Hope Your Gonna Stay Away

In all honesty Remus had tried to convince himself that he didn't need Sirius, but seeing him alone in the dorm room made him want to push aside his anger and hold the boy close to him, but he didn't. He wanted Sirius to apologize to do something worth his time, to show some sort of change. When Remus woke up in the hospital the day of the prank, he remembers not seeing his friends anywhere, the rest of the day was a blur. He was spoken to by Dumbledore and McGonagall, and his anger only grew. Sometimes he felt as though he was outside of his own body, that none of this was real and it would all be some sick dream when he would wake up. James was so angry he punched Sirius that night in the dorms after that Remus only ever saw him in classes, he moved his stuff out of the dorms and didn't show up to lunches, Remus was quick to be okay, he would joke around with James and Peter, he would show up to parties. Remus seemed fine and that's okay with him.

“Do you think he was sleeping somewhere he wasn't supposed to be?” This question had been plaguing the friend group for a while now, and Peter was brave enough to ask the question.

“Why do you care about Pete, he can handle himself.” James always shows anger towards Sirius.

“James is right Pete, he can handle himself.”

“Also why should we care, he didn't care about Remus, so why would he expect us to care about him.” Remus wasn't happy about the way that all of this came about, he didn't want the normalcy of their friendship to dissolve in the way it did, but it was clear to him that they hadn't moved on, they thought about that boy every day, even it was angry glances or disappointed looks, they haven't forgotten their friend, at least who he used to be.

When Sirius overheard their conversation, he almost cried. Sure he was almost an adult, and yes he can handle himself, but he didn't want to do this alone. He couldn't handle it, he knew that, he was stuck in this loop that was breaking into a million pieces, but his brain is still stuck in this circle of normality. Sirius sat at the end of the Gryffindor table, close to the door, and far away from the small group of Gryphendors that stayed for break. He was pulling small amounts of food from the middle of the table, trying to ignore his old friends that were sitting down at the table. He looked up to see his brother and his friends moving over to his end of the table.

“Hey Siri!”

“Hey Reggie.” Sirius smiled at his brother as he sat next to him, no facing the group of slytherins. “Do yall need something?”

“We just wanted to give you some company Black, is that a crime?” Rosier gave him a smile.

“I guess not.”

“So, the one and only Sirius Black is sitting alone, what did you do to deserve this level of solitude?”

“Barty, that's rude, but seriously how did you get them to hate you?”

“I did what every Black does, stupid shit.”

“Sounds about right.” Even makes eye contact with Regulus as he says this, Regulus mocks an offended face with a smile.

“Rude, but fair.”

“So, why are we sitting at the Gryffindor table?” Dorcas came up behind Evan and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Giving Siri company, he's all alone, can we adopt him Dora?” That is the first time that he has ever heard Evan use his first name.

“Alright, I guess we can abandon our pride for one day, but next time you sit at our table, I'm begging you, we will never live this down.”

“Alright.” Sirius is surprised at their willingness to abandon their slytherin pride, but then again, not many people were here to witness the insanity of the situation. After a while Pandora, Evans' sister came and sat next to Regulus and they all talked about why they didnt go home for break.

“My parents are on a vacation.”

“My family sucks.”

“My family lives too far away.”

“My house is boring, and it's nice to be with friends.”

They all had a valid reason for staying at Hogwarts. For the rest of the break they sat by each other, sometimes at the slytherin table, sometimes with the ravenclaws, who were the most insane and amazing people Sirius had ever met, sometimes he was able to convince them to go flying, sometimes they would go up to the Gryffindor common rooms and would cause an uproar of theories and conspiracies, but most of the time Sirius spent down in the Slyithern common room.

“I WIN AGAIN LOSER.” Evan and Barty have been playing wizards chess for the past hour, and Barty keeps losing, little does he know that Pandora has taught Evan everything she knows, so he is almost unbeatable.

“Come on, do you have to be so loud about it, we get that you are good, but you don't have to boast about it.”

“Reggie, you just have sensitive ears.”

“Shut up Siri, and don't call me Reggie.”
“I will call you whatever I want.”

“Boys stop fighting, please, I want to watch Barty lose at chess again.”

“Why must you be so mean to me, Pandy?”

“Cause it's funny Barty.” They fell into this domestic routine, tomorrow was the start of term, and they all were stressed, but they had each other, and Sirius hadn't been this happy for a while. He forgot about the fact that his friends had moved on, he forgot about the fact he almost killed a man, he moved along. That seemed to all be in the past now. Sirius felt like he was welcome, and that's all that mattered to him.

Remus had stayed home over break because his “Furry little problem”, that's what James likes to call it, fell right after christmas, and that was very inconvenient to go home. So James and Peter stayed along as well. They would like to say that they didn't think about him at all, but the only thing that the three of them talked about was Sirius Black. They believed that they had moved on, but in all honesty, this set them back months in progress of forgetting that boy. When they saw him sit by his brother, and the rest of the Slytherins, they freaked out. They talked for hours about Sirius, that night they waited awake for him to come back to the dorm, he never came back. They wanted to talk with him, ask him a question, maybe sit around and catch up. This was the moment that they decided that there was something very wrong with Sirius Black.

However this was the best month of Sirius Black's life, he started showing up to parties, study groups, and hogsmeade weekends. He was finally on Mcgonagles good side, she would smile at him in the halls, he hasn't had a detention science before break, honestly he may have set a personal record. Sirius wanted this to last forever, but if you have ever met the Black’s, they seem to have horrible luck.
