Regulus
Maybe he should've known something was up when James had left the library so quickly, but he honestly didn't think much of it. He probably had needed to be somewhere.
It was getting closer to dinner and he hadn't seen James since the library early that morning, not even when he went to see if he was at quidditch practice. Weirdly Marlene had also not been there, Dorcas had said she wasn't overly concerned. Marlene had always been slightly impulsive.
Regulus was currently sitting in the Slytherin common room with Dorcas, who was fussing over Evan's hair, Barty, Pandora and Lily, it wasn't unusual for Lily to be in the Slytherin common room, most people didn't mind too much. "Uh, Regulus there is a Gryffindor outside that desperately needs to talk to you?" One of the third years say, from where they are standing by the door. "Really? Let them in." He responds, putting his book down and sitting up on the couch. "Marlene? What are you doing here?" He says, confused. Why would Marlene need to talk to Regulus? She's dating Dorcas after all. "Marls! What are doing, darling?" Said girlfriend asks.

Marlene
"Hi, Dorcas" she acknowledged. "Regulus, Lily this needs to stop" she warned. "What are you talking about Marls?" Lily inquired. "This fake dating thing in front of James, it's enough." She fumed. Marlene was pissed, because she knew how they had broken James hurt. Not even because they were together but because he started to feel like no one could love him. The two people he had ever liked, one who had fallen in love, with being together and so openly in front of you could hurt anyone but it's James, and James would always blame himself over anyone else. "Why would we stop?" Regulus argued. "Because you're hurting him." She protested. "I thought you said he didn't like me anymore?" Lily insisted. "He doesn't. He hasn't liked you as more than a friend since second year Lily." She Countered. "Then how would we be hurting him?" Regulus asked stubbornly. "Because you idiot, he's in love with you. And you've been dating his first ever crush or at least that's what he thinks." She continues, "He saw you kiss in the library and broke down crying."
"We made James cry?" Lily sounded ashamed. "I never thought about he would've felt..."
"I'm such an idiot" Regulus groaned, his hands covering his face.
