Soulmates

When you were 18 a mark and a date showed up on you. The mark looked like a large handprint and you weren’t sure what it was and asked your friends but no one knew.

None of your friends got a mark and whenever you stared at it two long you felt a strange longing in your heart. As if you were missing someone you have never met.

As the days ticked down till the date on the mark on your arm you study it some more.

Sooner than later you wake up and today is the day for whatever is going on.

“Today’s the day Jules.” You tell the phone as you’re walking into the coffee shop. You get inline behind a pair of tall red heads.

“Are you excited?”

“No I’m nervous like what if I die today.”

“You’re not going to die Y/n.” Jules says into your ear.

“How do you know that? You didn’t have a strange mark show up on your skin on your 18th birthday did you? That’s what I thought.” Jules sighs before saying she has to go and hangs up.

You order your coffee and hear your name called. Right as your reaching for your cup a large hand curls around right where your mark is.

“Sorry I was grabbing my…” he trails off looking at his hand which appears to be glowing on his fingers. He pulls away his hand and your hand mark on your arm is also glowing.

“George hurry up we still have more places to soulmate hunt.” The other red head says stopping and looking at the glow on both of us.

“Okay what the fuck.” You say at last looking at your arm where the mark is gone now. You grab your coffee and the other red head who must be George is looking at you.

“No need Fred I think I found her.”

“Found me? Were you looking for me? And where the hell did the mark on my arm go? And why was my arm glowing? And and-“ he cuts you off.

“Are you a muggle?” You look up at him so confused.

“Muggle? What’s a muggle?” He nods slowly like everything is making sense now.

“Come with me I can explain some things.”

“I don’t know you though.”

“Just please.” He says quietly and you sigh nodding. He grabs your hand and pulls you outside again.

“Please don’t kidnap me.” You say seriously slightly jogging to keep up with his long strides and the other twin is following behind.

“Kidnap?”

“Yeah you everyone knows what that is. Everyone aware of ‘don’t get in a car with a stranger’ at a young age.” You say turning to look at him.

“Not our family I guess.” He says pulling you forward towards what appears to be a hole in the wall coffee shop called the leaky cauldron.

“Hey George. Fred. Mystery lady.” The man behind the counter greets nodding at you guys.

“Good morning Tom.” They say together and finally the twin dragging you brings you to an empty table.

“Okay so let me start with my name is George Weasley and this is my brother Fred.” George says pointing to his twin.

“I’m Y/n. So what are you going to tell me about the mark on my arm and what are Muggles.”

George takes a breath and Fred walks away to another table. “Well to start there is a secret society of Wizards.”

You start laughing “Okay you’ve got jokes but seriously.”

He looks dead serious and you stop laughing. “Wait are you serious?”

“Very serious. And me and Fred are apart of a well known wizard family.”

“I don’t believe it.” You state crossing your arms. He pulls out a wand. “I like the props but what is going on.”

“Just watch.” He points his wand at your plate and it starts levitating.

You stare at it bewildered. “H-how are you doing that?”

“Like I said it’s magic. I’m a wizard. Now this might be a lot to take in but we have all the time in the world.”

You swallow slightly still shocked there’s an entire society you didn’t know of.

“Okay but what about the mark on my arm that is no longer there.” George smiles at this.

“All wizards and witches get a soulmate mark when they turn 18 unless their soulmate is younger than them. Mine showed up around a year after I turned 18 on September 5th.”

“Th-that’s my birthday.” You say shocked.

“I figured but anyway the mark is the place where your soulmate will touch you first. Many people have a brush in their arm or something similar. Mine was always covering three fingers and it had today’s date on it.”

“I-is the date on the make the day you meet your soulmate?”

“Now you get it pretty girl, but yes and whenever you touch your soulmate for the first time it will always be on the spot on the other person. Once you touch it then the mark will glow and disappear.”

“S-so we’re soulmates?” You ask rubbing your arm where it glowed subconsciously.

“Exactly.” He says and smiles gently at you.

“I-I’m sorry I need a moment. T-this is a lot.” You mutter taking a sip of your coffee which is slightly cold now.

“That’s okay it is a lot. It’s a whole new world you’ve been introduced too.”

You take a shaky breath closing your eyes and counting to ten. Maybe everything will make sense then. You open your eyes and George is staring at you concerned.

“O-okay so you’re my soulmate that I can come to terms with, but wizards?”

