Unlikely Family
The boy opened his eyes, blinking slowly he had no idea where he was. He was warm and comfortable, maybe a little dizzy and his bruises and cuts stung. That didn't really matter though he hadn't felt this good in⊠well he didn't remember a time he felt better. Looking around he realized he was in the arms of a woman. She was very pretty⊠well she looked a little crazy too but she looked nothing like Aunt Petunia and that was good enough for him. They were in a pretty green forest, fog covering the ground and sparkling in the moonlight. Quite a bit away was a castle like the ones in Dudleys fairytale stories. Only this one looked like it had been there a very long time and it was falling apart. It was hidden behind trees and he couldn't really make out the details. Looking back up at the woman he remembered that she had saved him from his relatives. She had told him that he was special and that he had magic like her. She wanted to be his momma, and she thought Datura was pretty. No one had liked Datura before saying that his snake was scary. She was so pretty and nice , plus she had a Castle, she must be a princess.
âHello little one, I see you woke up side-along apparition can make you dizzy.â Said his new mom smiling at him. She sat him down gently wrapping Datura around his neck. âWe are in the Black Forest in Baden-WĂŒrttemberg, Germany. In fact we are just outside of the wards of the Irrwurz-Schloss. It's going to be our new home. I need to key you into the wards so that you can enter. I'm going to need a little bit of your blood darling, is that ok?â
He thought about it just because she hadn't done anything mean to him yet didn't mean that she couldn't. He didn't really want to be hurt anymore. Datura wrapped a little tighter around him whispering soothing words. âYou prom..promised not to h..hurt me.â He said a little shakily weighing his auctions. In the end he decided that nothing could be worse than the Dursleys and slowly stuck out his hand.
âYou are correct little one, I promise not to hurt you. I'm just going to poke your finger and get 7 drops of blood.â she said, grabbing his hand gently, poking his finger spreading the blood on an invisible wall. She grabbed his hand when she was done. Healing it making it seem like nothing happened. âThere we go, see good as new. Come let's go see the castle.â Her smile was a little too big for her face, he thought she was beautiful. He grabbed her hand holding it. Walking forward he felt a wave of static wash over his skin.
Looking up at the castle it looked completely different; he could make out the details and it no longer looked blurry. It was the biggest building he had ever seen. It was made out of dark gray, almost black stones. It had Moss and ivy covering the walls in a thick blanket. It no longer looked like it was breaking down. The windows had big pretty Stained glass pictures that were moving into others. He could hear whispers surrounding him and saw a pretty black snake rush past him. The path they were walking down had deadly flowers on both sides. Stinging nettle, giant hogweed, foxglove, wolfsbane, and nightshade. He had never been more grateful for Aunt Petunia's gardening books. He had always loved plants, they were beautiful but deadly. Some of the plants he didn't recognize, as they moved towards them he gasped. Some of the plants followed and others sang, but most had bright poisonous colors.
He smiled up at his new momma, she was smiling back. âI've never seen flowers like this, they're so pretty. Did you know that foxglove is okay to plant and pick up, but If you suck on the flower buds or grind up the stems into a powder, It can cause hallucinations and slowly shut down your heart.â That was probably the most he had said without struggling to his new mother. He was slightly bouncing and getting more and more excited. â and deadly nightshade also known as Belladonna can put you in a coma and cause de-â He stopped in sentence hearing his momma give a manic cackle.
âDarling you're so cute, where did you learn about all the poisonous flowers?â His momma said kneeling down to his level. Plucking one of the foxgloves and putting it in his hair. He blushed suddenly, embarrassed for talking so much hoping his momma wasn't mad at him.
