Chapter 1
The wind blares as the sound of the sea gives them the same thrill it has since they were young. Running away from all their problems, more so the problems they've caused. Let’s put it this way, being a pirate doesn't have a great salary. Plus, stealing is what a pirate does. After being caught stealing from multiple stands in the royal courtyard the guards chased after them leaving to flee yet another island. Of course, this isn't the first time they’ve been caught on this specific island. They must have stolen from here at least 6 times, causing the guards to be even more aggravated. As they sail away to find a place to stow away for a while Remus climbs up from the bottom of the ship slightly intoxicated spilling brown bourbon on his half unbuttoned white colored shirt. “To another successful voyage!” James cheers as he takes a swig from his own bottle. “I wouldn't call that successful James,” Remus says with an amused smirk watching his friend dribble onto his shirt “ we nearly got caught.” ‘Oh, but thats what makes it so fun Moony!” James tells Remus unbothered by the stains forming on his shirt. Remus smiles at the nickname James gave him when they were little, there was never any reason for it but it stuck. “I suppose you’re right.” Remus says throwing his arm over James shoulder naturally. He pulls him in for a side hug just grateful they didn't get hurt cause one of these times they may not be so lucky. “Oi!” James shouts pulling away from Remus. “It’s an island!” James says with his voice full of excitement. Remus looks out past the fog and he can see that they're in fact approaching an island. It seems to be abandoned. “Maybe we should pull the ships to the side and lay low here until they pass by or give up” Remus suggested. “You're probably right.” James agrees going up to prepare to drop the anchor. Once they get close enough he drops the anchor.
The boys grab all their stuff and get ready to find a place to settle. As they attempt to get off the ship James trips over his own feet, flying down the ramp landing on the ground sand flying everywhere. Remus stares at James deadpanned, shaking his head in embarrassment attempting to go down the ramp; he falls on his face, getting sand up his nose. They silently agree not to talk about this after a good minute of staring at each other. James shakes his curls in an attempt to get the sand out. The island is beautiful. Trees that were a lime green, the fog somehow gone. It’s as if someone took this place out of a story book but you know, minus the mermaids. After venturing for about an hour they find what looks like it could be a cave. James lights a torch, his dark brown skin shining in the fire light. They enter the cave and find a lagoon shining with a blue luminescent glow. They decide to set up camp here considering it would give them more coverage. They drink til they fall asleep side by side the way they have since they were little.
