Friends

The first couple hours were spent in Freya’s bedroom by the five friends. All of them filling in each other with what has been happening in their lives since they left school for summer break. All of them have different family drama, new skills being learned or events that have happened. It’s a nice atmosphere in the room with all of them gathered once again.

After hours with each other it feels like they never were separated. It’s great with friends that you can pick up from whenever and it feels like no time has passed. And with these people, Freya's people, it felt just like that. She couldn’t be happier.

For the past hour they have been able to hear more tussling around than usual. Probably the boy's friends that are over. But now it could be heard moving upstairs. “Get ready for maybe incoming if I know my brother right.” She gave her friends a warning. It wasn’t strange that he maybe wanted to introduce her or her friends since they would be in the same house, but she knows her brother and now Sirius too, they can’t do anything light heartedly.

Just as predicted a few minutes later a knock on her door followed by it getting swung open the second later James was there. “Why even knock if you’re just gonna open the door the second after?” She gave him a stern look.

“So when you tell mom and dad that I just walk in without any warning I can defend myself by saying that I do give a warning. Not my fault if you don’t react fast enough.” He responds, sticking out his tongue to her. Idiot.

“Yeah cause that millisecond is definitely long enough for me to do anything about it.” She says, giving him a deadpan look.

“Okay you two, enough. We came in here for a reason.” Sirius piped in being the voice of reason for the first time ever. But with the duo not wanting that they both gave him a death glare to make him stop. “Wow you stop bickering just to gang up on me, how nice of you.”

“Okay fine. His right. We came here to ask if you want to join us down stairs. Mom and dad left for a night out to give us the house so we thought, maybe a little bit of a party down stairs?” James gave up the bickering to deliver the information he actually came in for. The friends all looked at eachother, talking without saying anything seeing what everyone wanted.

“Sure we can join you guys.” Freya announce standing up from her bean bag she’s been sitting on. “How many of your friends came over actually?” Freya asked, starting to move with the others.

“Peter, Remus and Marlene for us, Lily and Mary couldn't make it with this little notice since they don’t have floo at their houses. Then four of Regulus' friends.”

“Marlene and Peter? Yes! I haven’t seen them in ages.” A big smile appears on Freya's face. Just like Nina is her childhood best friend, Peter and Marlene are James.

As they make their way down the hall to the staircase they can already hear the music from the living room. Get the party started I guess.

“Freya!” Marlene's voice boomed out the second her eyes landed on her. Drawing the attention from everyone including Peter he followed soon after exclaiming her name, then both of them were by her giving her the biggest hug. The trio burst out in laughter as Freya is in the middle getting squished.

“Yea nice to see you two again too.” Nina's voice came out from where the rest of the group had come into the room.

Two exaggerated gasping sounds could be heard before Peter and Mearlene let go of Freya looking over her shoulder at the group of her friends. “Nina!” They shrieked in sync and were soon over at her as well. “Shit. We haven’t seen you in years.” Marlene said, beaming at her.

“Yeah well you're never here when I’m here.” She let out laughing at their excitement.

“Are you two done with your over dramaticness now?” Sirius pleaded with a glint in his voice.

“Us dramatic? Have you met yourself?” She rolled her eyes at him.

“What? I would never!” He defended himself, putting up his hand over his chest pretending to be hurt.

“Uh huh.” She looked at him up and down. “Point proven.” Smirking at him.

“Alright you two. Let’s not start this right now.” James put himself in the middle stopping things before they came out of hand.

“What? No. I was enjoying the show.” Freya piped up, sad by her brother's decision.

“Freya!” He turned to her with a scowling face.

“Alright fine… You're no fun.” She muttered at him.

“Lets have some fun instead alright? But first introductions, make sure everyone is on the same wavelength.”

And so the night begins. Instead of three small friend groups they emerge into one getting to know each other and having a good time.

Everything is all over the place for a while. Some people are sitting on the sofas talking and just chilling. Some are playing card games by the dining table in the living room. Some dancing to the music they have on. Then at some point there is alcohol being brought into the room by none other than James and Sirius of course. That’s when things start to escalate a little. The music gets turned up and the people that were playing games ditch that to either join the people on the sofas or join the dance party.

Freya being one of the people on the dance floor is having some of the best time she has had in a long time. Usually she has to separate her time with her friends and her brother but right now she gets both. Sure she might not actively be with all of her friends and James right now but they are all so very close by.

Right now she has just been dragged up on the dining table by Sirius and Marlene to dance there instead of the floor. Everything good is always better on a table. Stuck in this blissful moment she feels it all in her whole body. It’s a great and almost tingling feeling. Wanting to be here forever if she could make it happen.

As the night continues some of the people dancing get tired and goes over to the sofas instead and some people find the inspiration to dance from the alcohol and leave the sofas.

Freya being one of the people getting tired she goes over to the sofas slinging herself on Nina when she sees that there's no free space on the actual sofa. “Hi there.” She smiles down at her, not that surprised by the invasion of personal space.

