance, a chance to change his fate. He could, of course, return to his life then, or he could start over again. Save everyone he wasn't able to. Stop Voldemort before it was too late. So Harry chose to start anew. Death grinned and pointed with a hand made of shadows to a train. Harry boarded it. 

Somewhere along the way, he must have fallen asleep, because the next thing he knew he woke up in a body much smaller than the one he was used to.
