0.3 - Warnings on the wall
As she and Harry strolled down the street, she began taking note of how the sea of people darted their eyes at her and Harry, mostly him. But the weirdest thing was that he didn’t seem all that fazed as her.
“Why are they looking?” She raised her eyebrow as they entered a snow-white marble building that held stories so high that you could see miles away.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Harry murmured as he led the way inside, where dozens of counters rose a few feet high, seeming the make the creatures that were short, fair-skinned, and had ears like elves look taller and more intimidating to newcomers.
The afternoon light shone through the circular windows from the wall to their right, bringing warmth from the chilling area. As Harry approached one of the goblins, she noticed the engravings on the silver set of doors they recently walked through;
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
*Why would I even take something that’s not mine? That’s unethical.* She rolled her eyes and saw Harry leaving with the short creature, so she followed until they reached a mine.
“Get in.” The creature urged as the cart arrived, so she and Harry hopped in with the creature and went for a literal and emotional roller coaster. For her, at least, until she felt a churn in her stomach.
