Hiii!:> I started this fic as a way to learn a lot of things from it. I hope you like this fic and please tell me anything you find wrong or anything. I'm so sorry for my poor English. It's not my first Language. This fic is mostly about funny things I thought about but there's also some sad things that happen. I don't think it would end up in a super dark place but I will put trigger warnings just in case.

THE MICE INCIDENT

Lily Evans was in trouble.

She was in trouble since she remembered. She was a wizard which caused her enough problems with her family. She was friend with Severus Snape. James Potter was obsessed with her. She didn’t mind him but with Severus, her relationships were becoming harder to keep. Apart from school, she had issues with her sister too. Her sister hated her since the day she was invited to Hogwarts. Sometimes, Lily thought that maybe she was jealous that she didn’t have the opportunity but Petunia’s hatred was beyond jealousy. she wasn’t so sure that her sister liked her even from the beginning. Her head was spinning. It was the last day of her third year as a Hogwarts student. Sometimes the thought of going back home made her head dizzy. She was tired and missed her family but thinking about dealing with Petunia and Severus was overwhelming. She stopped while thinking about summer. It wasn’t so bad. Her parents were waiting for her. They were proud of her at least. Her other friends were there. She could spend a lot of time with them. She could get in touch with girls. There was a lot of opportunity ahead of her.

Mary’s scream stopped her once again. She flinched a bit before running to her side. While getting up from the ground, Marlene’s head bumped to her desk.

She let a groan before screaming: “what the hell, Macdonald?!

Lily opened the bathroom door, where Mary was trapped inside. she was holding her toothbrush like her wand and shooting spells left and right. Mary literally jumped out of there. She hugged Lily tightly and screeched: “IT’S A MICE! A FREAKING MICE!

Lily eventually saw the mice. he literally screeched louder than them. As he tried to run away, Marlene burst into the bathroom. She calmly closed the door in front of them. Mary and Lily looked at each other with shocked faces.

“she’s going to take it?!” her voice was low and scratched. “With her bare hands?!”

Lily took a deep breathe before screaming out of her lungs: “MARLENE!!!

She answered: “NOW THE FUCK, EVANS?!

Lily wanted to scream again but her voice got shut when Marlene opened the door with the mice in her hand. She was holding the poor thing from tail. The mice were as terrified as them. Mary took Lily’s arm while taking a step back. They stumbled together and fall to bed. Marlene with a devilish grin appeared in front of them.

She held the mice closer to their faces. “Now, what would you two little horrified creatures offer me?” in her eyes, there was a light. A devilish one.

Lily opened her mouth to answer. She held her gaze on the mice: “what do you want, my dear Marlene?” her voice was low. Mary nods along.

Marlene shrugged a bit: “well, ma' dear Evans, gimme options and I say what I find the best!”

“I can give you anything! Literally anything you want! A pair of football shoes, eyeliners, books, anything you want just let the bloody thing out of here, please!” Marlene laughed at them.

She shook her head: “ya morons! It’s just a Mice! with a silly tail and silly color and silly anything! Its just a silly thing!”

Mary cried: “no it’s not!!”

Lily looked closer at it. It was a silly thing, indeed. But it wasn’t any less terrifying when the silly thing would run with its silly little legs and long worm-like tail.

Marlene sighed: “Well, I don’t care. I want to keep it.”

NO, YOU DON’T!!” they literally yelled at Marlene. Arguing with Marlene was useless. She was as stubborn as Remus sometimes and now; it was one of those times. Marlene promised to keep the mice from getting to them. She put the little thing in bag and prevent it from running away. Every now and then, it screeched and tried to run away but Marlene kept it there. Lily finally gathered her courage and got back to her packing. After she packed, she headed down the common room. she stayed back a bit to see who she will face when she arrived there. She saw the boys looking for something.

“Are you sure he came back last night?” James asked while looking under the cushions.

Sirius moved the table, “I was helping moony, I don’t remember!” he put the table in its place.