âWell Aunt Petunia wanted me to stop doing fr..freaky things so she gave me ummm a bunch of gardening bâŠbooks and would leave me outside. She made me do all the gardening. But ummm I would still do fr..freaky things sometimes. Like when Dudley killed all the lilies I grew and I kinda broâŠbrought them back to life. Uncle Vernon was really m..mad and I got in big trouble. I was stuck in my cupâŠcupboard for like a week.â He then began to panic when he saw the mad look in his momma's eyes. âButâŠbut I promise I won't do anything freâŠfreaky, and I don't even need that much spâŠspace and I won't bother you and I can cook and clean p..please don't get rid of me.â
âOh no, shhh darling it's ok I'm not mad at you my love.â She brings me into a hug rocking me softly. âNo, I'm mad at those disgusting muggles. Thinking they're better than such a powerful wizard. They're truly the scum of the Earth.â She growled, holding him tighter. âNo my precious flower, you have strong gifts, bringing back the dead is admirable. You have such strong magic in you. I will never be angry at you for using it. My Lord was strong and powerful like you, and he was admired and feared by thousands."His momma said getting a wishful look on her face. "Come darling, it's been a long day and you need sleep.â His momma picked him up carrying him too big, pretty, wooden doors. They opened into some sort of seating room. The furniture looked expensive and everything had jewels or gold.
âHmmm I wonder, HELLO? Head elf come here now!â His momma yelled but he wasn't scared it didn't sound anything like Vernon or Petunia. There was a pop sound, and suddenly a strange creature was in front of them. It was wrinkly. They had big eyes and huge floppy ears, it looked kinda looked like one of Mrs. Figg's hairless cats. It was wearing what looked to be a dark gray pillowcase with a big âBâ embroidered on the corner. The creature's eyes got even bigger and it looked like it was panicking and immediately popped away. From somewhere deeper in the house there was a huge crash. It sounded like somebody was running towards them when they saw an angry looking man holding a stick.
âBELLATRIX WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!â The man yelled pointing his stick at his new momma. He kind of looks like his new momma with a sharp angle face and black curly hair that goes to his shoulders. His eyes were silver but they didn't hold the same craziness his mommas did. He was dressed in what looked to be an expensive black and green sweater. His pants looked like the dress slacks that Vernon used to wear for church but way more expensive. He was also wearing a pair of pink socks which made him look a whole lot less serious.
âCousin Regulus what a wonderful surprise, why don't you put your wand away and we can talk and come to an agreementâ his momma set him down making sure he was behind her protecting him. The man- no Regulus noticed him and looked up at his momma with a snarl on his face.
âReally Bella, kidnapping children? I expected better but I guess a crazy bitch like you doesn't even have standards. Leave, I don't want you here ruining my future plans.â Regulus said, moving quickly towards Bellatrix. He looked angry like how Uncle Vernon looked before he would hurt him. The boy was scared that his momma was going to get hurt and pushed her out of the way. The warm feeling in his stomach exploding out at Regulus, slamming him into the wall and knocking him out.
Panicking, the boy turned around to look at his momma. âI'm sorry I..I didn't mean to. He looked like he was going to hurt you and I got s..scared I didn't mean to hurt him. I'm so sorry.â He was close to tears; he had ruined his chances of getting a family. His momma wasn't going to want him anymore. She was going to be scared of him like the Dursley's. She was going to give him back. He hated himself, he hated his stupid freakishness. Maybe the dursleys were right he just ruined everyth- His thoughts were cut off when a pair of arms wrapped around him in a safe embrace.
âShhhh my precious baby boy, protecting me you're so strong, I'm so proud of you.â his momma whispered into his hair rubbing circles on his back and comforting him. âDon't worry, you did nothing wrong. Let's get you set up in a bedroom and put to bed. Elf! Come here now!â He heard a pop but he didn't really care, his face was in his mother's chest and he continue to cry holding on to her tightly.
âYou come here! What is your name elf?âHis momma said in a strong voice.
