Prologue
“So, the day that I first met Jacob.. uh.. the day that I first met Jacob, we were both sitting in the Steen National Bank. Never would I-”
Newt looks up from his best man speech to see who's quiet footsteps had disturbed the freshly fallen snow - and his train of thought. Tina Goldstein, the one who had taken up his mind these past few years, was standing in front of him. Never would he have imagined that they would once again be face to face, standing in each others presence.
On first glance, Tina did not realize that it was Newt standing outside the bakery. It was dimly lit, and the commotion inside was enough to distract her mind from the figure in front of her. He was busy in thought - talking to himself - so she was quiet on approach as to not disturb him. As Newt first looked up to meet her gaze, Tina's eyes practically swelled with tears upon recognizing him. They appeared to the other as the best they had ever looked. Newt was rarely dressed up in any scenario he was with Tina, and Tina herself had changed her hairstyle and adopted a more professional atmosphere. Both were speechless, silently admiring how good the other looked.
“The maid of honor, I presume?” Newt spoke out.
“The best man, I gather?” Tina added.