He grabs your hand gently pulling you to stand. “Let me show you something.” He says to you before turning to his twin whose name you can’t remember right now. “Fred I’m going to show Y/n around real fast you can go back to the shop.”

Fred nods and you follow after George. He takes you to a brick wall.

“This is a brick wall.” You state the obvious.

“Just watch.” He presses his wand to a brick and suddenly the wall is splitting open. Behind it is a ton of people dressed in robes and different colored scarves.

“What’s this place?” You ask curiosity getting the better of you.

“It’s called Diagon Alley. This is where all the witches and wizards shop before the head to Hogwarts.” He explains pulling you into the crowd.

“Hogwarts?”

“It’s the school that teaches us how to use our magic.”

“Most of the stores are the usual stuff like robes, wands, stationery, and brooms.”

“Do you guys fly on the brooms?” You ask excitedly.

“Yes we do.” He laughs seeing your excitement as if he was watching first years wander the halls of Hogwarts again. “There’s a sport called quidditch I’ll have to take you to one of the games. My younger brother Ron had a friend Harry and he is on the team as seeker.”

“What’s a seeker?”

“I’ll explain quidditch to you another time it is a way more complex thing.” George answers pulling you to a shop that is lighting up and has 3 big W’s on it.

“What’s this place?”

George smiles proudly at the store before turning to you. “This. This is me and Fred’s joke shop.”

You look up at in awe. “That’s so cool George. Can I see the inside?”

“Of course follow me you get backstage passes two because you know the owner.”

“You mean am soulmates with the owner.” He laughs at your words.

“Same thing sugar.” He smiles opening the door open to you even with the closed sign on it.

“I feel so special.” You tease looking around the shop that has joy radiating through everywhere even when no one’s in the store.

“You are special. You are one of ‘the most eligible bachelors’ soulmate.” George puts air quotes around the most eligible bachelors.

“Did you make that up.” You laugh and he smiles so brightly at you.

“No it was printed on the Quibbler. Along with Krum, but Fred already has Angelina so he didn’t make the cut.”

You shake your head smiling at his words. “Your store is super cool.”

Suddenly his twins pops up. “He can’t take all the credit for it.”

“Fred right? I’m Y/n.” You say sticking your hand out and he smiles at you.

“Pleasure to meet your acquaintance Y/n.” Fred says bowing and kissing your hand. George scowls before shoving his twin.

“You already have your soulmate don’t take mine.” George grumbles and you laugh at the two.

“Well your guys store is really cool.” You say turning to look around and see a display of heart shaped glasses with a pink potion in it. You pick it up and look closer at it.

“That’s a love potion.” George says from behind you.

“Does it work?” You question tapping the potion.

“All of our stuff works, but we never had to test it out so many people already love us.” Fred says and you startle not realizing he had shown up.

“You gave me a heart attack.” You clutch your heart dramatically and George chuckles.

“Sorry.” Fred says not looking sorry at all.

You continue looking around and George and Fred watch you.

George’s POV:

“So you finally found your soulmate.” Fred says as I watch Y/n walk around our store. I watch her for a few more moments before turning to Fred.

“Yeah.” I say with a smile looking at her wander around the store. She turns back and mouths “this is so cool.” Somehow my smile gets wider and Fred pats me on the back.

“You my twin are whipped already.”

“No I’m not.” I defend rolling my eyes.

“Oh you definitely are. You should ask her on a date.”

“But we’re soulmates? Shouldn’t we just be married already.” I say slightly confused. Me and Y/n were meant to be together so why not get married tomorrow.

“Ahhh my poor younger brother. That’s not how women work.” I glare at him.

Suddenly Y/n comes walking back to us holding a Stormcloud potion. “What’s this do?” She asks and I gently take it out of her hand and pull the cork off the top. Suddenly a small storm cloud appears over head and there’s a little lightning just above the bottle.

“This makes a storm cloud follow a person for around a hour depending on how much the person ingests.” I say and she looks at it questioningly.

“You know I think I’m good now.” She says and I laugh looking down at her.

I look for a few moments and Y/n looks up and meets my eyes. “What?” She asks.

I shake my head. “Nothing you’re just beautiful.”

She blushes and I smile. “Would you like to go on a date?”

She smiles before grabbing one of my hands. My hand is so much larger than hers and it makes me feel all happy. “Of course I would George.”