“Hello.” Freya gives her a loopy smile back resulting in her best friend laughing at her. She gets a bit all over the place when she’s drunk. Her friends like to call her a lightweight but it’s not quite that. It’s more just that she feels more free and then she lets everything down much faster. If you want her to tell you any secrets it just takes some alcohol and she’s an open book.

They sit like that for a bit. Freya not paying much attention to anything or anyone just being there. Then when she notices someone moving from the sofas she realises she maybe hasn't been paying as little attention to anything and anyone as she might have thought. Because her previous source of distraction to look at was now going out the back door to the backyard.

She can feel her eyebrows scrunching up and not long after she is up and moving without her brain asking her beforehand. Fortunately everyone else is just as drunk and doesn't question where she's going.

It’s colder outside than it was inside with everyone else. Maybe not surprising but in her drunken state it wasn't as obvious as it should have been. Her arms gets covered in goosebumps and she has to try and rub it away, but it only helps that much.

Looking around she sees a small light on her left just down the stairs from the patio.

“Hello Remus.” She hears herself say as she sits down next to him. Again without her brain checking with her.

He looks over at her with a bit of a shocked look on his face. Guess she had been quiet so he hadn't noticed her coming after him. “Hi.” He replaced his shocked look with a small smile instead.

“You know those aren’t good for you. They could kill you.” She pointed at the cigarette in his hand. It was the cigarette that had been the light source she had seen she released just after she said it.

“Mhm. I’m well aware.” He let out a soft chuckle. She couldn’t help the frown that appeared on her face from that. He knew it could kill him but still did it?

“Why?” She couldn’t help the question and comments that came out from her mouth now. The brain not talking to her was back. Damn brain. Or is it the alcohol?

He shrugged “Feels kinda nice I guess. At least now that I’ve gotten used to it.”

“How can you like something that you have to learn to like?” She couldn’t quite comprehend the answers she got.

“You always have this many questions?” He shot back at her ignoring the last question. Probably because he didn’t know either. Like how could anyone learn to like something. Either you like it or you don’t. Right?

“No.” She let it out slowly as she thought about it for a second time. “Or maybe.” She was silent for a moment sitting thinking again. “No. No I don’t. But people tend to spill all of their secrets to me when I’m drunk. Maybe I do ask a lot of questions now that I think about it. No, I stand by the fact that I don’t. But I do say that I maybe do when I’m drunk. I’m not too certain about that.” She came back into focus from her own world of thinking. In front of her is Remus with his mouth in a half smirk. “What?” She let out a small nervous chuckle.

“Nothing.” He answered with a shallow breath. “But I do think all of that answered my question.” He smirked at her.

After that they just sat there for a couple of minutes in silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence like it can be especially with new people. No, this was surprisingly nice and easy. Sitting on the steps looking out and listening to the nature that surrounds them.

“There you guys are.” Sirius Came out, taking away the quiet surrounding them. “We were thinking of playing some game. You two wanna join?”

“Well since you already disturbed our calm atmosphere. Sure.” Freya answered standing up from the steps officially ending whatever this was.

As she was walking back inside she could see Sirius going a couple more steps out talking in a hushed voice to his friend.

“Alright everybody´s in.” Sirius came back announcing with Remus close behind. “Hey! That was my seat.” He complained as soon as he saw Freya in the seat next to Nina that he apparently had been in before.

“You snooze, you lose.” She responds, putting up her feet in her best friend's lap to finalise the occupation of the seat.

“Wha- James!” He called on his friend for back up.

“You think I can make her change her seat? You think too highly of med Pads.” He gave him a sympathetic smile. But Sirius was dedicated and gave him his best pleading eyes. “Alright. Freya.” He dragged out her name in a plea. “Pretty please can't you give Sirius that seat back?”

She let out a huff in response. “I don’t see his name on it.”

“Please.” He tried with a last plea. But all he got in response was a glare.

“Come on Freya.” Remus' voice suddenly appeared in the conversation. He was coming from upstairs with a beanbag from James' room. “You can share this with me and Pads can get that seat back.”

Still looking with a glare at the three friends she admitted defeat. “Fine.” She let out short, walking over to take a seat on one of the halves.

“Wait what? Really? You never back down. I’m pretty sure it’s a pride thing usually.” James gawked at his sister.

“You want me to move back.” She half threatened.

“No!” Sirius moved fast to secure his seat back to him. And just as he was sitting down she couldn’t help but notice the small gentle smile shared between him and Nina. Interesting.

“Okay if you guys are done now let's play something. Any suggestions?” Marlene piped up from where she was sitting on the floor in front of one of the sofas.

“Oh! Let’s play who’s most likely to.” Pandora suggested happily after a moment of silence. “It could be a fun way to get to know each other.”

Nobody had any objections to that suggestion so, who’s most likely to, it is. With everyone having a drink they make sure everyone has the same rules. The one with the most votes has to take a drink.
