He knew it would end like this, he knew it since the Aurors had started hunting down some Death Eaters in the area, since he had seen one of them watching them insistently and he knew it especially when he had seen them follow them. Maybe that's why he decided to be the first to attack them.
The distraction of that shot had worked but not enough to allow him to seminar. Evan had never been a "bad boy" and therefore had tried to avoid hurting the Aurors despite constant urging from Barty, who was decidedly more inclined to that type of act.
After another hundred meters the blond stopped in front of a ruined house, this was their only chance to survive and he knew it. She cupped his hands on his face so she could caress him. He was enchanted by looking into his eyes, those eyes that had made him fall in love from the first moment and suddenly he felt scared that he might die because he didn't want to leave knowing he was leaving him there alone.
-Barty...now you have to listen to me ok? We only have one chance - Evan continued to look at the brunette who for his part had understood that his boyfriend had an idea that he wouldn't like. He was breathing heavily from the race he had just finished - I'll attract the Aurors and you go out the back... don't turn around, don't stop and for anything don't go back -
Barry looked at him shocked hearing what he was asking -Evan but me!...- his sentence was broken by the voice of the Aurors who were approaching. Evan didn't think twice and kissed him. Usually their kisses were passionate and fast but ironically this time the blonde decided to make the kiss slow and sensual as if they had all the time in the world. When he pulled away he licked his lips with a small smile appearing on his face -I didn't think you could go so calmly babe-
-try to survive so I can surprise you again- Barty for a moment forgot what was happening and smiled, pushing him with a hand on his shoulder.
Evan wanted to kiss him again, hold him tightly so as not to let him go again and take him somewhere far away from all this to be just the two of them without anyone. The world wasn't so kind to them though so he had to give the plan away. And immediately.
Soon they were in position: Evan on the stairs waiting to be able to go up and Barty who wanted to wait until the last minute to escape wanting to lighten the weight on the blond's shoulders.
-over here!...here they are! Chasing the boy from the back- Moody appeared in the doorway spitting orders with the two Aurors at his side. These two did not hesitate to obey, running after Barty who, as in Alastor's prediction, went out the back door. After all, it was the only escape route.
The remaining Auror didn't have time to turn back to Evan before he heard his voice say a spell and then saw the ceiling fall on top of him.
-stupid boy...!- Moody's grumbling was clear despite the slight sound of the plaster shattering on the ground followed immediately by the boy's footsteps on the stairs -you won't escape me this time!-
From the Auror's tone Evan understood that he was still irritated about that time he had slipped up a short time ago. This didn't reassure him, in fact he felt panic rise up in him all at once. It didn't help that he also suddenly felt the spells colliding just inches from his feet. He had to hurry if he didn't want to get caught or worse...die.
He lengthened his pace and ended up taking the steps almost two at a time to get to the top. The blows were becoming more and more frequent and he could feel the frustration of the Auror behind him increasing more and more with every blow that didn't land on him. -Avada Kedavra!-
When he heard that word, his blood suddenly froze in his veins. He didn't want to die. Not there and especially not now. He had made plans.
He already had everything in mind to get out of there with Barty and *live* like he had never been allowed to.
These thoughts took him completely, he was so afraid of dying that he ended up getting distracted and getting hit - Ahhrg! - the scream came out spontaneously from his lips. He couldn't help himself, it hurt but he had to continue.
He held his hand on his leg noticing the blood coming out of what looked like a deep cut. In his head he could only think how he hadn't cut the bone too, it was really too deep.
He found it difficult to walk, he was limping, but he tried to use all his willpower and all the adrenaline to continue walking quickly but this time he too took the wand. If he had to be captured he would fight. He no longer wanted to turn his back on him, he was dangerous and deep down he wanted to try to convince him not to kill him.
Moody's blows continued unabated without respite, Evan was almost struggling to keep up with him and block -Moody stop it!-
*Hit!*
-I don't want to hurt anyone!-
*Hit!!*
-stop hitting me! I'm not attacking you!-
*HIT!*
The last blows were particularly strong, so strong that Evan forgot to watch where he was going as he was too focused on protecting himself. He had never done it. Behind him there was a stone belonging to some rubble that had fallen there some time before they arrived. He first felt the blow on the back of his shoe and then felt his balance slipping. Was he falling? How come? Would Moody attack again? Looking at the position of his wand, yes. And like any person, activated at that point, he acted instinctively. Fear pervaded him from head to toe and so, he suddenly decided to *react*. He cast a spell. He didn't know which one either but simply the first non-verbal spell he had in mind.
When he found himself with his ass on the ground he began to retreat quickly... especially when he heard the man's screams.
The pain in his leg did not allow him to get up, only to crawl to the nearest wall. A note of disgust rose in him at that action, he remembered a worm and this disgusted him. He looked up hoping to no longer see the Auror but his boyfriend who had come back to save him. What he saw instead only increased the feeling of disgust that had arisen in him previously. Moody had a hand covering his eye from which a large amount of blood was pouring out. Evan was surprised he was able to hold back the urge to vomit.
-you...you little bastard!- the Auror approached in a threatening manner: one hand on his wand and the other on his eye.
Soon Evan felt the tip of the man's wand against his throat, if he cast a curse right now he would never be able to dodge it. He tried to swallow and noticed how he could feel the pain of something sharp from how hard he was pushing. The hope of surviving... was slowly abandoning him. He was just a kid at heart. He felt tears welling up, his vision blurring and his breath becoming short. He was ashamed of what he was doing but began to beg for his life with his hands on the Auror's wrist hoping he would move away.
-p-please...I don't want to die- the tears began to fall and the sobs to rise. At this moment his life wasn't passing before him but he was just thinking about why he had decided to follow his parents. Why had he always decided not to kill anyone despite his "death eater" title. Maybe if he had gone back, if only he had had a second chance he would have done everything differently. But that wasn't a story, it was her life and now she had reached a crossroads: death or prison.
He didn't know what could be worse but he was sure of one thing, he was afraid of the cold embrace of death.
-don't kill me...I beg you! I give up! - perhaps he was trembling from fear or perhaps from the sobs he was holding back. However, as much as he was praying for his life, his thoughts were elsewhere. They were on their boyfriend's always cold hands, they were on his affectionate hugs that only he could give, they were on his kisses that managed to warm his heart.
The Auror watched him cry and begged for his life but after some hesitation he uttered the fateful words -...Avada Kedavra-
As the life was taken from his body in an instant, leaving him cold and soulless, all he could think about was Barty. She was abandoning him and this hurt even more than dying. One last solitary tear left his eyes before even the last flame of life went out.
*Goodbye my love, at least you...survive for both of us.*
