Prologue

"You did what?!" Ron shouted, face going red. He couldn't believe what he'd just heard. His best mate was taking Draco Malfoy into his home. "Have you lost your bloody mind?" Ron cursed, pacing back and forth.

"I believe he's a good person. He wants to apologize to both of you. Me and him still really aren't on talking terms, but I firmly believe he will do better. He doesn't belong in Azkaban and they didn't trust him and his mother alone in the manor." Harry sighed, explaining it for the third time to Ron and Hermione.

Like always Hermione saved the day, "Ron I think it's a good idea. Malfoy was an arse in school but I don't think he deserves Azkaban. He was just a kid with a bad father." Harry smiled thankfully at her.

"Alright if you say so. When is he coming?" As Ron said that the front door opened. Draco Malfoy walked in, and shifted awkwardly. "Hello. Where will my room be?" Harry pulled him up the stairs and pointed to the bedroom next to his.

"This is the one I set up, if you don't like it you can choose any of the others once we get all of your stuff. Since you'll be here for awhile I want you to be comfortable. My home is your home."

Harry had been planning that sentence in his head over and over again since they were told Draco would be moving in today. He wanted to end this feud.

Draco only have a small nod, and walked into the room. "S'good." He answered shortly then walked downstairs to Ron and Hermione.

"Ron I'm sorry, I shouldn't have ever made fun of your family. I shouldn't have made fun of your money status. I shouldn't have called you a blood traitor." He sighed in between sentences, "I shouldn't have done a lot and truly I'm sorry, I'm trying to be better."

Ron shifted awkwardly, not liking how kind and soft spoken Draco was being. There was no malice in Draco's voice and that didn't settle well in Ron's mind. "It's alright, sorry for being a prat back I suppose."

"Hermione, I apologize for using that awful slur and for calling you ugly. I'm sorry for everything really. I was very jealous of you, my father made it very clear that a muggle born shouldn't be getting better grades than me. He used that against me a lot."

Hermione pressed her lips into a thin line, "I can't say I forgive you for the slur, but it's been pushed in the past. We can move forward from here. I appreciate your apology. Thank you."

He stuck his hand out to the both of them, and they both took it reluctantly.

After all of the apologies they left to allow him to settle in. Draco avoided Harry like the plague. He was quiet and never spoke a word.

Until one unfortunate night, at exactly midnight, which turned into tradition.
