Chapter 6
Harry, had just had what was likely the best day of his life to date. The morning had started out as they normally did. Aunt ‘Tunia had rapped on his cupboard door demanding he wake and begin cooking breakfast. Then came a knock at the front door. What happened after that was a blur to him, though he was sure he would never forget it. He had opened the door at Aunt ‘Tunia’s demand when she had craned her neck around the door and started yelling at the man, and then slammed the door in his face. Then the man opened the door and walked in while ‘Tunia had tried to make a run for the kitchen, probably to get Vernon. Before she could the strange man introduced him as his mothers friend and told him they hadn’t died in a car crash and told ‘Tunia he was taking Harry when she said they hadn’t wanted him. Which, though he already knew from the daily reminders, still hurt. Maybe he didn’t want them either. Then the man grabbed him and spun around and suddenly they were next to Harrod’s and he was ready to be sick.
Luckily, the man, Seborus he reminded himself, gave him some blue stuff that made him feel better, and then started… buying him things? Harry had wished for someone to save him many times, but still, he felt guilty for all the trouble Seborus was going through for him. Harry knew he was a burden and not worth the money or effort the man was spending on him, but he was so happy for all the new things. He had never had his own clothes before and Seborus told him all about his mum while they shopped. He couldn’t help but accept the kindness.
His mum’s favorite color was blue, but she wore lots of browns and oranges as well because she liked how they looked with her (red!) hair. Her favorite band was someone called Queen, and she loved to go to concerts. She was a Gryffindor, whatever that was, and she had tons of friends in all the houses. Harry assumed that meant his mum was in a boarding school. She must have been brilliant! He also had the same green eyes as his mum and couldn’t help but look in a mirror every time they passed to look at them. His mum had been kind, and smart, but held a mean grudge. Apparently, she had held one against his dad for six whole years, which was longer than he had even been alive. She had a cat that was mean to everyone but her. She was Seborus’ best friend until their fifth year when they got in a fight so Seborus knew a whole lot about her from when she was in school, but not much after that—Seborus also told Harry about his dad when they had gone to get shoes. The red shoes he liked so much looked just like shoes his dad always wore, and Seborus told him they could get them! Then, after all that they went out and got sandwiches and Seborus told Harry he could stay with him and they had to wear disguises for some reason. Sadly, after such a big day he was exhausted so he was rather glad when Seborus took Harry to his house, gave him some more minty blue stuff, and sent him to take a nap.