She stayed back a bit more before catching them. “Heya there!” Lily smiled devilishly.

“AH, LILY!!” James’ high-pitched voice made Lily laugh a bit. Sirius, who smacked his forehead hard enough to make it burn, ran to door.

He yelled at them: “I’m gonna check on Moony!”

“what’s wrong with Remus?”

James chuckled nervously: “nothing!”

Lily arched her eyebrow. “So, you packed early, huh?!”

“What can I say? I’m a good student.” James grinned: “You continue that attitude Evans, and then I’m gonna love you even more!”

Lily took a deep breathe “You always ruin it, Potter.” She huffed before heading back to her dorm. She didn’t pay attention to James’ words. It was like this. She made a move, then he took it as a gesture and in the end, she would leave because she couldn’t handle it. James Potter was a good boy but he was as dumb as ox. Sometimes, she thought maybe that’s because he’s best friend is Sirius but he was even more stupid than him.

The girls were still packing when she arrived there. Mary was putting her make-up on. She was working on her eyeliner. She liked to wear make-up as much as she could which wasn’t a lot since her mother didn’t let her use more. Marlene’ and her parents didn’t approve of this so Mary would always share her cosmetics with them. Lily wasn’t a fan of it because it made her look like a clown but she had this cool eyeliner that when she wore it, it shone on her eyes. Mary was wearing that special thing.

“I hope next year, someone notice me!” Mary murmured.

Marlene replied happily: “when the right time comes, a special one would definitely notice’ ya, Macdonald!” She put the mice on her shoulder. The poor thing screeched loud enough to make Marlene jump a bit. She raised her finger and warned: “scream as loud as ya want, but I don’ care. I keep ya."

Mary had this surprised look on her face “You sometimes talk exactly like Remus, It’s almost identical!”. She closed the eyeliners lid.

“Nah, you’re messin’ with me!” Marlene’s face turned a deep shade of red. It was laughable.

Mary, who liked the game she started, continued: “why would I, McKinnon?! There’s no shame in obsessing with one of your mates!”

Lily couldn’t help herself so she added: “I guess he’s good looking enough, you know what I mean?” she flashed a grin to Mary.

Mary winked “he’s tall, has nice curls, he always smells good. Ah, I think I may’ve a crush on him!”

“NO, STOP!” Marlene covered her face. They laughed loudly enough that Marlenes faced turned redder than it was.

“No, honestly! You like’ ‘im?!” Mary asked while she was still shaking with laughter.

“He’s like, the most unavailable, boy EVER!” Lily couldn’t help herself from adding.

Marlene grunted: “I know that! It’s EMBARRASSING!” she cried. The mice screamed once again. Mary looked at her watch.

She jumped forward: “bollocks! We’re late again!” As they were running for their life, the brown mice let a big cry escape from it. Marlene shoved it to her bag. Lily was concerned about its life. He might’ve died in her bag. It was traumatizing a bit. When they arrived at the station, they ran as fast as they could to take a good cabin.

Lily breathlessly asked: “Do ya… think it.. died?!” Marlene froze in the middle of sitting. Color ran from her face.

Her lips trembled: “died… just like that?!” her voice was small. She quickly started to look deep in her bags. After some time, she finally held the mice up in the air. “IT’S ALIVE!” Although Lily hated the mice, she was glad that it was alive. Marlene put it on her shoulder again and scratched its tiny head.

Mary didn’t take her eye from it “so, tell us about the crush!” she asked calmly.

“Definitely not!”

“c’mon, don’t be shy Marls!”

Marlene shook her head. Mary smacked Lily with her elbow “You tell her something!”.

She was lost to her thoughts. “Wot…?”

“You’re no fun! How can you be so BORING?!” Mary crossed her arms. The cabin was silent. It was rather awkward.

Marlene huffed: “Wha’ d’ya want to kna’?”

Mary clapped her hands and answered: “Everything!”

