For once Draco was the one pining over Harry. He had stopped going outside at midnight, and was barely around during the day. Draco knew he'd messed up. Or maybe he just did exactly what he was meant to do.

The blonde kept trying to remind himself that him and Harry weren't friends. They couldn't be friends. Draco needed Harry in his life, and if they crossed the line to friends that wouldn't last.

Harry would realize how horrible Draco truly was and he'd leave. A war hero and an ex deatheater. It would never work and sadly Draco knew that. He was afraid of losing the only thing that had been constant.

Draco thought he didn't have something that kept him grounded, but he shortly realized after the last week that he did. It was Harry. Without Harry's presence he was a mess. He felt truly pathetic.

He walked down the stairs a few minutes before midnight. Sitting in the back porch and waiting, he figured Harry wouldn't come out like the last few days. He was wrong thankfully.

"Hey." Harry said quietly, standing above the blonde. "You came out tonight." Draco said, and almost visibly cringed at the excitement in his voice. Harry laughed softly, taking his seat next to the man.

"I just needed some space."

Draco nodded in understanding, and he wasn't sure if it was because he was tired, or because Harry was comforting.. he laid his head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry I upset you." Draco spoke slow, afraid to break his mask too much.

"You didn't upset me, you simply told me the truth. Nothing wrong with that." Harry had a bitterness in his voice that Draco couldn't pinpoint. Since Harry didn't work tomorrow they managed to sit there for about an hour.

"Want to watch a film? It's cold outside, I don't want you getting sick." Harry said, and Draco's heart ached in a way he couldn't explain. The way Harry managed to care so tenderly did something to him that he wanted to run away from.

Harry felt nothing but fear in that moment, waiting for the next rejection. It seemed this porch at midnight was the only place Draco would really drop his mask and be himself with Harry.

Either way both boys quietly made their way to the couch, and in Draco's words turned on a 'bloody disgusting love story' called The notebook. "Goodness potter, Taylor swift, chick flicks. If I didn't know any better I'd say you were actually a girl."

Harry laughed, scooting a bit closer to Draco than he should've. "Definitely not a girl." He said simply, making Draco look at him once again. Something Draco was too accustomed to doing nowadays.

Hermione Granger knows a lot of things change. She's a very smart girl, and she always is the first one to put the puzzles together. One thing she never saw coming though, was walking into Harry's house and seeing him and Draco Malfoy cuddling on the couch sleeping.

She wasn't sure whether to wake them up, or flee before they caught her watching such a tender moment. Instead of doing either she decided to go and make breakfast for the tired boys.

A few moments after she had set the table, she heard awkward whispering. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to fall asleep." Harry said in a tone of fear. She heard Draco chuckle, "potter we both fell asleep. I don't care. Come on someone's in the kitchen."

After some shuffling she heard the sound of footsteps and turned to hide her smirk. "Erm, goodmorning Hermione. What's all of this?" Harry said awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

"Breakfast, you two looked comfortable. I figured I'd feed you." Draco chuckled giving Hermione a hug, "we appreciate you." He said quietly, sitting down at his cup of tea. Harry grabbed the coffee she made and sighed heavily.

"We were watching a film and fell asleep. It wasn't anything weird. We still aren't really talking." Harry whispered the last part in a sad tone, but Draco heard him nonetheless.

"Your secrets safe with me." Hermione winked, giving them their plates. "Eat up and then get ready, we have a lot to go over today." Harry groaned and rolled his eyes, "alright alright."

They were planning a surprise party for Ron's birthday. Draco ate breakfast in silence. Harry and Hermione chatting away. "Draco do you want to come to muggle London with us today? We're going to some shops there." Hermione asked causing Draco to snap out of his trance.

He looked at Harry, a weird look on his face. Then back at Hermione, "alright, sure. I must go shower first. Thank you for the invitation." He nodded heading to the stairs.

Hermione glanced at Harry who was watching the blonde intensely, and she smirked. Oh how fun today would be for her.

The three were walking around muggle London after they had gotten everything they needed for Ron's party. "Can we get lunch Mione I'm starving." Harry asked in a hopeful voice. "I still have a few things I need but I guess lunch wouldn't hurt, this way Harry."

They stopped at a little muggle diner, and Harry sat down next to Draco. "What is a cheeseburger?" Draco asked with a bewildered look on his face. Hermione and Harry shared a glance and chuckled.

"You have a lot to learn my dear friend." Hermione said still laughing. "I have to go to the restroom, Harry order me my usual please."

Harry and Draco sat in a comfortable silence, sitting so close in the booth that their legs and arms were touching. They were both falling quicker than they realized. Their plans of not becoming friends was failing, and they were alright with that.

"So what should I get?" Draco asked, fingers tapping on the table. "Since you've never gotten to experience a cheeseburger I'd say that, or any other muggle sandwich. You definitely have to try chips. They're fried heaven."

Lunch ended the way it began, and the boys were definitely being awkward now that all of that attempted flirting had taken place.

Hermione kept giggling, and it was infuriating to Harry. He felt like a teenager with a crush, and it was sickening. He just wanted to be friends with Draco, he wasn't supposed to fall for him.

Harry's life seemed to work that way though. It sickened him to realize he felt this way towards Draco. He wasn't ready to get close to anyone. He broke things off with Ginny for a reason.

He had a lot to think about, which meant refraining from getting any closer to Draco. He couldn't make the same mistakes as his youth, he'd learned too quickly letting people in too easily got them killed.

Maybe it was better for them to just stick to midnight talks, that didn't require so much thinking. The green eyed boy sighed, maybe one day his life wouldn't be so complicated.
