Chapter 1

November 25th, 1981
Somewhere By The Sea, Wales, United Kingdom
Home of Remus Lupin, Sirius Lupin and Valkyrie Lupin

'Dad! Dad! Look what I found!' Valkyrie called as she ran through the house with a printed picture in her hand.

"What's that sweetheart?" said Remus, picking up his daughter and studying the photo. In it, a curly black haired boy with stormcloud grey eyes sat at a table, a slightly younger Remus sat beside him, books scattered across the table as if they were studying. Ah, the school library. More painful a memory was Regulus.

'Dad, who's that boy?'

"Your uncle."

'Oh! Dad, why haven't I met him?'

"He has a job far away my dear, it keeps him very busy and he can't come here."

Sirius sat outside, down at the seashore nearby. As Sirius sat there, he smiled through the tears threatening to pour at the grey stone reading 'Regulus Arcturus Black
1961 - 1979
Beloved son, brother and friend'. Reading that over and over again hurt more than anything, but Sirius was doing it for his little brother. Regulus. Reg. Reggie. Just behind Sirius was the little library he'd gotten a few of their friends to help build as a memorial for Reg about three weeks ago. He'd love that, Sirius had thought. Sirius laid down and looked at the clouds, watching all the different shapes they created. 'Hey there Reg, what's it like in heaven? Or wherever you are. The better place, I hope. You were good, so very good. I'm so proud of you. I miss you and I love you. Remember that, alright?'

Sirius took the bouquet of black roses he'd bought out of his bag and arranged them nicely against the gravestone, along with the seasalt chocolate Regulus always loved.