She sighed: “Fine! So, it all started when I was at the library looking for…”

She ranted for quit long time. It was a funny story.

“d’ya think he like’ me?” Marlene asked slowly.

Lily sighed: “He’s a bit complicated, y’know? It’s not so clear what he thinks.”

“I mean, why should he like me?” she had this sad look on her face.

It shattered Lily’s heart. “No, It’s not like that! Don’t think like that—” the door opened and cut her in the middle. Sirius cleared his throat loudly enough to make every head turn to his side.

Remus chuckled: “You’re ridiculous, pads.” He leaned to the door frame.

“Shut up!” his cheeks were slightly blushed. “Ladies! Found ya at last!” his eyes searched the whole room before stopping on the mice. He whispered to Remus.

“What the hell, Black? Spit what you want.” Mary asked, clearly bored. His head turned to face Mary “Ah, Macdonald! I missed ya so much!” he pouted his lips before throwing himself between them. Remus sat beside Marlene and started to chat with her which was weird. He never chatted with someone this enthusiastically.

“Oh c’mon! ya two are up to somethin’!” Marlene cried.

Remus took her hand and said: “why should we be? It’s not worth it now, innit?” She blushed harder which was cute to watch, if it was in another universe.

He continued: “besides, ya lost this, don’ya?” he handed her a beautiful silver ring. Marlenes eyes shone brightly. She couldn’t help herself and threw herself on Remus. She hugged him tightly. Lily wished she could take a picture of it but then Sirius jumped to his feet and dragged Remus. She was disappointed.

“Thank ya for having us here, Ladies!” and then they ran. Marlene wore the ring and shoved it in their faces.

Mary took the ring “He must’ve like you.” A thoughtful look in her eyes.

“Yeah! He’s not the kind of guy to give gifts this easily! You’re a lucky gal!” Lily agreed. It was simple to get lost in these kinds of accidents when they were teenage girls. It was new and it was thrilling. They were content enough to not notice the escape of the mice.

it wasn’t until later when Mary sighed: “keep it somewhere safe. The bloody thing would probably steal it.”

Marlene nodded: “Yeah, ya righ’.” She looked over her shoulder and then it was the time that everything went downhill. They used enough force to keep Marlene from bursting through every cabin on the train. She cussed so much that Lily was feeling the heat rushing to her face. She knew a lot of stuff but the things that Marlene knew was on another league. Eventually they headed to every cabin and at last, the find the right one.

“Fancy meetin’ ya girls ‘ere” Peter greeted them. He had this nervous smile on his face that made him look even more distressed.

Marlene turned towards Remus and Sirius. She took a deep breath before smacking them hard enough to make them yelp. “WHA’ THE HELL DID YA DO TO MY MICE?!!

They both asked: “What mice, McKinnon?!”.

she stared at them. Her lips turned to a thin line “My brown mice was there when ya sods came to the bloody cabin, now, it’s not.”

“Have you considered yet that the bloody thing had legs, so it could run away from you lot?” Sirius arched his eyebrow. His eyes were thoughtful but they knew he was mocking them.

“If you’re not sure, then check ‘ere.” Remus suggested coolly.

They all began to check. They checked everywhere. The seats, ground, even their bags and luggage which was embarrassing, Looking through all of their shirts and pants and school supply and in the end, their underwear.

“Honestly Remus, how do you wear this?” Mary held the underwear playfully.

Sirius grinned: “You can’t blame a lad for his economic issues, Macdonald!” Remus rolled his eyes and ignored both of them. There was no trace of the mice. its loss was a bittersweet feeling. Lily was glad that they didn’t have to deal with it but she was also sad for Marlene losing her newfound pet. They headed back to their cabin with sad look on their faces.

Marlene stopped in the middle of walking.

Took a dramatic turn that flashed her blonde hair into Mary’ eyes.

She thinned her eyes.

Stared at them and then she declared war.

“They’re gonna’ pay for’it.”