âNixie Mrs.Bellaâ
âYou will show my son and I to a proper room, Nixie. We will be staying here for the foreseeable future. Regulus is fine he's just sleepingâ His Momma stood up carrying him following Nixie. Following the elf up the stairs and to a guest bedroom. Opening the door and looking inside the room was huge, decorated in dark blue and forest green. It had a dark wood desk off to the side. The closet was huge and towered over him. It had a door connecting another bedroom for his momma and a door to what he would assume is a bathroom to the side. What really caught his attention though was the biggest bed he had ever seen in the middle of the room, it looked soft and he suddenly felt very tired. He yawned, his momma letting out a giggle and moved over to the bed, laying him down. She tucked him into warm blankets and sat next to him.
âSleep now darling, we will talk when you wake up tomorrow I promise.â She moved, kissing his forehead, setting his snake on top of his chest. âGoodnight darling, your snake will protect you.â She stood up, walking out of the room and closing the door. The boy smiled, maybe everything would be okay. Maybe he would finally have a true family. He kissed Datura's head and fell asleep with a wide smile on his face.

Bella was thoroughly confused but also quite delighted, she had such a strong child he was perfect. âperfect, pretty, beautiful, baby-â No she was more confused about seeing her baby cousin Reggie. The last she had heard was that he died on a noble quest from her Lord. âSneaky, snake Reggie-â Skipping down the stairs and going back into the foyer she stopped, staring at the unconscious form of Regulus. Such a strong magically powerful son she had found herself.
âWAKEY WAKEY REGGIE!â She yelled kicking him in the side, giggling it was just like when they were kids and she would throw curses at him. He groaned, sitting up confused. The fear that flashed in his eyes made her smile, the panic was nice to see. She was happy she wasn't losing her touch. âHello cousin, let's have a chat.â She grabbed him by the back of the neck pulling him up onto his feet. âLead the way little cousinâ she pushed him forward him leading her to a seating area. It was bland and didn't have many colors, although the room still showed a generous amount of wealth.
âYouâŠyou need to leave, I don't want you here. Honestly, what are you even doing here? Last I heard you were locked away in Azkaban for the rest of your disgusting miserable life.â she thought Reggie looked absolutely adorable trying to look intimidating.
âAnd last I heard you were dead in a ditch rotting awayâ she spit out, his deplorable behavior making her sick. âYou're cowardly and you are destroying the honor of our house. I am here to raise my son regardless of what you want.â Her mind was usually clear for this conversation, almost as if something was helping her mind to focus.â Did you not feel our Lord's magic wrapping around him, he is strong. It is obvious that he is important to our Lord. So I will raise him as my own and protect him. I have made plans to murder the despicable muggles he was staying with. He is mine and you will not get in the way of that. I will kill you if I have to.â She says unusually calm, making Regulus shiver in fear. He fully believed that if it came down to it she would kill him without hesitation.
âThis is my house, I was here first Bella, you cannot just come prancing in and ruining the plans I have made. His magic is familiar, but our Lord was trying to kill him. I don't want that disgusting spawn of Potter in my house, or his tainted magic!â He yelled at her.
How dare he call her precious beautiful child disgusting. She stood up visibly fuming, her magic wrung tight around her. âHOW DARE YOU! YOU KNOW NOTHING! YOU'RE PATHETIC, HIDING FROM TRUE POWER.â Her magic lashed out breaking a nearby vase, the crazed look returning to her eyes. âCRUCIO!â It was no wonder she was the left hand woman to the dark lord, being able to cast one of the unforgivables wandlessly. Watching as her cousin crumpled on the floor and screamed in agony. âoh I hope he doesn't wake up my precious babe-â letting go of the curse and taking a calming breath. âWe are staying here and that if final, you are lucky I don't throw you out but unfortunately you know far too much.â She stands up, glaring at him. âI am going to sleep and tomorrow you will join us. We will be going to Gringotts and seeing a proper wizarding healer. You will show us the way.â And with that she walks away leaving Regulus to contemplate wether or not it was worth it to just leave and go anywhere else.
