Gura & Amelia
Rain poured down from up on high, pattering against everything it hit, all the way from grand skyscrapers to modest houses. One such small house had its lights beam through the dark blue atmosphere outside, and inside, had a blonde haired girl on a red couch casually reading a book. Her left hand, covered by a black glove, was used to prop up her head while the other was used to turn the pages.
“Hey, Watson.”
Her attention was drawn away from the admittedly average story by a voice from behind, turning to see a white haired girl peeking over from behind the couch.
“Hm? What is it Gura?”
“You know what day it is?”
The girl known as Gura had an excited smile plastered onto her face, as if she was trying to hide a secret.
“February 14th?”
Amelia Watson did not share the enthusiasm, as noted by her confused tone.
“Aaaaaaaaaand you know what day that is?”
Amidst the conversation, Amelia unconsciously noticed what seemed to be heat rising to Gura’s face.
“Friday…? Gura, did you hit your head or something on that last mission? You’re bright red.”
The girl in question recoiled a small amount, attempting to hide behind the couch.
“I-I’m just… here!”
Out of nowhere, Gura shoves a red heart shaped box into Amelia’s arms.
“Oh, pretty box. What’s the occasion?”
The latter tilts their head, curious.
“It’s valentines day, you Stinky!”
The former meanwhile is smiling brightly, despite their attempts to hide and the blush on their face.
“Hey!- wait. Valentines day?”
“Y-Yeah… wait, did you… forgot about valentines day?”
The detective lowered the box in her hands to stare at her companion.
“…I was employed as an assassin for a good… oh god…”
Halfway through her sentence, she froze and began to shake. Her vision became unfocused. The air suddenly felt heavy. She held her head in an attempt to silence the voices. It was so loud.
“Ame… AME! I’M HERE…! I’m here…”
Gura hugged Ame.
…
“T-Thanks, Gura…“
“…”
Gura had hopped over the back of the couch in order to embrace Amelia, and they sat in silence for a couple of moments. The latter regained their bearings while the former comforted them all the while. Eventually, the sorrowful quiet was replaced by a somewhat air of normalcy as Amelia began to talk again.
“So… what’s valentines day?”
The question caused Gura to recoil slightly, realizing the now present awkwardness of their situation.
“O-Oh, right. Basically… it’s… a day where you show your love for the people around you. M-Most oftentimes… by… giving people chocolate…”
“Oh. T-That… oh god… sounds fun…”
“Ame?”
“I’m fine… so, is this box?-“
“Y-Yes!- I mean- Open it up, Stinky!”
Ame giggled weakly.
“Ok, ok.”
…
“Aw! They’re little sea creatures!”
“I remembered you like marine biology. So…”
“Thank you, Gura. I love it.”
Amelia smiled at Gura.
Gura smiled back.
“Of course, Ame.”
