What is that?
Mermaids have known for a long time how to turn into land walkers. They have known but no one really did it. It was a way of banishing them. Turning them into the monsters who pollute their kingdom. It is rare that someone gets banished especially royalty but Sirius did always break tradition didn't he?
Regulus was curled up in his room in his little net hammock. His hands pressed over his ears and tail wrapped around him awkwardly. It hurt a little but he felt safer like that. Not that he would tell anyone. He could still hear them. They never stop yelling no matter what they do it isn't enough. Sirius stopped trying. Sirius, the heir, stopped trying. Regulus is still waiting for them to love him. They still don't even after he changed himself to fit into the puzzle. He changed for them and now he doesn't even like himself. How could he? He's made himself horrible, he pushes Sirius away and took his life to make him someone else. Theres a loud slap sound and Regulus tries not to wince. Screams follow and more yelling. Regulus feels tears well up in his eyes, red slowly colouring the water. He always hates how they cried blood. It never did feel right. More shouts, Regulus hears his mothers voice. "Do not test me Sirius I will banish you!" she yells and Regulus feels his face drop.
No. They wouldn't they needed Sirius. Even if he was the spare they didn't want him to be the heir. They wouldn't. Regulus sobs quietly as he hears his brothers voice Sirius was always louder than thier mother. "Do it!" he screams back and Regulus has to bite down on his hand as they keep screaming "I don't have anything left here anyway!" he shrieks and Regulus feels his heart stop. Did he mean that? what about me? He muffles his cries and hears more screaming. He can't take it anymore and he swims out his room. It was unfortunate timing.
His mother cast the spell as Regulus walked out. It didn't hit Sirius but Regulus. Their father hit Sirius. Both were hit with the spell. They only had an hour to get to land before they transform into land walkers. Sirius looks shocked and for a second everything goes quiet Sirius and Regulus both staring at each other.
Regulus could cry again. Sirius looked bad. His tail having scales ripped off blood flowing freely out of there and his hair patchy and pulled out in clumps. Bruises around his arms and legs from where he'd been held down. It hurt to look at. "Siri" Regulus says quietly and Sirius looks shocked. That was all it took. The name... The one name Sirius had not heard since they were little. Sirius reaches out and grabs him as soon as their mother starts shouting again. Sirius starts to drag him away and Regulus lets it happen still in shock.
Sirius drags him up to the surface of the water. They need to find land. They only have an hour. Sirius looks at Regulus and just breaks. "I told you to stay in your room," he says sharply but Regulus doesn't care. "You had me Sirius!" he yells a little loud above the water. "For fucks sake you had me why-" Sirius cuts him off "You haven't spoken to me in years," he sneers "You agreed with them even when they started that bloody war you stayed with them!" Sirius says loudly and Regulus snaps. "Do you really think that! I hated them I was trying to survive Sirius! It may not have occurred to you but they didn't need me and hardly anyone knows about me in the kingdom!" he says sharply "with you they need you alive but me? They'd kill me first chance they get!"
Both brothers pause staring at each other breathing heavily. Sirius' mouth hanging open. Regulus looks away. "I- fuck I'm sorry that was uncalled for," Regulus says weakly. Sirius gulps. "What do you mean they'd kill you?" Sirius says slowly. Regulus gulps "you know damn well they nearly kill you," he says quietly "Sirius they very nearly killed me if you didn't distract them that time they wouldn't have stopped," both of the brothers tread water silently.
"We need to find land," Sirius says finally and that was that. They started to swim west and reached a small island. It was small but it had to do. As they both looked out they saw somewhere that seemed bigger and they both sighed before heading there.
When they reached the land Sirius got out the water pulling himself up and letting himself lay on the grass. Regulus wasn't so lucky. A net wrapped around his tail and pulled him back he yelped "Shit" he said panicking as he tries to untangle it but it doesn't work he starts to get pulled out the water and Sirius yells for him. Regulus feels himself in the net with a bunch of fish and he nearly gags as he gets pulled into the air with them. He's dumped in a boat with land walkers.
"What is that?"
